That Shimano Dialuna rod review I did is here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UiToUDNCkqk.html And for those interested in the specs of the new Vanfod FA 2500HG featured in this video, here they are: Gear Ratio: 5.8:1 Max Drag; 9kg (20lb) Weight: 175g (6.2oz) Bearings: 7+1 Line Retrieved Per Turn: 86cm (34")
Nice work Starlo, your editing is improving all the time. You always had great content, but you are stepping up your game with multiple angles and editing. Well done
Love my Vanford and the Stradic Ci4+ that came before it. There is no lighter reel on the market. My #1 choice for light and medium weight lure fishing. Note the Vanford 3000 size holds 300m of 15lb braid, but is lighter than than the Stradic Ci4+ 2500. Very useful for when the inevitable kingfish turns up.
I’m going to have to give the Vangard a go on my new trout spin outfit. I only fish about once a year for them but so far I’ve managed to Land more than a few on unweighted small soft plastics. Keep up to good work Starlo 🤘🤘
@@danielwutfisho I grabbed one in the c2500 recently for my light bream setup and it’s amazing. Incredibly light and is a dream to fish with. Paired it with a Nitro Vapor Upgrader. I also have one of the new twin power FE and that feels as buttery smooth.
@ethanlam5290 I would but having the bail arm close mid cast is really getting to me haha but I've had 2 diawa reels now do it to me and can't explain why.
Yes, there is a difference between old Vanford and the new one - mainly in the construction - you can simply feel it in hand - it feels more solid - more rigid - not like toy which is the case of older version. However, it is not vanquish at all - it has no that airy feel - it has resistance - and pretty huge resistance out of the box and it takes some time to break in but you can still feel some resistance. It also misses infinity loop which for me is the best feature of the new shimano reels. So all in all, it is still vanquish for poor - if you wanna feel real pleasure you have to buy vanquish or daiwa airity or exist.. but for the price it is good reel with much solid feel than previous version.
@@stephencyster Thanks! Must say the shallow spool thing has never bothered me. I just whack some backing on if necessary. I’d rather have the capacity to have some more line on the spool in case I hook something unexpected.
Awesome review Steve, I had issues with my ci4+ Stradics and ended up going with Twin Powers as I wasn't convinced the original Vanford was anything more than a ci4+ Stradic in a new skin. I might have to check out the new Vanford 👀
Looks good Starlo but I will be sticking to my Shimano 14000 and 10000 coupled with two ten foot Penn Allegiance || rods. Love the 14000 better than the 10000 but it’s still a good reel 😊
@@StarloGetsReel yes that’s right Starlo. I was nearly a rod and reel down a couple of weeks ago. I couldn’t put my rod holder in the sand too well and looked around and my rod was heading for the ocean. Lost the fish but you get that. Thanks for your reply I might go for a fish Friday big tides in Darwin 🙂🐟🐠
Damn you starlo.... Now I really do need a new set-up.... Just watched the rod review as well... Biggest problem is my 8yo son loves fishing more than I do so I'll need 2 otherwise I'll lose mine if I only get me one... Lol... I better start saving some coin.
I own two old models 2500/2500HG. Love them but if they have improved excellence I’ll go for it and will run to the store. They had 500 in the old version as well….
@@StarloGetsReel Ahh good for you. Now you can buy an enhanced version soon instead of having bought it earlier. Vanford FTW great bang for small buck 👍
Great Video! Thanks! I am ahead of an upgrade from Ultegra FC to this Vanford FA or the Stradic FM. What are your thoughts? Both would be a nice upgrade but still cannot decide..
@@csabapanczel6500 go the Vanford if light weight and finesse are your major considerations, or the Stradic of you want something heavier but also more “knock around” and able to handle some punishment. 👍
Check out their Sedona range for a surpringly good “budget” reel, or even a Sienna (less expensive again). There are reviews of these on my channel, too. 👍
Hey Starlo. Unrelated question here. But I'm wondering what happened to the Squidgies Bio Tough range?? They seem to be not longer available anywhere, but I can't seem to find any explanation for this at all..
Do they come with a soft knob option Starlo?, i own 3 Stradics but the round knob handle on the Revelry and Sol has won me over, will never part with my Stradics, also good to see Shimano having a go at upgrading, ive felt they got slack for a few years.
Sorry but I bought a Vanford last year 2023) and I don't like one feature. The long spool profile means that I can't always flip over the bail arm to cast, unless I stop and wind it back in. This is a nuisance. I much prefer my 2023 Stradic.
I can’t say I’ve ever encountered that issue, and I’ve fished three of the older Vanfords for a year or two now. Maybe it’s a one-off fault with that reel? Might be worth taking it back to wherever you bought it and showing them the problem.
