Sousa's lyrics are even better than this butchered version. They changed " _let despots_ remember the day" to "all nations … " and "the _flag of Freedom's_ nation" to "the banner of our nation."
When I hear this song, I just fell so patriotic. I love my country so much, yes we have done some questionable things but the good outweighs the bad. I love the United States of America so much and nothing can change that.
This is a wonderful video, because it shows the actual lyrics of the song, which have such a fine ring to them. Too bad these words aren't more widely sung.
The difference between America and other countries is that if you go to France, Britain, Germany you will not be a Frenchman, Brit or German, but if you come to America, you will be American.
@@last.atlantean totally agreed. People say America has social race issues and whatnot. Well the thing is we ar ethe country who has tried the most to get everybody to live in peace and we are the most successful in it. Other countries fall to civil war along religious ethnic and tribal lines. Our country does not. We keep missing to hit the target, but the good thing is we are the ones who shot the most and are still trying.
Sir Illuminar The Valient 200 years later still no democracy. The founding father didn't want us to vote anyways, that's why we have electoral college :D

Proud of the US? Well... Now, please check out these FACTS that are on the Web: In 250 years of existence as a nation, the US has fought against 29 sovereign countries. (In Fact, since 1785, we have been involved, for 219 years, in some kind of war. And this wars, against all varieties of nations. From going against the Sultan of Morocco, to invading the tiny island of Grenada. Well, this means that in our entire history, we have only had 17 years of peace, and even fewer, cuz here the almost 5 years of our Civil War (Union/Confeds 1861‒1865), are Not counted, since this war was not with another country, but against us. And the wars against the Native Nations of America either are not counted, for the same reason). Anyway: We fought against 29 countries. We have "Grown" 711 the size of our territory from the original 13 colonies. Our economic, political and military development was established thanks to the Piracy, the Slavery, the Opium Traffic (And Cocaine too), and the Weakness of many abused sovereign nations. We have provoked with total impunity, 12 Genocides ‒inside and outside our own borders‒, and Assassinations of Gov’t. Leaders, Coups d'État and Economic Blockades in 6 UN member nations. (Between 1947 and 1989, the US tried to change other nations gov’ts. 73 times. It includes 66 covert Ops. And 7 overt ones. In Civil Wars: The US has taken advantage of and intervened without justification in the following Civil Wars: In Cuba (1898 and 1960). In Haiti (1813 and then 1915-1934). In Colombia (1899-1902 and 1948). In Mexico (1836 and 1847 and 1914 and again in 1916). In Russia (1918). In the "Republic Banana Wars" of Central America (1912-1934). In Venezuela (1945 and again in 1948). In China (1857, and 1900, and again in 1945-1946-1949). In Korea (1950-1953). In Viet Nam (1959-1975). In Panama (1964 and again 1989). In Central Africa (1969-1974 and 1982-1988). In Nicaragua (1937 and 1985). In Bosnia (1995). In the Philippines (1898 and 1900)... In Palestine, Libya, Lebanon, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, in Kosovo, Iraq, Iran, Yemen, Afghanistan, etc.). And more: We have almost 800 Military Bases scattered around the world; 93 of which are against China. On the other hand, China and Korea (The "Axis of Evil"), in 1,000 years of history have NEVER invaded anyone. These nations have fought their Civil Wars, defended themselves against foreign invasions, and secured their immediate borders, but they have never been meddling or aggressor countries. Do you know how many Military Bases China or Korea have outside their territory? None. Zero. Any. NADA! They do not have a single Base. These are verifiable facts. Neither China nor Korea will invade the world; We do... that's DONE, as we do in the Middle East. Iran also does not have a SINGLE MILITARY BASE outside its national territory, and it is surrounded by 16 US Bases, and it is we who call the Iranians Terrorists. Do you still feel proud of US?
I found out that this performance is by The Acoustics, a QUARTET! It's hard to believe this performance isn't a choir with instruments backing them. Besides the amazing sound brought forth by only FOUR guys, it's also hecka hard to sing! Did you try to follow them? I will present this to my sing-along group to see if they are willing to do these vocal gymnastics.
Forget politics for just a second because I think it needs to be said just how amazing this song is just as a piece of music. The tempo changes, the falsettos, the crescendos. The song is so full and dynamic and Powerful. Also worth noting this version with the acapella/chorus really accentuates the power and emotion behind it. This might be one of my favorite songs ever
"During the day it's politics. But at 7pm we're friends putting our differences aside and asking each other, what's best for the country." - Tip O'Neill to Ronald Reagan
I remember my little sister singing this in 3rd grade! Then after high school I left and joined the navy and served as a corpsman of marines… they played this during our ceremonies and it reminded me of my little sister singing. I couldn’t have been any prouder to have served my country and do my duty to protect my country and family. Stars and Stripes Forever will always be my favorite hymn! Next to the Marine Corps Hymn because I was a Corpsman of Marine grunts.

These aren't the original lyrics, this is a different song to the same instrumental. The original Sousa lyrics are as follows [First Strain] Let martial note in triumph float And liberty extend its mighty hand A flag appears 'mid thunderous cheers, The banner of the Western land. The emblem of the brave and true Its folds protect no tyrant crew; The red and white and starry blue Is freedom's shield and hope. [Second Strain] Other nations may deem their flags the best And cheer them with fervid elation But the flag of the North and South and West Is the flag of flags, the flag of Freedom's nation. (repeats) Other nations may deem their flags the best And cheer them with fervid elation, But the flag of the North and South and West Is the flag of flags, the flag of Freedom's nation. [Trio] Hurrah for the flag of the free! May it wave as our standard forever, The gem of the land and the sea, The banner of the right. Let despots remember the day When our fathers with mighty endeavor Proclaimed as they marched to the fray That by their might and by their right It waves forever. [Repeat of the First Strain] Let eagle shriek from lofty peak The never-ending watchword of our land; Let summer breeze waft through the trees The echo of the chorus grand. Sing out for liberty and light, Sing out for freedom and the right. Sing out for Union and its might, O patriotic sons. [Grandioso] Hurrah for the flag of the free. May it wave as our standard forever The gem of the land and the sea, The banner of the right. Let despots remember the day When our fathers with mighty endeavor Proclaimed as they marched to the fray, That by their might and by their right It waves forever.

As a massive Sousa fan, all I can say is that this is the worst thing you could possibly do to Stars and Stripes Forever. It's so forced, it made my ears bleed. It's literally a crime. Please stop. I don't want to live anymore.
Really? John D Rockefeller and Standard Oil? Couldn't you find any pictures of John Brown (not the one that Kansas used on their album cover, painted by a Reb Traitor Sympathizer), or the Battle of Homestead?
If you ask me this would be a bop of a national athem. "Its the hope of the peoples now oppressed and the symbol of their own emancipation." Made me shed a tear.
Still a company which modernized our oil industry, doesn’t matter how greedy or corrupt it was. After all Uncle Sam cracked down on them thanks to Teddy.
Today people would rather hail their party's flag or the flag of their class or race we are all Americans. our nation is like our family and we must help and love our family and nation. The nation state is like a human body all parts must work together and never fight against itself. Hail America
national socialist American workers party NSAWP Something about saying people should place their race at the centre and “we are all Americans” is kinda contradictory. All Americans aren’t white, after all.
