Hey.... glad you enjoyed it. We'll be doing more videos in the next year. Some will be some basic travel videos and flight reviews. Some will be on our home and how we live our lives out here. Some will be followup on the starlink. We plan on doing a permanent rooftop starlink installation video and cancelling our cable! Fully offgrid! Please subscribe if you think you'll like the future vids! Mahalo!
I had to google your Atoll. Wow what a crazy remote spot. I'm familiar with many of the tiny pacific islands but for whatever reason didn't know about it. Very Unique
Yes! I was surprised to see it was the same if not better than our local cable internet provider. I don't game much but if I did at least I could enjoy it.
We cancelled StarLink about 3 months ago. Not because of speeds. They actually maintained through the entire use of the service. We cancelled because Hawaii Telecom ran fiber to our community and it is 1/3 the price with triple the speed. It also doesn't drop when the power goes out much like starlink. basically all of the benefits of starlink in our remote community were negated. We still have the dish up and ready as a backup that can be easily activated.
@@thelifealoha I understand. If the Starlink system was on a power backup supply, you should still be able to connect to the internet during a blackout? Thank you for your reply.
Service has slowed a bit but still very reliable. Can still stream 4k TV and movies as well as game with no issues. Storms/Heavy clouds affect the service for sure. Still more reliable than Comcast was. No do's or dont's. Installation was a breeze if following the instructions.
Yes it wasn't updating during testing and all updates were current. We se a bit of inconsistency now that we are a few months in. Sometimes during the day we will see speeds drop as low as 20mbps and also around 6pm at night when the west coast is getting busy. However it picks back up later in the evening Hawaii time. Have not had any issues with streaming or live TV though. I only notice if I bother to run a speed test.
We've seen random slowing in the middle of the day and peak west coast times. That being said I can only tell if I run a speed test. For our normal streaming and such we've had no issues and far less outages than what is available locally.
$100 a month. It’s $30 cheaper than our cable internet currently. BUT the equipment is $500. Still makes it a good choice for us as we are rural and have outages often.
