There are so many travel vlogs (especially couples vlogs) out there that are...well...let's face it, just bad. It always feels a little phony like they care more about how they come across on RU-vid instead of what's happening in the moment, they kinda make these half hearted half researched recommendations that you hear on every other vlog, and in the end you usually feel like the video was really all about them and not about the travel at all. None of that is true about this channel. I only discovered your channel by chance today but after watching one video I wanted to subscribe right away. No pretentiousness, no fluff, just great travel videos. Y'all are just genuine and passionate and it shows. And that really makes for great content, pure and simple. You both are doing a fantastic job - hope that you get to keep doing what you do, and I'll keep following.

Thank you so much for this thoughtful comment!! Whenever we're feeling down in the future, we're going to go back and read this. It means a lot for you to take the time to tell us that and we really appreciate you ❤️

You must travel extremely lightly. I would like to do this but short stays would be difficult for me b/c I have 2 large suitcases and a backpack. I think I would need to travel with less...

Traveling with less definitely feels freeing! Even 13 years into living and traveling abroad, we still aren't great at packing. But we have managed to get down to two carry-on-sized bags, one checked bag, and two small backpacks between us.

What countries are not on the house sitter/pet sitter website? And what countries are on the website? Is there a way to be able to find out before you sign up?

Great question! House sits can be anywhere in the world, but it depends on where members are located, and it varies depending on when people need house sitters. Here's a link to some of the available locations on Trusted Housesitters. www.trustedhousesitters.com/sitemap/house-sits/ There are always plenty of house sits available in the US, UK, Australia, and France year round. Especially in the summer and winter and around other popular holiday times you'll find lots more house sits all over the world. We've done sits in Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Romania, Spain, France, the UK, Peru, Costa Rica, and Panama just to give you an idea. New house sits pop up every day on the website. With the Standard and Premium memberships you can set alerts for specific locations and dates so you can keep an eye on the house sits you specifically want.

So what are some important questions to ask about the home owner? Ever had a situation wher you wished you asked a certain question but didn't and regretted later?
@Twocantravel

Great question! Stevo put together this article on our website with 37 questions to ask a homeowner before a sit: twocantravel.com/questions-to-ask-before-house-sitting/

So do you find ppl who specifically allow more than one sitter, or is it just an automatic thing since they see you both on your profile? Is this something I could do with a friend in another state? Also, I thought they accommodated your travel in exchange for your services, but I keep seeing ppl mention cancellation fees. So what parts of the travel has to be covered by the sitters? And are there any sites like this that pay you, ones that you’re personally familiar with? Oh and you guys mentioned a tourist visa, so is that something that replaces the use of a passport? I’m not sure what that is..
@Twocantravel
@Twocantravel Год назад
These are great questions! Some homeowners specify if they would prefer an individual or a couple in their profile. Some homeowners also accept families and people with their own pets. We always apply as a couple and introduce both of us in our first message to the homeowner, so I'm sure you could do the same with your friend. House sitters are responsible for their own travel to and from a sit. However, sometimes homeowners will offer to pick you up from the airport/train station/bus station. It just depends. Trusted House Sitters offers sit cancellation protection so if a homeowner cancels and you've already booked your travel, you can be compensated. We're not sure which house sitting sites pay you as we haven't used any personally. If you travel internationally for a house sit, then you might need to get a tourist visa to enter that country depending on what passport you have. The tourist visa goes in your passport. You may not be required to get a tourist visa for some countries, it just depends so you'll need to Google it. If you're going to Europe in 2024 you may need to get ETIAS. We made another video about that. It's really straightforward but it's good to know. Hope this helps :) Feel free to ask any other questions that come up! ETIAS video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Z_3gdQJHFLA.htmlsi=DUw8hBb6Wm653pW4

@@Twocantravel Thanks for your response!! Ohh I see, you’d basically still need a passport then. Ok I’m sorry if I’m being repetitive lol but I still don’t understand. If the sitter pays for their own travel and membership, then why would they house or pet sit for free? I thought the exchange was that you take care of the house/pets, etc. and they’d cover your travel expenses. So basically, this is just something fun to do? I mean I guess you technically don’t pay for the stay itself tho…

No worries! Exactly, you get free accommodation and in exchange you care for the pets and house. For us, it means we get to travel and live in new places which we love, so we feel the exchange is totally worth it. And we save a ton of money not having to pay for hotels or Airbnbs. A lot of people house sit closer to home as well for weekend trips. We put up a video today about our review of Trusted Housesitters and how the platform works if you want to check that out and we show the backend of the website too. /ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AyQ82zDNm0A.htmlsi=nXQHKS0dan5gHxN2 @@riyahworld
