Talking about first impressions... my first time with Thracia was with Dagdar equipped with hammer against the first boss, at the start of the battle the man did kind of a warcry and started running and did a spinning attack and oneshotted the armor knight. Never stopped using that dude in my army. One of the best prepromotes of the series both in combat and story.
Can we seriously take a minute and appreciate how well crafted this track actually is for a "defense" theme in a Fire Emblem game ? Most of them usually sound like they're somewhat intimidating at best. But here, it really feels panicky and ominous, like you could get crushed in an instant. A very good depiction of the mood set in the whole game.
It sounds like the composer had no idea what they fuck they were doing here and stumbled on something usable. For reference, I compared this to the defense themes of its spiritual successor, Path of Radiance. The people who'd compliment those themes do it over tea.
I'm a little late to the party, but I just wanted to also express how much I love this track. Enemy attacks sound dark and forboding in other FE games, but Thracia's sounds like two men desperately fighting over a knife. It's so good.
