Woolsey is such a good example of an analyst done right. Usually they come away looking like pedantic jackasses. Woolsey brought deliberation and caution to the table, Certainly. But he got that SG1 and the entire SGC was necessary, and while he might have objections. He brought them up from a place that they could improve. Not that they should shut down.
Woolsey always kept an objective point of view, never basing his opinions based on anything more nor anything less than the facts. He eventually learned his point of view was flawed because he had an incomplete view of all the facts. He actually became a pretty decent leader in the end.
@@godofawesum223 my favorite scene with Woosley was him torching a tribunal in Atlantis. They were playing checkers while he was playing 8D pan galactic chess.
Woolsey: There may be red flags, but I’m objectively assessing the risks and failure to manage those risks… Going after two people who have a relationship, but manage to keep it professional is crossing the line of objectivity. I may be an accountant, but I’m not a monster. Kinsey: Hold my sacrificial cup of virgin blood.
The Chairman really went to bat for SG-1, Major General Hammond, and the whole SGC. Never had a supervisor like that. They all have sold me down the river.
Are you referring to "Chain Reaction"? In that episode, _another_ planet was set ablaze and then radiation from said planet started coming through the Earth Stargate.
Woolsey is a bureaucrat , but you can instantly see the moment he realises his points are being used in a political persecution that he does not approve of.
He is a bureaucrat, which isn't a bad thing. What makes his Character interesting is that they broke the cliché of bureaucrats being stuck up, overly ambitious and sometimes straight up evil. Woolsey always believed SGC should have civilian oversight. He was such a harsh critic, because he wanted to make it airtight, so people with less than good intentions *cough* Kinsey *cough* had no angle of attack to gain power over the Programm. He was completly objective in his assessment and to be fair, he had several good points, SG1 definitely deserved some sick days after all the stuff they've been through. Hell, just look at his reaction when Kinsey starts making up stuff.
I'm not a military man and who knows I've certainly not supported all military actions I've seen happen. However, I firmly believe only those who have experienced such can truly understand what those people go through. Woolsey starts to understand this when he has his own 'adventures'.
I just don’t understand what happened?! Went from this to flying toilet bowl seats and space corn, with two actors from a previously great series, and it’s just all awful. Does it come down to the better writers going to Atlantis? So sad. Then dumbverse then, don’t even want to say it….Catherine. At least a fps would have helped at this point. Fail fail fail, so disrespectful to a great show.
Starting with Season 7, I find that watching this show becomes increasingly difficult; it's *not* a _terrible_ collection of episodes, mind you, but you can clearly see Richard Dean Anderson beginning to make a break away.
these episodes were great, people just don't have enough brain cells to listen to some talking and politics and think everthing is about shooting goa'uld
