Amazing video--thank you for posting. I'm thinking about starting my own consulting gig and this has really helped me think through some important things.
QUESTION: "I deal with accounting data, and the cleaner the data, the better action plan. Trying to convince client not to put bad data in, is very trying on me." Client not listening is super frustrating and it's something we all go through. When you have that conversion and it's clear they aren't going to listen you have two options: A) Fire the client. Let them go off and do their own thing B) Remove Yourself - If possible remove yourself from the area of your engagement they aren't listening. You can't be the expert while dealing with a mess your client makes. Plus even though they wanted to do things that way, as soon as you touch it, it's your responsibility. For example as an agency when a client doesn't want to follow our advice on their site, we remove ourselves completely. No copywriting, no web development, no feedback. We just run the ads and let them handle the site. You see if we still develop and optimize when they are doing something dumb, we are still on the hook even though it's not what we wanted. Most cases we let the client go because we don't want to be held responsible for their mistake - you only get one reputation. I've had clients blame me for campaigns not working when they demanded we do it their way.... As soon as you touch it, your going to be the scape goat when it doesn't work... plus if it does; the client will just take credit since it was their idea.... lose-lose.

Just wanted to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude for the incredible content and all the free value youve given us Jason. Please note, the link to your free consulting playbook does not seem to work anymore
Hi there, thanks so much for watching and for your feedback! Hi Jason, I am consulting for a few clients and am at a point where it's becoming more long term. How do I separate all the extra I am doing for each client which has become almost free work on my end? How can I go about booking a call with you?
Hey, I just want to say.. your content is the best and easily digestible I have seen on RU-vid in all my life. Thank you so much. I really want to work with you. I have a lot of experience with start ups and client acquisition. Please let me know when you/ if you ever are looking for outbound or inbound closers, partners or any remote work. Eternally Grateful.
Wow, thank you so much 🙏.... Thank you for the kind offer and I'll keep that in mind the next time we are opening up a position like that. Wish you the best in your own business and channel!
I want to start a consultancy firm in Canada. How best should I go about lending credibility to myself in the beginning. I understand the issues I'm tackling and I understand the companies which I'm going to aim for as clients. But the nature of what I wish to consult on needs me to be able to speak to positions higher than standard managerial levels. I need to be consulting to the Boards, CEOS, CFOS, and shareholders. Without a higher education it seems impossible to get into contact with these people, regardless of the demonstrable positive impacts of the initiatives I am introducing.
This is a fantastic video. Thank you so much for sharing this information and the effort you put into recording this. I've watched this 3 times already 😆
Have you read Maister’s book, “managing the professional service firm”? Your video seems to be targeted at what Maister calls “the efficiency practice.” This is a practice of low skilled work that can be systematized and where the money is made at scale. For those of us who have skills worth a lot more than $2k, do you have any resources on establishing a practice providing higher ticket, more cutting edge services?
I have not read the book and disagree with the conclusion. Every service can be systemized; $2k or $10k. I've used this exact systemization process for $10k services, as well as $750 services.... Now 'coaching' or consulting that's just giving advice can't follow this model - which is okay because there is no physical work - it's just answering questions and brainstorming. Everything can be systemized; even the most cutting edge services - you've got this!
Not finished with the video yet, but thank you. 1. Your first couple steps are 100% methods I've been needing for a while. 2. I usually play videos like this on 2x speed because there's so much wasted time, but not this one. You jump right into the good stuff and everything you've provided up to this point I've actually paused to digest lol 3. Tried getting a copy of the Consulting Playbook, not sure if you discontinued it or if it's just not coming to my email. Adding: Just finished the video. Thank you so much for everything you poured into this video, ended up starting it over to take notes since i couldn't get the playbook to come through.
Sorry the email didn't go through - we've had a lot of issues lately but will fix soon. Thank you so much for your kind words and humbled you found the strategy so helpful!🙏
Great video, got me moving in the right direction. will provide additional comments, once, the first client results and upsell are done! more to come..
Good old fashion paper... You have the employees log whatever it is you want to track in a notebook. They sign with date and types.... Scan it and pay a VA to drop it into a spreadsheet so you can do your work!
Thank you😅! Currently experimenting with new designs as I've gotten to behind with the current designs.... already showing better click throughs. I'll be sharing a post about the change soon. Thanks for your encouragement.
Hi Jason! Thanks for the video! My productised service is £60k. Do you believe in providing a payment plan, or getting the full payment up front? The delivery time is 3 months for the client.
Your client and industry will play a big role in the payment terms. If it's standard to be paid up front in your industry then go full up front. Most of the time for us it's a two or three payment strategy for higher ticket offers. We always get paid BEFORE the next phase though.
Good stuff!! Thinking about going into this field. Have a lot business experience. My family and I have owned businesses for years. So we have a lot practical hands on “doing it”.
Hi mate, valuable video thank you! FYI your top links to the playbook etc are broken. I found the pdfs on your site so all good (just what I needed!), just wanted to let you know!

Business consultants analyze, strategize, and provide solutions for various business aspects, including operations, marketing, finance, and management, to optimize performance.
I’m still trying to figure out what exactly it is I’m doing lol, maybe you can help if I explain it. I’m Starting a channel on RU-vid with the goal of getting monetized, but it will also act as a hun to have new managers and cooks pay membership fees for special access to personally help them get better. Like a cook/manager tutoring support program almost. I want to have the price point be in such a way that line cooks that don’t have a lot of resources can get the service for a 5 dollar membership fee but manager packages will vary. I know it seems convoluted but I really think something like this can work. It would almost be like a freelancing corporate trainer if that makes sense.
Not convoluted at all. Your content is awesome btw.... videos and shorts - just watched a few parts..... For your membership idea makes perfect sense. Having different pricing tiers depending upon the access/content they get. I strongly recommend you use a software to host your membership content and not do it through youtube - you want more control than what YT will provide. Systeme.io / ThriveCart Learn / Thinktific are the ones to checkout based upon what you want to do. If you want interaction between students Thinktific is probably the way to do it. Feel free to comment again with more questions or let me know I missed the mark
Jason thank for a great video. I was unable to download the playbook. After entering my info and clicking on download it simply refreshes and info lines are blank again. Plz advise, thanks.

This was awesome info! Thank you. I have a question about pricing structure. I’m looking to grow my consulting business and need to start hiring freelancers. I’m not sure how to start charging my clients so that this extra help is covered as well as making sure I get paid properly, while still making a profit. Any tips?
List out all the freelancers you have to hire, then their price per hour and how much time you think will take them. Add 3-4 hours as a buffer and go with it.... It's just a estimate until a real project comes in. Hope that helps.
Hi Rebecca, I help agencies and businesses with their email marketing in a freelance capacity to create conversations and drive conversions and would love to work with you on projects that need extra great hands. Need my services?
@Jason whaling hey I purchased the first 2 packages now I'm ready to purchase the last but I don't want to purchase the first 2 again how can this be done?
With the front end packages you wouldn't be asking people to buy them over again. You'd most likely just charge the difference since you've already done work for them so it's more of an addon at that point.
