Except me in Duel Links. 10 duels. 3 copies of Necrovalley. Only one starting hand with it. Admittedly I won that duel but you know what happened in the others
My favorite deck: Necrovalley, the cards that search for Necrovalley, and the cards that search the cards that search Necrovalley, and the cards that protect it.
@@Greg501- hi there! Sounds like you have r heard of this series which is exactly what you described: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TCoOn3jfDIk.html
I tottally get that, though i do think starlight is a bit of a “win harder” card. there was something fun about top decking a mass destruction card and evening a one sided field. as well as the person with the advantage having to consider keeping some stuff in hand as a back up.
Im not going to lie, this series has made me a little sad that I was on hiatus during the 5d's era. It's like a happy medium between old school grindy yugioh and modern explosive yugioh.
It seems like it's a really friendly era to go back to if you want to buy physical cards now, too. A bunch of the big cards at the time like Pot of Duality and the Signer Dragons have become really easy to get with various reprints over time.
Yep, this was the time I played and liked yugioh a lot...(using simulators, though, but still lots of fun). Then it came pendulums...O found their mechanics ugly...then performapals and performages became way too consistent; I quit, waiting for them to het hit by banlists, but then we got zodiacs I quit like forever...nowadays the game looks nuts...when I watch replays it looks like everything is decided on the first and second turn
I haven't seen Joseph break this hard since he was duoed, sentried twice, and confiscated followed by cimoooo getting a pot of greed in the beginning of the series.
I just realised now that were done with 2010 Xyzs aren't that far away now, which is kinda rad. Also I think this is the first time we've seen new Synchros in this series since like Hidden Arsenal 1
@@pyrotempestwing honestly it's more to distinguish it from the XYZ Dragon Cannon, as it's pronounced ex ceez or exceed, but it's probably more just my own personal preference
I stopped playing around this time shortly after I pulled a Duality and then traded it off to a local shop for a game console. Then it got reprinted in a tin and the price fell through the floor like a month later. 🤣 Game is just so ridiculous with it's price points that I lost interest. Fun to watch though, so many memories of this era.
That's combo decks for you. Even in the modern format, it's not necessarily that a deck like drytron is less consistent than the other decks, but their weaker hands tend to be much weaker than comparable hands of other decks.
It's hilarious how Starstrike Blast just had nothing but bangers for it's card set. Anytime you look for an older card that's been overlooked in some form, you see STBL in the corner of the art. Freaking love that about this set.
The nostalgia for me with this episode is unreal. I was playing GKs during this time period. When Recruiter was revealed, my excitement was immeasurable. So much fun! For me, at least. My varient played Royal Decree. If I got Necrovalley and RD on turn one, I basically made them scoop.
Yeah weirdly this episode made me nostalgic with the Gravekeepers even though I never played them. My cousins played Gravekeepers around this time which brings back memories.
I don't think you can activate Starlight Road if you can't SS Stardust, meaning Cimo would have gotten his back row cleared. So it did, in fact, matter.
@@aliesterus1.023 it’s a “then, you can” effect. The summon is optional. But i get where you’re coming from. If it wasn’t optional then it woulda been a huge game changer for sure.
This episode gave me PTSD from this era. Gravekeepers absolutely FLOODED the locals scene with how easily accesible it was to make (sans the Duality before reprints). And with how frequent of a rogue deck GK's were throughout the early 2010's, I've got a sinking feeling that we are gonna see more of them. -Ryu
0:59 MBT's deck 3:46 Cimoooooo's Deck 9:46 Game 1 begins 23:00 Game 2 30:53 Game 3 for fun 31:59 this is gonna appear in the highlights of the year, isn't it? 33:!4 Game 4 for fun ? begins 42:52 MBT finally reacts to "talk dirty to me MBT"
I'm rather spiteful of them because my brother had a friend that generally played it and it is not a fun deck to play against, though I did have fun once when I summoned Obelisk against him and he just had no outs because of Obelisk being immune to targeting effects :P
This era of GKs was a blast. I used to tech Malefic Cyber End Dragon too for the 4k body 😂 P. S. At this time the necrovalley rulings allowed cards like Sangan and plaguespreader to still active in grave 🤣
What eratta stopped Sangan from activating, to my knowledge Necro Never stopped GY effects from activating, just negated any effects that would Move cards from the GY anywhere else, and for a time which I think is Still the current Errata being also negating attribute changes in the Gy
This episode makes me so happy. Gravekeepers were the first deck I played and one of my favorite decks. Being a budget deck is why I played it. I had a lot of these cards as a kid from the Goat format days and just updated it.
The Gravekeeper deck has a special place for me. One of my friends in High School loved to play Gravekeepers, and had a fully blinged out version of the deck that he'd play even deep into XYZ era. Many memories of just how frustrating Necrovalley was to deal with.
Oh man, early 2011 was a great period for me Six samurai was my first deck I ever got, thanks to some leftover cards my cousin gave me from his Strike of Neos collection When stardust overdrive released, I think I spent all my allowance trying to get some earthbound immortal cards, and I ended up with 3 copies of gateway instead. I wasn’t complaining, but 4 boxes of that with only a single Ccarayhua to show for it was…disappointing Then Storm of Ragnarok came, or as my friends called it, Storm of the six. And I dove for legendary six samurai cards and I got some pretty decent pulls out from there And that’s how I fell in love with the PTSD Samurai Which I still don’t understand how they get so much hate. You’d be fine getting ftk’d with firewall dragon loop or frog FTK, hell even 3 master peace, but Shi En is where u draw the line?
I irrationally hated Shi En back in the day too. Dunno why but I'd always put a ton of six sam hate in my side even when I wasn't especially likely to play it.
I think it was because at the time Negates weren't the name of the game(there was some but it wasn't as oppressive) and Yugioh players hated being told "No" every turn so easily. The same thing happened when Infinity was big during Pend era. We just got used to boards full of negates, since every deck had them at that point. But Shi en and Infinity's time? Negates weren't common and that felt "unfair".
I think it can be summarized as losing T1 hurts, but you can move on and find something else to do. Being made to sit and not be able to do anything of value without being actually dead yet just sucks.
It has been awhike so I'll probably have some wrong details but I believe it was from an online 3v3 tournament where MBT, Farfa, and Gage(maybe?) played in. Someone brought Gravekeepers (really just Dragoon-Necrovalley turbo). Either someone in the chat, or MBT, or Farfa started the whole "share if you play gravekeepers"
I play gravekeepers and never knew they were tier 1. Royal tribute is ridiculous, and they’re so consistent there’s no crack back. God I feel sorry for mbt after this and look forward to six sams ,my favorite deck, dominating one of our protagonists.
19:37 Fluff Tokens are wind, so you can't use them for Nat Beast Also Stele shouldn't work under the "current" erratum of Necrovalley, because it says "can't be negated by NV", but NV says that cards in the graveyard can't be affected. Unless Stele said something else at the time
It could be something like warrior of Atlantis, which shouldn’t be able to search A Legendary Ocean (which is always treated as umi), but still can due to rulings.
I stopped playing Yugioh around 2007 and briefly returned thanks to dueling network in 2010/2011. This Gravekeeper deck was more or less exactly what I played, as I had loved them before I quit and I was very happy to see them as meta contenders. Knowing what this episode would be put a big smile on my face before I even hit play.
For a moment i thinked:"wait, but he already did this episode of the progression series" then i looked at the series and WTH YOU ARE ALREADY THERE OMG. how the time flies
as someone who unironically adores stun decks, and who played the marik structure as a kid, these last two episodes have been an absolute joy. that triple caius turn was so fucking funny lmao
What is it with Gravekeepers and being one of the most consistent decks ever without needing a super comprehensive engine outside of an in archetype terraforming?
@@DrDrao the deck is pretty die rolly, in a lot of ways gren maju is the superior stun deck, although now I would probably say it's floowander. Necrovalley is a crazy flood gate, but the top decks can play around it rather well right now
Gravekeepers bring back so many memories. The Merrick Structure Deck was the first deck I ever owned and it was really good IMO. Definitely a goated deck in my books.
If you guys remember in the Progression Series episode for Starstrike Blast, Cimo did Gage in with "DAMAGE STEP FOR GAME, DOUBLE KALUT!!!" during Game 1. (Spoilers below) Now, here, it's "Necrovalley then Royal Tribute, GG NO RE" to MBT in Game 3 for the 3-0 sweep 😂
Also, I would use Book of Moon to set Tytaniall and then tribute GK to destroy with Descendant. I would not risk losing board presence with so few monsters in the deck.
What I can't wait for is history of jank when gravekeeper's supernaturalist comes out, that card is sooooo fucking good and underrated for GK's my god.
I remember basically this GK list is what got me back into the game around that time. I traded a BLS for the solemn warning and got the dualities from a mega tin reprint. The only thing I played differently was 3 malefic cyber end dragon, plus forbidden lance and chalice. A free 4000 beater while recruiter blew up the opposition was hard to say no to lol
I may get any amount of hate for this but I truly love playing gravekeeper's myself so this is by far one of my favorite episodes. I also thought gravekeeper's were more of a Ishizu thing than Marik thing but, also Ishizu is my Yugioh waifu
About the budget part, Allure of Darkness, Mirror Force, and Solemn Judgment, D Prison, Starlight Road, Stardust Dragon... Those were still far (years even) from any reprints that'd make them pennystocks the way they are today, and also were more huh... good, than they are concidered today. Allure and Mirror were still a solid 20 to 30 USD for example. Btw, I'm so happy to finally see Foolish Burial's existence acknowledged outside of Lightswornds for this era decks being showcased. A shame Plant Synchro doesn't get to show off but it's still a prevalent deck through 2011 so there's plenty of time xD
Never played gravekeepers in real yugioh, but in duel links i went KOG back when grass was at 3. Omg the deck was sick. That grass looks greener plus Magical fusion into Quintet magician, it was game over. Gravekeeper have one fusion monster, it is sicka sa well, and a monster that lets you fusion sumon while Necrovalley was on field. One of the best deck I played with 😁
I HAVE A GOOD IDEA FOR A VIDEO you and others yugutubers should recreate the final stages of classic yugioh events of the past. you and 3 others use the decks that played in the semi finals of some iconic year
This was the first format tht I had a real deck for. I ran Fishborg Frog Monarchs from this point well into the Xyz era. So much nostalgia in this set.
I'm interested to see how they manage the wheel as the series goes on. Eventually there will be formats that aren't as popular as Edison or Goat that will have enough decks to have multiple weeks. I hope they stick around a few weeks in more formats and keep the series going :) my fav yugioh series
Gravekeepers are evil! Last tournament I went to my first match was against Gravekeepers. It tore my poor Rikkas to shreds. I couldn't special summon, my graveyard was completely locked. The only thing I had going for me was Black Garden, and really all it did was stall out for a few turns.
