It costs $29 in Nigeria, $30 in Malawi, $31 in Zambia,, $37 in Rwanda and $50 in Kenya and its $120 monthly in the USA. So glad all rural areas almost in our state now has state fiber so 80 for 1 gig down and 700mbps upload. strain out fiber around 2 miles or if further it is alot more if want pay(40 times 12 = 480, so even extra run cost worth it as comes with free install..fiber will go a long ways off mainlines unlike hfc(cable) without continuator. starlink has very small usability use in our state and i am so glad now see speed and cost monthly alone.

Very informative! We have a Gen 2 Starlink in our office and love it. It works great!

Would the base kit work for my mobile home roof just screw through the screw hole in the stand and mebe a weight or sand bag for extra stability

@thetechguy600 15 дней назад
That should work as long as you are not driving. If you will plan to drive the motor home with the kit on your roof you will need to find a more sturdy roof mount for the dish.

@@thetechguy600 okay thank you and it's a trailer house no driving untill I get it moved to a more rural area lol

Do you have to set up a starlink account before starting the setup process? I am getting ready to buy the kit and take it up where there is currently no cell or any kind of service. I’m wondering if I need to do anything before I get up there. Thanks!

If you are planning to use your Starlink in an area that has no cell coverage or any Internet of any kind, you will absolutely want to create your account and get the Starlink set up prior to your travel as Internet is required to do the initial set up and account creation.

wonder if that modem works with gen 2 antenna
@thetechguy600
@thetechguy600 22 дня назад
I don’t believe that it will since the cable that the GEN 2 uses is different than the GEN 3.

Did the wonkyness sort itself out as you hoped? How long before/after the expected 12 hours did it stop losing connection? Thanks!!

It has indeed. It also helped to get the dish up above my homes roof to get a better view of the sky. Using this on the ground as seen in the video is certainly not ideal.

How far can you go without activating (paying) for a service contract? TIA
@thetechguy600
@thetechguy600 18 дней назад
I am not sure 100% what you mean? If you are referring to the mobile plan with pausing service, you can pause service for as long as you need.

@@thetechguy600 I found my answer, because I purchased directly from Starlink it activated the moment it connected, and billed me for the 1st month of service. I only wanted to test it and take an update without activating and starting a monthly contract at this time. Apparently this is not an option, no way to get out of the 1st monthly payment.

i get 1 gig speeds with cable for 60 bucks lol

Unfortunately I don't have access to cable or fiber where I live since I live rural. My only options are satellite or a small local ISP with ground based repeaters on top of the various surrounding foothills. Starlink compared to this mentioned local ISP is MUCH faster for the same price which is great! I do still envy those who have 1 gig fiber or cable connections though!

I get wi-fi from the phone line 100$ a month my last speed test was 22.mb download and 2.5 mb upload with 59 ping I live in rural Missouri only 200 pop in my town

honestly paying 500$ normal price and then ontop paying 150$/mo for 200/30 down vs up, is a terrible value... it works for what it is but I currently pay 110$ for 2 gigabit internet up and down and its never stuttered once

@@thetechguy600 its definitely good for that instance i agree! i just dont think the value is particularly good overall whether youre rural or urban living. Just for the fact you got such slow speeds, its almost double what 5glte can do for 150/mo, which seems crazy considering that different wireless providers charge between 80-100$ for unlimited data talk text etc etc, way better value in the starlink though over any satellite isp, hughesnet is horrendous lol

I pay 100 a month in rural mo for 59 ping 22mb download 2.5 upload not sure what mine is I have router that is connected to the phone line and WiFi is ran by the phone company also for some reason if you want home phone you have to get the slowest wi-fi plan
