If you've been following the channel for a while, you will have seen Young Bob's journey through instrument and commercial training. He's blown through those and is now onto finally sitting in the right seat where he will learn how to fly and instruct. This is the first time he has flown for the right side and any CFI will tell you, it's definitely not as easy as it looks.
Watch as Young Bob get's to grips with his new seat and deals with a few unruly student moments along the way!
Enjoy the flight!

Becoming a CRI right now, so going through some of this as well. This was stellar performance as a FI for the first time! It's so hard to process what goes on, convert it into teachable words and still make it work. Well done!

Good stuff. My instructor would KILL me when I would say “add a little” “little bit more” what does that mean? Do you mean 20 degrees of bank or 60? What’s a little? CFI initial is definitely a handful but it makes you a very good pilot.

Wonder if Australians/British people have it easier, since we drive on the correct side of the road in motor vehicles and stuff so we can have our swords drawn at any minute with our dominate hand. Handy in cars and planes really these days.

Current instructor/former airline pilot here. Great job with the CFI teaching! I find the hardest part of teaching is patience. Having the patience to let students mess up without correcting them the 7th time they are doing the same maneuver. Patience I think is the hardest part of any flying job. Not just instructing. Keep up the great work! You’re a great CFI!

Fun video! Many, many years ago I was fortunate enough to be asked if I could be the out-of-control skydiving student for one soon-to-be-certified Accelerated Free Fall instructor. Tumbling and spinning, seemingly uncontrolled towards earth, completely unsymetrical, doing the opposite of what I usually did and being as unstable as possible, it was great fun. The instrctor dealt with it very well and hopefully he found it fun as well!

Such a great video and amazing to see the different perspective. I've still not gotten up the courage to ask my CFI when he knows when to jump in as we got into some squirrely landings so it is really eyeing opening to have to walk through the process as you did. Also young Bob quotes - "we are landing a plane" might just become a go to.

I just asked my CFI to give me some time in the right seat time to try some landings--file it under 'being a better safety pilot' category, I guess. (late instrument student, not quite ready for commercial or CFI yet!--that'd be cool, though!) Read my mind! thank you kind sirs.

One of my first students had all the requirements and finally got his medical approved so he just needed some refresher after 7 months. I figured he could land a plane just fine. MISTAKE! I didn't have my feet near the rudders and wasn't ready to take over. I kid you not he gets to the flare and goes full back pressure and is using right aileron to maintain centerline. In a split second I had to take over and do a go around. Closest I've been to disaster and now I'm more adherent regardless of a students skills

You're not as sarcastic as my CFI was , but a damn close second. I showed up for my discovery flight well prepared and did the takeoff minus rudders and flew the large pattern and did all the throttle and flaps and decent and then asked a dumb question. I said "you want me to land this"? He turned to me and deadpan stared at me for like 5 seconds and replied "well you have 12 minutes experience in a Cherokee , you figure you're ready"? Followed by "My Controls". It was basically that sense of humor for the rest of my training and a great contributor to my successes.

It's funny how similar this is to me teaching scuba diving. My instructor would regularly spit out his regulator and I thought he was being ridiculous but sure enough, one day I'm down at 40 feet with a discover scuba diver and this guy freaks out and starts pulling himself up the line to the surface and spit his regulator out. I had to shove it in his mouth, clear it for him (get all the water out of it) and hold him to the line to get him to calm down. He did it again on the way up and i did the same thing and finally he chilled out on the way up. thank god he was fine and i was too and glad i had a good instructor to run me through scenarios like that.
