Starlink Gen2 Dish installation. How to run cable through the wall? Easy way cable, wiring install

Are you having a terrible time figuring out how to bring the Starlink Gen2 Dish cabling through the wall of your house. That right angle connector looks troublesome and you would need a huge hole to bring that through the wall. Fortunately the cable connector disconnects from the dish to allow for easy passage through a 3/4" hole. Remove the cable from the dish as shown in the video and run the cabling from the inside to the outside then reconnect the cable back to the Starlink dish. The angled connector connects to the bottom of the Starlink modem.
‪@Electroguy‬ does professional Starlink installs in Ontario. we are located in Whitby in the Durham region of Southern Ontario. we service areas such as Uxbridge, Port Perry, Kawartha lakes, Halliburton, Barrie, Sunderland, Cottage country and surrounding areas.

I have seen people do it even when they had the whole cord out. There is a video online where somebody mounted the dish on the side of his house. The app informed him that the dish has tipped over. I think you very much for relieving the pain of the future installer and the anxiety of the future watcher.

What in the world were they thinking leaving this info out of the instruction manual. Im actually dumbfounded. Im literally a cable installer who has been doing this work for 8 years and I wouldnt have thought to disconnect the end at the satellite. Only reason i knew is because its meant to go through a 3/4 hole and the ferrule end wasnt doing that. Also no Etherney Port. You have to buy a special adapter? Wtf is that all about. Thisnhas to he the only modem in history without a port on it. God Damn. You sir are a legend.

The Best video on youtube regarding the subject! There are 10 million vids showing the old gen cable....people using wood bits into simple wall etc. This gen 2 comes already plugged in making people believe it is hard wired up thru the pipe-to dish. You literally will save thousands of people blasting a two inch hole into their walls/ brick. Like wow.

So I am very relieved at seeing this AND a little pissed off that this wasn’t on the installation guide. I live in a cold place and I’ve spent the last month staring at my dish waiting for it to warm up enough to feed 70’ of cable through my roof when it’s well below freezing. They really don’t want to make it easy even though I now know that it is.

its better but fishing that through walls or conduit still isn't great. Hopefully as Starlink evolves it will develop more customized options for setup. I really like that I was not forced to have someone install it but I would have liked to have more input in the hardware sent to me to install. Also fixing the payment issues and including even the most basic instruction/information would be nice since most people seeing this up don't have access to internet.

I think that the fact that most video tutorials on RU-vid feature the installation of the 1st gen dish add to the confusion, since the installation used to be done outside-in.

@Electroguy

Yep that's a good tip. Put some electrical tape over the end. Also be careful not to damage the end if you tape it to something like a fish rod. The metal connector can bend or break off if too much strain is put on it.

Sadly it seems that the V2 Dishy they're selling in Australia (cheaper) as of now are being shipped with this end glued in and some arent inserted all the way before they're glued! Lots of people mentioning it. I've had mine for a couple of months and Im pretty sure it's actually in the instructions in the Cable Routing Kit (a separate purchase) but yeah, I agree with you all: this should have been mentioned in the instructions that come with Dishy.

@elliotleonardoruizguerrero6992
Bro I’ll try to do the same but didn’t work, my question is, do I need to put the dish in to safe mode so I can pull out the cable from the dish?
@Electroguy
@Electroguy Год назад
I've removed it when it's brand new out of the box, in stow mode and when the dish was straight up in transmitting position. So what I am saying is that it does not matter. Just pull down on the cable and it should disconnect. It's just plugged in like a USB C cell phone charging adapter.
@elliotleonardoruizguerrero6992
@@Electroguy I’ve tried already and tried really hard, so I’m thinking that bc my cable was already plug in, maybe and just maybe it’s a used dish and maybe someone put it some glue or silicone to seal it. Thanks for you replay btw. Appreciate

Yes the angled part goes to the router. The straight part that fits through the wall connects to the dish
@GregBergantz
@GregBergantz Год назад
In fact, when you receive your Starlink shipment, the straight connector is already plugged into the dishy (as seen in the video). The angled connector has to go into the router or else the router won’t be able to stand upright.
@akatsukiawsome13
@akatsukiawsome13 11 месяцев назад
WOULD NOT RECOMMEND There are issues a lot of people have in reattaching the cable PROPERLY, sometimes due to factory defect. Nothing wrong with just drilling a bigger hole in the wall and using a bit of spackle people… Way better than rendering your $600 dish and $100 a month service useless/a waste of money for months as you try and try to reconnect what once worked fine.
@daxtheaxe
@daxtheaxe 11 месяцев назад
Starlink sells an install kit with a drill bit and a part that slips over the cable to protect it when fishing it through the wall. So they obviously designed it that way for the cable to be removed from the dish. Also some people have to purchase a longer cable so they would also have to remove the existing cable to plug in the new one. Another problem is that if you don't use a Starlink Mount or pole adapter then there is no lip there to help keep the cable from slipping out. Many of the issues of disconnects are caused by gravity with the cable slipping out. A bit of tape or small tie strap helps to keep the cable in place.

I have since disconnected my two 4GX Telco devices which used to give me internet from 700m away tower and was good but limited to 400GB data. Now I can still FPS and the ping is 25-60ms so even FPS gaming is really good but at least a couple of times per game it has a massive lag spike.
