And now ends the last two of four of my favourite episodes of SG-1! I loved every aspect of what was going on in these episodes, and the sprinkling of comedic moments really sealed the deal. My favourite moment was from part 2, when Weir goes to see Camulus in his cell: Weir: I've discussed the situation with my superiors, and we've decided to let you all go Camulus: I must admit this comes as a surprise Weir: Well it seems we haven't had much success interrogating Goa'ulds in the past. And it's been made apparent to me that you'll be much more useful to us fighting Ba'al Camulus: Dr. Weir Weir: You know my name Camulus: This may come as a surprise to you Weir: I'm not sure anything can surprise me at this point Camulus: I wish to request asylum Weir: Well, seems I was wrong again 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I saw an interview with the woman who played the first 'Weir' at the end of Season 7, and she blamed internal politics on her geting replaced in the role. Apparently she was a massive fan of the burning man (I think I got the right festival?) festival, and was very involved in helping organize it. I don't think some of the higher ups in the executive Stargate dept really thought someone who likes to 'go get nude at music festivals' was a proper fit for their show. At least that's as much as I got out of what she was saying. I do like the new Weir very much, but I had no problem ith the other one, and it's sad if it's something that lame that cost her her job. I think it as revealed to her that because of her 'time commitment' to burning man that they didn't feel she was going to have enough time to give to film stargate. I'd hunt don that interview if you want to know more.
Yea from what I recall, they assumed she wouldn't have the time and devotion to Stargate, but in the end nobody asked! I bet it'd have worked out for her if they did.
I saw that interview, I think she played it up a little. They were worried that her other commitments would get in the way of the show as it wasn't just SG-1 they had plans for, they wanted to do SG Atlantis with her as lead character, it made a lot of sense really.
She also straight up lied to the producers and said she was going to a "family reunion" when she was going to burning man. In her interviews, she tries to justify that with a "well, we're *like* a big family so it was kinda true..." line, but I mean c'mon... Bottom line: If you're looking to get a regular gig, don't lie to get out of work on your first job with that employer. It's a pretty bad look.
It's a "weird" recast, but she is great. Teal'cs hair is strange, but looks good. The actor didn't want to be bald anymore. Such great episodes! Finally some promotions. 👌Replicators gonna replicate. I'd replicate Carter and with her, too if I could. 😁 I will LOVE back and forth videos, it will be awesome and more uploads for Stargate are very welcome to see anyways!! Thank you!
Christopher Judge would ask the showrunner (I don't remember which one it was) if he could grow his hair out that season, and the answer was always no. When the showrunner moved on to Atlantis, one of his right-hand men took over as the main showrunner of SG-1, and when Judge asked him about the hair, he replied that he did not care. Therefore, Teal'c with hair.
Great reactions to the last few episodes! I can't wait for Atlantis. I love both shows equally but they feel different enough that Atlantis might get some unique reactions, especially with certain plot points.
Fifth met Carter once and betrayed his own kind for her! Elizabeth is such a big character more than one person had to play her! I'm guessing Stargate Atlantis! Onward! Can't wait for your opinion on Stargate Universe. Every time I see Yuu's First Prime, I remember NFS: Most Wanted! He was on the blacklist.
should be noted that stargate Atlantis hocks up right as this one is ending, so while you might want to do Atlantis at a later date, maybe at least do the first episode at this point in time (edit: seeing the ending now, looks like you had the same thought as I am; good on you)
The Weir recast is certainly the most strange recast I've ever seen from a show from this time, but you get used to it pretty fast (as I'm sure you've already come to know given how far ahead you are on paetron)
How will you be watching Atlantis? Will it be a back to back reaction (SG1 then atlantis) or will you do atlantis and sg1 once a week etc? Both shows take place around the same time during and after season 8 so it's fun to see the little crossovers happen chronologically.
Don S. Davis who plays Hammond is of course no longer a regular, as of this episode. Although I am glad that he didn't exit the show completely, as of Season 8, you'll no longer be seeing him on a regular basis. If you're missing Don S. Davis, then another show I'd recommend to put on your watchlist is *Twin Peaks (1990-1991, 2007)* where he plays a similar character. Not that you have the time to watch it right now with the rest of *Stargate SG-1 (1997 - 2007)* and *Stargate Atlantis (2004 - 2009)* to watch, and after that *Stargate Universe (2009 - 2011)* and *Stargate Origins (2018)* too. You may even want to check out the animated *Stargate Infinity (2002 - 2003).* However, once all that stuff is done, and you're looking for something new, I totally suggest Twin Peaks as something to try.
17:50 Oh, right, sure. The 20 lbs is a reference to... uh... See, Carter has a really big brain, and... no, wait... Uh... The replicators are made of a super lightweight mater... no... Oh, the weather vane has East visable and E20 is the is the last episode of the season and it will absolutely pound... OK, the set dresser went to a thrift shop and forgot to turn it around... Yeah, that's the one.
I mean, Failwhale has been watching both on Patreon, however he seems to have paused his uploads on RU-vid of Angel to focus entirely on Buffy, so we might get a similar situation here where he just uploads SG-1 and then maybe he'll upload Atlantis when he has finished the SG-1 uploads.
Ah yes, the introduction of RepliCarter. I really like RepliCarter as a villian, but feel that this season tries to do so much so she is a little underused (trying to be vague to not give anything away 🙂)
He's definitely watching it on Patreon. But he did stop uploading Angel on RU-vid to focus exclusively on Buffy (although I expect we'll see him upload Angel again when Buffy finishes). We might get a situation where he only uploads SG-1 on RU-vid, at least until he completes his watch through of SG-1.
you can tell how rushed Weir;'s introduction is. Her suit shirt is way too big for her. Its obvious they just pulled it out the costume department and were like "ehh throw this on." Even the cuffs are too big, the collar is huge. Its like a child wearing their mother's clothes. Its painfully obvious at 5:20 in the gate room.
Last episode really messed with my brain because I originally didn't notice the change but watching it now after seeing Atlantis I thought I was going crazy.
I know it doesn't matter since you're done with the series, but man a lot of your editing cuts are horrible especially in the first half of the episodes. Partial sentences, partial scenes, etc.
