This is an unusually long build because I made a lot of mistakes! Watch the happiness of the settlement plummet before I remember that I need food production 😂 I talk about why I don't use mods, ghoul lore, scrap a lot of old cars, and build an outdoor shopping center.
I'm absolutely delighted that y'all have been enjoying this series! Some questions for you, do you like the ambient noises? Or would you prefer a little Diamond City Radio?
As always, thank you for joining me, the general of the Minutemen, as we work together to make the Commonwealth safer, one settlement at a time.🫡

In my mind I can see her character, decked out in full Raider armor, building a encampment. "We'll set some dead bodies on spikes over here by the gate, some more skulls on the table. *That's lovely...*" Great to see a new video! A nice way to start a Saturday morning before I go back to work on my own settlements. Thanks!

It's nice to see another girl playing Fallout! I feel like an island in a sea of boys! Fallout 4 is my absolute favorite and I keep replaying it. I know a lot of people complained about the settlement building when this first came out, but that's part of my favorite part about it! The last time I played I used all mods, but this time around I am chalanging myself to just use vanilla game. I always theme my settlements, like if people showed up here what would be available (even if it's not actually there currently in the game). So, for example, Oberlin Station would have railroad stuff, so mine is a small, stacked city using shack/barn mix materials, you know because nothing matches it's all scrap, with old boxcars shifted on the tracks to provide a wall. Decor is all railroad themed as much as I could make it. My Drive In is all, well, a drive in/retro. Settlers found old movie posters and such to decor with and I used the string lights mostly. I used a lot of metal on that build. Sanctuary is my Minute Men home, so to get into the town, you need to pass through a secure/recruitment area. The town is walled and guarded. This is also my player home/storage for my goodies, which is built next to the workshop house. I turned the homes into, well, homes, but a few were changed into a diner and a school. I only am using 5 of the homes, and stuffed shacks and garages and such in-between to make it super full feeling. Enough about my settlements, I am heading off to watch another of your vids! :)

So, I follow this Twitch streamer who does Sims builds. She's a boatload of fun. But in watching her, I came to the conclusion that Fallout 4 is basically The Sims for me. I'm all about the base building, making things nice and defensible, livable, etc.. To that end, I'm so happy this video was recommended to me. I love the approach you take to base building. As a side note, if you're comfortable using console commands, 'scrapall' can save you a bunch of time clearing out a settlement of junk. Everything gets scrapped and placed neatly in the workshop. Also, if you're not a fan of skeletons laying around, look directly at the skeleton or other object you hate, open the console, click on the object with the mouse. You should see a hex code that represents that object. Then use the command 'markfordelete' and then it will be deleted the next time that the area is unloaded and reloaded. Basically fast travel somewhere else, and fast travel back. In order to no longer be selecting an object, click another object, the hex code will change, then click that same object again.

Ah, I remember using Starlight Drive-In as a hub for all my settlements. Basically, every settlement sends a trader to Starlight. I would give each trader a postal outfit and a gatling gun, and at certain times there would be a huge parade of postal workers walking through the compound. Man, I wanna play Fallout 4 again just to do the settlements.

your video got recommended to me randomly and i just wanted to say that you have a very soothing voice. i don’t know if it’s your intention but it’s like casual asmr. it feels like falling asleep while your big sister is playing on the desktop and you crawl and snuggle up on her bed at 1am. i never really like the building mode in fallout, but you make it look so fun (and i appreciate that you don’t use mods! creativity within limitations!) that i want to try to actually get into it more. and thank you so much for the subtitles! it helps a lot for non native speakers like me who struggle with listening and comprehending english sometimes. subscribed, and i can’t wait to watch your other videos!

I like that you are keeping with the vanilla game, so that everyone who plays the game can relate to what you create. I will say that personally, I very much like the scrap all mods. It allows me to clean up rooms from trash and random objects, plants and non-decaying corpses, that ruin the vibe of a place. It's such a relief to have that extra freedom and it also allow you lower the build limit in a reasonable way. You will not believe the number of items the projector in the top of the cafe / projector room takes up.

I used a mod, when I was playing this years ago, that allowed me to "clean up" the settlement. So, I could scrap various things like: the piles of leaves all over the place, the dead plants that hang down along walls or from roofs, various stones or small concrete chunks. It was by far my favorite mod out of all the ones I ended up using, I love neat and clean aesthetic.
@lauratobin9876
@lauratobin9876 3 месяца назад
I use that mod, too- it’s called ‘Scrap that Settlement’ & it’s very stable & turns all that garbage ( bodies, trash, dead plants/vines/trees, rubble, signs, even those ugly hedges in Sanctuary) into raw materials that can be used for building! Plus it gives clean, more even surfaces to build on & reduces the weeds coming up through your floors!

In Fallout 4 lore, the first attack on the Boston area was a <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="506">8:26</a>am. Why were there cars at the drive-in theatre? Just a little thought, but this is a FANTASTIC build. I wish I was this creative.

THAT IS A GREAT QUESTION
@rossvolkmann1161
@rossvolkmann1161 Месяц назад
@@IfThenCreate So I have my own headcanon on this, but... it's pretty grim. It's clear that not everybody in the Boston area died after the bombs fell. Due to the fact that wooden residential structures are still standing in Boston and its northern exurbs we can surmise that Boston wasn't ever hit directly. Concord and Lexington in particular are furthest from the glowing sea and would be outside the worst heat and pressure zones. We also have recordings or documents from survivors in the immediate aftermath of the war. Notably, there's a recording from a pre-war US army soldier found in the abandoned Vertibird in Concord. He talks about not being able to get in contact with any other American units, meeting other survivors, and going off to find if his sister. But just because one survives the initial blast and resulting firestorms doesn't mean they're going to live. Radiation sickness would become widespread within a couple of days. Anyone who outlasts the worst of the fallout is now looking at a decade (or more) of global nuclear winter. A lot of people probably survived the bombs and radiation, but I would suspect very *very* few people outside the vaults survived the subsequent decade of deprivation that made agriculture impossible, even in areas that weren't attacked. So my head canon wr/t to Starlight Drive-in is that these people drove their cars to the theater after the bombs fell. Maybe a week later, once the fires had died down. Anyone suffering from acute radiation sickness is going to enter a latent period where they briefly start to feel better. Maybe Gil who runs the drive-in finds he can get out of bed. He walks around to his neighbors or starts knocking on the doors of people who were his regulars. "Hey Roger, we're showing 'It's a Wonderful Life' down at Starlight. Bring the family."

Defense systems are actually good to place! If you're away from the settlement and they get attacked, they will have assistance while trying to defend themselves and will have a better chance at surviving. 😊

Love the builds they are relaxing to listen and watch while I do work! I think it is great how much you can do without mods choosing simplicity over maximizing build limit. I also like the ambiance and think it would be cool if you added your own ambiance as well! (and I think the radio can get you copyright strikes on youtube so I advise caution). Lastly, if you ever decide to use mods I think you could make some amazing builds with Sim Settlements 2! Its the main mod I use for my settlement builds!

I'm new to your channel and I absolutely love no mod settlement builds. In fact I over the years I've watched countless Skooled Zone episodes because they focus on Building with the tools and assets given. That being said whether you use the Console to give yourself resources or use the workbench/scrap glitch that cuts out the tedium of finding resources to focus on your build. Not using mods really helps push the boundaries of the imagination. Lastly Since Fallout 4 technically starts at the late 50's early 60's What Movie or movies do you imagine were being played the day the bombs dropped?

Enjoying these settlement builds a lot, they're very characterful and I like how you put thought into how people would really live there. Regarding mods, I get where you're coming from and of course you should play your way, but if you ever do want to give them a try for settlement building I find "scrap everything" and "place everywhere" really remove a lot of the frustration from vanilla settlement building. No more red outlines and your settlers don't have to live with skeletons and piles of junk in their homes!

Excellent work. You have incredible patience. The settlement building mechanics are more likely to make me rage quit than anything else in the game!

I always use the concession stand as the cooking area,fridge, sink etc, and set up booths on the side where the " wing" collapsed as an outdoor cafe.

Nice work, I never end up building anything spread out and relatively organic like this. but as someone who plays with skk settlement attack and killable settlers that isn't much of an option. GL with the channel I'll definitely be back to see what else you come up with 🍻

Starlight’s always been that one settlement I keep finding myself working on, always changing things to make it feel more like a Fallout settlement. Great seeing I’m not the only one still coming back to this place with ideas

It was fun seeing you get excited after your farm fences finally snapped. I remember discovering build order in the game, and how messed up it is, what wont work one way will totally work if you do it in reverse order :)

I always enjoyed the building functions in Fallout 4 and 76, problem is I have no talent for it lol. I'm happy I can live vicariously through you, you're awesome.

I love this!!! You had me saying "girl same" throughout your video. I'm really looking forward to any other settlement builds you are planning to do, they are so refreshing compared to the stuff out there right now, and your energy is just so awesome!!! I wonder if you have looked into the settlement challenge, it's a slower project but it could be interesting to see how you would work through it Un modded!!

Oo what’s the settlement challenge? 👀
@bonniecooper8695
@bonniecooper8695 3 месяца назад
It's a challenge usually done at sanctuary where for your play through you only stay in that settlement, and use what is there and what you can trade from Carla to build up your settlement. It's a bit slower because you have to wait for the game have her pass through and what not, but the slow play through is enjoyable

i like how you don't over clutter spaces its so easily done and the use of microhouseing makes it look cute. with ghouls i believe they don't die but the increase of radiation can make them turn into feral ghouls over time as stated in fallout 3 and i think it goes on about it in fallout 1 and 2. even though that can happen it is not inevitable its only if they are exposed to high radiation over a long time. but if you think about it losing your entire personality and memories also been in a constant flight and fight state that would be worse than death.

I love your internal monologue talking about design, and your organic placement! I get bogged down in fiddling with each piece and using Place Everywhere commands so lose the big picture and end up with very blocky builds, which seems antithetical to haphazard feel of the rest of the Commonwealth. Taking so much inspiration!
