I think you've got it backwards; Frieren actually wanted to stay in town and do all the side quests there, but she accidentally hit the trigger to advance the *main* quest.

@@Egavans it's just occurred to me; Frieren is just a veteran RPG player!! She tries to do everything else beforehand in fear of advancing the plot and being forced to leave! Her avoiding the guard was because she didn't want to leave yet and wanted to buy that grimoire but didn't have time imagine all the magic grimoires that are now forever out of her reach simply because Himmel rushed to save someone in need and/or inadvertently annoyed one of the locals lol

I want to point out a fun detail. Frieren asked stark to fight for 30 seconds. And if you time it from when the first hit lands. (Stark hitting off the dragons claws) to the killing blow... the runtime is exactly... 30 seconds.

eisen hit stark as a reflex because he was afraid of getting hurt by the boy during their argument. stark had become THAT strong

In the manga, there was a panel during Eisen and Stark's argument where Stark raised his hand in a fist, Eisen thought Stark was going to him so his body just moved out of fear and hit him. He was that scared of Stark's strength

I ain't realize it but you right Frieren def made it a less heavy journey for their squad, they all have such great dynamic 6 episodes in. This show manages to always get us in the feels, eh ... Every flashback of Himmel has me in tearful mess 😔😔 also his reasoning of coming back to share his "ridiculous but fun" journey with Eisten (which in part is Himmel's influence) has me lost it

It's not that she doesn't think highly of herself. She just doesn't know that people will believe her even if she says who she is. Remember, it's like more than 80 years since her first journey. People who knows her or recognize her personally are already dead or at old age already. Plus she just wants to delay their journey because she's just lazy to go. 😂

I think she simply doesn't like the spotlight. But also in this particular instance, I think she was well aware of the fact that she might have gotten through the gate more easily by dropping her name but she didn't even try because she's in no particular hurry. Instead she saw it as a welcome excuse towards Fern for staying longer and researching without it being "her" fault. 😉

Frieren said the three years he spent protecting the village were short, because she wanted him to realize that, even three years ago, when he knew nobody in the village, he risked his life for them. But he is not there yet. And you are right : Frieren enjoys making people around her happy,; that's why she collects seemingly useless spells, for instance.

Your emotional intelligence is incredible honestly, loving your reactions! If someone hasn't already brought it up I'd like to put you onto a show coming out on the 22nd of Oct, it's called "The Apothecary Diaries", it's incredibly beloved by certain circles but not well known by the general anime fandom. It's the type of show reactors will start reacting too after the first few episodes after they realize how popular it is, or if their schedule is full will watch it after the season. It's possible it's a difference in tone through adapting, but in the manga they use Stark's reason as another focus on time. 3 years is a sneeze in Frieren's life, but for Stark (or Fern for that matter), 3 years is a lot more impactful, so actually protecting the village has weight. It kind of felt rushed here, but I get it, gotta keep moving I guess.
