I’ve heard that rocket launches in Florida are pretty common but it’s so cool. Actually see it on camera. I’ve never actually been to see it. Great timing!
I live on a boat in a marina with access to cable internet but my ping is always really bad because the cables running through the docks are old as dirt. I've been on the fence about switching over mainly because gaming latency with satellite internet, but this helped me make the choice to cut the cord. Thanks for taking the time to share your experience.
Dude thank you soo much I just ordered starlink because I'm not in a spot for fiber internet and I'm a huge cod player so I feel better after watching this
Back in 2021 it was kinda bad but now it’s awesome I don’t lag as much or lag out of my games when I’m lagging. In 2021 it wasn’t horrible but I would lag and lag out during games through the days. However now it’s awesome I lagged out once every 2 or 3 weeks I’m enjoying it. Also the latency is much more consistent not perfect but it much better for me.
What gen equipment you got? I searching the Internet for Starlink info, and see the same thing over and over, the third gen seems really got a significant improvement sinds the last 6 months, ping time under 60ms and dl/ul speeds a lot higher. I don't know, but that's what I read and see on RU-vid.
@@EXTRA300s its not as bad when its just me on the wifi but when everyone is on it, tends to spike alot but we have the newest equipment we just got it a week ago
@@EXTRA300si had no problem with gen 2, just need to have no obstructions... And i bypassed the router of starlink with ethernet adapter, and i added a router for my devices, it's the best thing to do, you have more bandwith when you bypass starlink's router
I'm here because of Spectrum. Spectrum is absolute garbage and I have been waiting for the moment that Starlink could get consistent low ping and upload speeds above 30 Mbps. Sounds like we're close.
@@DarkestVoid Congratulations lmfao. You're the only one getting good service from Spectrum. Took two FCC complaints to just get barely usable internet in our neighborhood. They oversell bandwidth and then pretend nothing is wrong.
Thinking about switching over to starlink. Currently at the house where I reside Im on brightspeed (formerly centurylink) unfortunately. Did a speed test on my xbox today, 12.5 mbs download and .5 upload speed. Spectrum internet wont come out of the city limits and im a quarter mile away. Where I plan on moving will be even more rural and starlink will be the the only viable option anyways. According to the starlink website its on sale till october 5th.
Leaving your fiber connection for starlink has got to be the dumbest idea you could have, sure starlink has decent speeds but boy oh boy, the lightest of rain and cloud cover and it fucks up the signal so bad that it's not even funny anymore. I mean sure if you want that added hassle to your life just because your fiber connection is performing "slightly worse" then sure. Also, gaming with starlink is absolutely horrendous, constant packet loss and the ping spikes are the absolute worst. I am on the gen 2 with clear skies.
i can't wait i haven't been able to play games in years since i moved to a rural area without fiber i get 1 upload and 5 download and im getting starlink next week
Im not going to lie it works good for gaming but its constantly having lag spikes while playing warzone or apex. But most other games like far cry, halo, gta are a lot more solid. Still better than it was a while back but yeah. Wondering if there are any settings that could help improve this?
i play competitive games like call of duty and apex and i’m on hughesnet and can’t connect to the servers at all or i just lag completely. i’m switching to starlink friday do you think ill be able to play good without lag? anything i need to know before i get it
I have had mine since the 5th. No issues playing cod, siege, Fortnite etc. ping generally stays within the 50-60ms range in my area. Still better than traditional satellite by far!
If you have no obstruction, you will have no problem, take a ethernet adapter and bypass, you'll be able ton connect only one device, if you want more, you need a router, because with bypass the router isn't used, and buying yourself a good router is better you'll get more bandwith and less ping, starlink's router is bottlenecking the bandwith
Thanks for the video, Nick. I just moved out to the country on 17 acres and got Starlink. It’s WAY better in speeds than my prior internet. However, the packet bursts in call of duty multiplayer matches is HORRIBLE. It’s non stop and I’m noticing that’s a common issue with Starlink users. Do you have any remedies for the packet bursts? A third party router? Thanks man!
Nah there’s a setting in the app go to settings section then click on ur network and click split 2g and 5g network it won’t fully get rid of it but it will be a lot less and the ping will fully stop if u have a ethernet cable
@@AbesFishingadventures hey man. Been busy with work so I haven’t had the opportunity to try it yet but I’m not sure where he is seeing the option to split the 5g/2g. I’ll have to look closer over the weekend.
Im on 4g and get 42 to 80ms to the Sydney server and it has been surprisingly consistent but It doesn't look like Starlink is going to much of an improvement for me yet especially as its double the price a month. But Must would know there is a lot of money to be made by improving its performance and price so I keep looking at where its at every 6 months or so. Buying the unit has become much cheaper but the monthly cost hasn't dropped at all, anyway there is always hope.
@@kekw21234 Yeh the ping they advertise goes on top of whatever it is already locally so thats no improvement and put that with the stability issues and that its double the price and its not there yet for the foreseable future. Unfortunately 5g isnt available where I am but its priced even better than my plan so when it is I will be looking at it.
I only play sports games on my PS5 online, like Madden, MLB The Show, NBA2K and the occasional Mortal Kombat. I have COX high speed and it is plenty fast enough for my needs. But, BUT…. COX does these annoying security checks and I lose WiFi signal at least 3 times a week. That is my reason for looking into Starlink. The main pro is the fact I could take Starlink with me on the go! But is the speeds good enough for online PS5 sports gaming? I’ll keep doing some research for now. Great video.
@@kekw21234 Afte Mr sound some further research into it, I am sticking with what I have. I also contacted my current Internet provider and was able to get a price reduction to stay with them. Starlink is no longer on the radar for me.
hey , nice video, thanks for info , i got a question , i am a gamer and im from IRAN , will it work for me even tho there is no mast for starlink here ? will it be connected to eu masts?
What about content creation? For those of us that stream live on Twitch, RU-vid, and Kick etc. When we are using dual pc set ups to get great streaming clear quality for our gaming as well as low latency for increase bullet registration. It sounds like its improving I'm not making the jump just yet from spectrum….but I'm watching closely Thank you for the updates and looking for the next update video
Hello, in this video, which dish are you using brother. Latest or Priciest one is better or not? In gaming? Thanks for the video that let me know now is the sweet time to have starlink.
What about with 2% (maximum) obstructions? From the ground i have 1.5-2% obstruction but i plan to install the dishy on a 25 ft pole, so hopefully that helps. Latency is an issue for me so I'm curious how big of an impact that amount of obstruction will have.
i play cs2 on starlink, as long as I connect to a server that has less than 50ms its playable, because you will get 10-15ms spikes but if its still under 65ms thats not laggy at all
In all the years I’ve played on various different internet services where I could play competitive warzone but 2k has never worked right. I haven’t tested in on starlink but in my opinion it’d probably still be laggy and trash
We live in rural Kentucky, and are considering Starlink for our home. What is the most efficient and highest recommended way to extend your Wi-Fi signal to other outbuildings separate from your home? I’m planning to build a recording studio, not connected to the main house, in the upper floor of our barn, but require Internet for the majority of both mixing tools and posting music to different platforms Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, as well as ease of installation for a guy who isn’t exactly as tech savvy as his 27-year old kid!
