Are you tired of the proprietary cable that Starlink uses on the Gen 2 (articulating dish)? I found this great option that allows you to ditch that 75ft cable and convert it to an RJ45 Ethernet cable in 15 minutes without splicing wires and you can customize any length of cable you will need.
This is the Klutchteck Starlink SPX Plug to RJ45 Adapters, Waterproof Starlink Cable RJ45 Female Connectors Designed for Starlink Gen 2 Dishy and Router Starlink Accessories

Nice find Kyle! That really simplifies things and with the flexibility of choosing the cable lengths you want makes setup and teardown a lot more convenient. Great tip - thanks for making this!

Thanks guys, yes it gives you a whole lot more flexibility. While the testing has only been going on for a few days. It's been working great. Plus it's a whole lot cheaper. Replace the cables so something happen to the ethernet line.

I like this a lot. Way better than cutting and splicing. I am sure doing this while filming is a pain, but very helpful for us viewers. I even bought a spare 75' cable because I am so worried about the original connectors. Thanks for showing this.

You're exactly right, we actually have the 75-ft cable that came with it plus another 150 ft that we bought early on thinking we were going to have to either replace ours or run it further out than the 7 5 would take us. Turns out we've pretty much had it up on the roof for 2 and 1/2 years 🙂 it's way cheaper to replace ethernet cable also if something should happen to it. Thanks for watching. Glad it was helpful- Kyle and Michelle

You bet! while the sample size is small, it has been working great for the first 5 days of install.

Thank you for this video, great information. We've wondered about shortening the lead from the dish to the trailer. But didn't want to cut our cord incase we need to move it farther out to get better signal. Safe travels, hope to see you two on the road again soon.

Glad the video was helpful. While we haven't really had to test out this option very long so far for the first two days. It's working really well and it also rained last night and still no issues with connection or speeds. Safe travels and if you have any questions don't hesitate to reach out. If you decide to go this route, I put the links to the items in the video description- Kyle

I don't understand why this is preferable over cutting out a middle part of the Starlink cable, attach RJ45s and use a coupler to mate the two new ends. Then attach RJ45s to the cut out middle section and use a second coupler to reinsert the middle when you need a long cable again. That method works just as well and will be much cheaper.

Yes what you're describing would be an option, however for me to purchase the RJ45 tool and taking the time to splice the wires and separate them it just made it a heck of a lot easier to go this route and might be a little more expensive but I still have an intact 75 ft factory cable that I can use if I need to get it further out.

I DESPISE the gen 2 cables so much I bought a Gen 3 instead.

With our previous install of the factory cable we had been using this hatch. It's worked well for us. amzn.to/3V5bnJN

So theoretically you could have just created your own 12 foot cat 6 jumper. why buy that other one?
@thewanderingshores
@thewanderingshores 10 дней назад
Yeah you're correct. I could have done that but honestly I don't have any of tools to create that length and it was just an easier route for me to buy it pre-made. However, if you have all the crimping tools etc that's definitely the best option. Plus you would be able to get a very high quality cable for less.- Kyle and Michelle
