i think Stargirl is one of the shows that has villains that are quite menacing, intimidating, done much damage to the heroes.. like even the choice of actors for the villains are quite good, like if i meet them irl without knowing who they are, i would feel quite intimidated lmao

@@ABCDG13 I don't think she was angry about the fact that It was a secret on how to beat him it was The Fact things kept going wrong left and right ever since eclipse was released and Barbara and Pat still chose not to tell her when that information could have been useful.

@@moneylover318 While I don’t disagree that Courtney has a right to her anger, I believe that it would rank third right now in Pat and Barbara’s concerns right now! As the parents of her and Mike, and the parental authority figures of the rest of the young JSA, they have to keep them safe(important #1), deal with Eclipso from destroying the world much less their little town(important #2), so Courtney’s little well intentioned temper tantrums are just going take a backseat for the time being(most important #3) because the good guys are hopelessly outmatched by a demon who can live inside their minds(the idea that the only heroes in the world are a bunch of headstrong teenagers who barely know their own powers! Madness!) So I think the anger of a teenager with superpowers is way down on their list of current concerns!

So if she knew would she have killed Cindy? Also when did Courtney tell Pat about Yolanda killing Brainwave?

@@josephwilliford2474 in the same episode yolanda quit. But the reason is because it wasn't her secret detail it was Yolanda's. And she owned up to keeping The Secret they didn't. They should have told Courtney right there and then about what the JSA did

Her anger was justified especially when they should have told her when things were going wrong with Yolanda and rick

I was disappointed how little we got of him and starman hasn't showed up after the season 1 teaser

So happy I avoid all advertising if they ruined that moment by featuring him.

i just finished watching it and i was legit confused why she was mad, but when you put it like that, yeah i get it now. i thought i just wasn't paying attention or something

There is also the layer of Courtney putting JSA on a pedestool, and the betrayal in having the JSA's true identity kept from you.

And let's not forget how upset Yolanda was about killing someone, if she knew what the JSA did and how keen Wildcat was then she might not have felt so guilty.

It's really not forced at all I think ppl are just so used to this type of thing in every CW hero show that when a show actually does this situation pretty well they'll say it's forced

What are you talking about, did you even watch the episode? The issue discussed was about killing Eclipso's HOST, who is human. Not about killing Eclipso him/itself. Up to that moment, the JSA believed there was always a way other than murder (which is exactly what killing another human is, for any reason).

I think they're just used to seeing this in pretty much every season of a CW show that when a show finally does it well they complain and say it's forced 🤷🏾‍♂️

@@FirstLast-yh7gj In the discussion Aaron feels it was done well enough but Eric doesn't quite. "They" disagree in other words, there is no "they" on this point. And even then, Eric is actually paying 'Stargirl' a compliment - his point is partly that this show often _avoids_ the more obvious tropes (or subverts them) so he's slightly disappointed to see one _apparently_ run its cliched course here (which I totally get, even though I disagree with him in this specific instance). And to the OP yeah, it's still a trope because it's a common plot dynamic that the writers chose (and obviously could have chosen otherwise). The trope isn't the argument BTW, the trope is "secrets tear the team apart" which is _extremely_ common (it's up there with "will they/won't they" - probably my personal least favourite trope ever).

@@FirstLast-yh7gj I mean, there're only two people in the discussion and one of them _doesn't_ agree with said point :). Aaron literally argues _against_ Eric's perspective at e.g. 16:44 and also 18:09 - he _doesn't_ think it felt forced, he felt the show did enough to justify it (in his own words "I'm OK with the way I think this turns out but the problem is, it _is_ a trope, that other shows do with less success and for less reasonings"). So nope, _on this point_ there's no "they" :).

I wondered this myself for a fairly specific reason. No spoilers (for a 20+ year old show :) but the shot at the end of Eclipso looking in on the family arguing reminded me _a lot_ of a shot from an episode of 'Angel' where it _looks_ like a massive argument is taking place but it's actually fake (on 'Angel' we as viewers are in on it though - it's actually kind of a moving moment IMO). (another reason being, this _is_ fairly tropey IMO - though I agree with Aaron that it feels justified - and traditionally, 'Stargirl' at its best isn't)

Season 1 is way better though tbh.

In the first season of Stargirl, during the fight with the IJSA, we saw Jay's helmet on the ground, but there was no body even though Jay wasn't in the part of killing the host for Eclipso in Bruce Gordon. I believed during the pilot scene in Stargirl, Icicle was about to killed Jay, but Jay would speed away from Earth-2 to Earth Prime of the post-crisis timeline to save himself. Remembered after Crisis, the Earth Prime characters didn't know that the new Multiverse was rebooted maybe with the exception of Superman and Lois as Natalie Irons breached from whatever Earth she comes from to Earth-Prime to reunite with her father John Henry Irons again. I think in the next month's premiere of season 8 of the Flash, they need to know that the new multiverse exist and we waited for the show to have one character to reveal to them after one and a half season after Crisis. Every Earth-Prime characters need to know next month or later in the upcoming season about the existence of the new Multiverse.

Kinda agree and disagree. Yes, they're too young to be doing what they're doing BUT they _are_ doing it - these "children playing dress up" are going out and risking their lives to help people and keeping crucial information from them makes that harder and more dangerous. And doing so when you've also promised not to engenders (entirely justified) distrust. Good parenting would be to either stop them doing it at all OR to give them the best chance to succeed. I totally get why Pat and Barb kept the secret but to me it was _clearly_ the wrong choice.

Given the effect on the first JSA Pat saw as a result of what happened I think it could strongly be argued he thought withholding the information WAS giving them the best chance to succeed.

@@Vipre- Oh I agree that's what he _thought_ was best. I'm not questioning Pat's motives, just his judgement. The effect on JSA 1.0 is exactly why he _should_ have told them. Rather than "Here's the mistake we made so you can avoid it or at the very least prepare for the consequences" you believe it's better to actively withhold potentially useful information (breaking your word in the process) and let history repeat itself ? It wasn't knowing what would happen that hurt the JSA (the reverse if anything) so personally I just don't see how that justifies keeping it secret.

@@anonymes2884 I think if The Shade hadn't told Sylvester that killing Bruce Gordon was the solution the JSA wouldn't have taken the "easy" way out. I think Pat believed not telling Courtney and the team would prevent them from being tempted to repeat that mistake. I think the term "useful" regarding the information in this case is possibly interchangeable with "detrimental".

Reporting a set of facts doesn't force anyone to do anything. And obviously the kids _already know_ that killing is an option because (at least as far as we currently know anyway) both Yolanda and Mike have already killed humans (and just because in general they're not idiots and understand that one way of stopping an enemy is to kill them from, y'know, books, films, reality etc.). Courtney, knowing how badly affected Yolanda was by it, will almost certainly be even _less_ likely to kill i'd say.

I mean, 'Summer School' is just a device to keep the cast numbers down right (for Covid filming reasons they obviously couldn't have school classes and halls full of actors) ? It was never _about_ that.

Well because of John Henry Irons and now his daughter, Clark, Lois and Diggle are aware of the new multiverse's existence.

@@1357hola it doesn't make sense though...the Jay that spent his whole life on Earth 3 until it was erased by the antimatter wave a few years ago, that is now living on Earth Prime, was also part of the JSA on Earth 2 a decade ago???

They do, but this was a lucky overlook.

They actually don't always, specifically for times like this (in fact sometimes one of their editors will even remove names from the credits of the version of the episode they watch - that definitely happened on some episodes of 'Doctor Who' for instance).

John Wesley Shipp has stated repeatedly that the Stargirl Jay is the exact same character as the one on The Flash. He travelled from Earth-2 to Earth-Prime. It therefore makes sense that it’s the same actor with the same suit.

@@thedemon0843 if so he would have told the flash that the Multiverse was still alive but I think he didn't even know that the Multiverse was still alive and he would have told Barry that he's now on a different Earth which is Earth 2 not Earth 3
