Easily my favorite movie. I helped Dina Meyer back when I worked in retail. She was really nice and when I quoted the flip 6 3 hole, she gave me a high five and was super stoked to run into a Trooper fan. Good times.

Worth to note, the novel is in parts VERY different. For one, the humans are far less stupid (strategy and overall tactics). Cool they mentioned the novel, tho! I see the guy in blue knows his Heinlein stuff.

Anybody remember A.R.M.O.R.I.N.E.S : Project Swarm for PS1 and N64? When I saw and played it , It instantly reminded me of Starship troopers.

The japanese OVA of Starship Troopers is much closer to the book and is really good if you're into classic anime.

The Roughnecks computer animated TV show was AWESOME! I taped all the episodes and eventually got the DVDs. It was definitely more than just a kid's show. Shame it wasn't really finished.

I saw this in theaters with my best friend nick and his dad, when I was 11...opening night...packed theatre so we had to sit front row. What a badass experience lol. Later I bought this movie on vhs when it came out and watched a lot over that following summer. My favorite movie too due to all the undertones and soace between the lines content. It's crazy how multi layered in depth this flick is. Then I found out it was based on the book...so I got that and the opening sequence of attacks is amazing. The only thing they didnt do in the movie was the jump jet and actual armored suits. They need to remake this movie, and with today's CGI...would be amazing to see the book into a movie, but staying true to the book. Would need to be done by a reputable outfit and have a good budget. Remake!

Starship Troopers is one of my absolute favourite movies ever, so I was very happy to see an episode dedicated to it! Great episode, though I must say I was disappointed that you didnt analyze the joined showers for the soldiers in the movie anymore, but instead made it about the boobs you have seen in movies. But yeah, great episode :D

The whole movie is a satire about Jingoism, militarization, and right wing propaganda. It’s really doing it’s best to undermine Heinlein’s (the book author) true intent and make it look as absurd as it truly is.

hard to think some ppl didn't get the tone of this movie right ... maybe it's because i'm from the EU , but nonetheless this director is a Genius, and most of his work will never age imho . this movie still looks awesome and it's more than 20 years old...

Parts of the movie were filmed outside my hometown in Casper, Wyoming at a place called Hells Half Acre. All the actors stayed at a hotel in town that my parents worked at during that time. We got to hang out with one of the extras one day and he gave us a cool picture of his "platoon" . It was pretty awesome.

Sargon of Akkad did a great video on the politics of the movie. The overarching structure presented is actually extremely democratic, albeit rather militaristic. Apparently the director misinterpreted Heinlein's original system and saw it as a negative, hence the unflattering portrayal. Personally, I don't see anything wrong with it. Some colonists did an oopsie, the bugs escalated and committed an act of genocide, and humanity said "no more bugs." Seems like a standard war arrangement to me.

If I remember rightly, one of the "Would you like to know more" segments stated that the asteroid was shot out of orbit by bug plasma. Besides the gravity well y I guys mentioned, the plasma has one heck of an aim lol. I could be wrong hahaha

It's not fascism, you guys are just using small things that could technically be applied to many forms of government and are just applying it to fascism. Here's one reason it's not fascism; there's no way a fascist government would show the the death count of a massacre of it's own people. Violence IS the fundamental force in which all other force is derived. Let me give you example of what I mean. We have laws. Who enforces those laws? How are those laws enforced if a person doesn't comply? Violence. So, to say that that quote from the teacher is a portrayal of fascism is absurd because it's directly applicable to how laws are enforced. Sargon Of Akkad does a great hr and a half video talking about why this movie isn't fascism at all.

I saw this movie in theatres with my mom. She likes sci fi films a lot but after watching this one with me, She was traumatized by this film! It grossed her out and made say out loud "What the fuck!?!?" She still to this day has NEVER forgiven me.

Starship troopers is essentially what a Warhammer 40k Astra Militarum versus Tyranid movie would be. That said, if I remember correctly, the Tyranids were based on the bugs from starship troopers. I would still would love to see a Warhammer 40k movie made by an actual fan of the lore who has film making skills. Edit: spelling and completing the last sentence, as I accidentally pressed"post before I was done making the comment.

These videos come off as somewhat of a circlejerk, where everyone just nods and agrees with eachother, would rather watch them discuss seriously or just watch James do his thing without the 3 stooges.
