I love your video. Thank you for not editing out when you were dropping in your lining. We all have those moments! I needed to know I'm not the only one. ❤
The JUKI really is a quality machine. I am saving to buy one. The ease in which the presser foot produces a refined, professional look is second to none..😌❤
It is what I teach! We are all learners first and foremost! The most successful people in the world fail over and over again until they get it right! It is a false notion that you start out and go straight to perfection!!!!! This is why so many of us in the world give up before we succeed! I need to do a video on just this!!
I love watching an experienced sewer, always a joy learning new techniques. I feel so inspired to learn new from your skills. I especially appreciate that you explain as u work, like a surgeon teaching interns 😅
Your bag is gorgeous! I realized when you said "breathe" that I was holding my breath. Loved the video and excited to see how you do the strap. Been praying for your hubby everyday!
Thank you! He hasn't got the test results back yet!! We should know within a week or so! I appreciate your prayers more than you know! I feel so blessed to be here !
Thank you for your selfless honesty!! I know I can’t be the only one to appreciate seeing mistakes like the ones I make! That’s the only way to learn. Your bag is gorgeous!!!! Thank you!!❤
Thank you for such a great video. You are a natural teacher and I loved it when you showed we all make the blunders from time to time. Definitely a fan. Looking forward to the next.
Don't do the fun stuff off camera. It's nice to see someone else fussing around trying to remember how to put their stuff together. The slight quirkiness is well received. Thank you for reminding us to have patience.
I ran across your site and love your designs, bags and instructions! You have beautiful fabrics, materials, and so nice to find someone who makes bags that look more designer-quality not crafty looking! I love your black and white pants! I’m also a black/white person!
That is one gorgeous bag, Renee! Love the way you did the zipper pocket, it's so neat! On 33:11 I was like "oh no, not that way" (btw, that always happened to me too whenever it's time to insert the lining ). I just love watching you make the bag, thanks for sharing!
Really enjoyed your video! Thanks for making me LOL! I’m going to try making my slip pockets the way you do them. Loved the end result! The bag is gorgeous!
Great video, Renee 😊 Thanks for your tutorial and not cutting out any hiccups you experienced. It’s so helpful to see that I’m not alone! And imagine my delight that you topstitched with your Thor GC 1341. I received mine just last week, and I will be topstitching using my Thor for the Moonwake that I’m making. I enjoy your videos 🥰
I’m so happy to see you make mistakes, because that tells me YOUR HUMAN 😅😅. I love sharing the fact that we are human and make errors. Love your technique of sewing. I make bags as you, and my Jewelry is called “1OneofaK1nd”. So I’m with you taking something and making it unique. My Tutu’s are the same 1OneofaK1nd… keep it up. Love your channel.
You know the most successful people have failed over and over again and again! But they never lost their enthusiasm!!! It is not our mistakes that define us… it is who we become in the process of working on our goals. Thank you Linda! So excited about your jewelry as well! 💕
Loved the video, had to laugh when you were putting the lining on the outside of the bag, it’s something I would do…lol. The bag looked great. Can’t wait until you do the strap. 💕
Thank you so much for the demo on the zipper with the overlay! I have avoided overlay zippers because it drove me crazy to have to cut off so much fabric. With the way you did it there is no waist.
Great stuff! You had me when you started to put the bag in the lining, this is almost identical in shape to a bag I've started with a Harris Tweed jacket. Thank you.
Thanks so much for the video! I was cracking up when you were installing it. I have to stop myself from turning the lining every time I get done with it.
Since we last spoke, I've made 2 drop-in bags. After some fine tuning, I discovered shrinking the seam allowance (at the rim) by 3/16 (on each side, 3/8 total) all of the excess material around the rim was gone! I was so happy. I did still taper in after about an inch, like you did. I use a pretty heavy interface, so excess material is a real pain.
I go back and forth between birthing bags and drop in lining...I was not sure if I wanted to keep this part in, then I thought...why not? You know that we all do this sort of thing and I am all about being authentic! So appreciate your patience with it!
@@Jlayism Totally human! It is exactly what I want you to know is that we operate no differently than anyone else. Mistakes give you plenty of data, they are extremely important in the process of success!
While you were showing how to put in the lining I thought you might need a cup of coffee, but then I saw the Mountain dew and I said to myself that is what she needs. 😀🤭
Hahah - that confused me - nearly left the show LOL - why did you not edit out some...of that? ....ummmm little mistakes are good but that was a big one. Anyway thankfully I stuck with you despite confusion! You are so honest
You must be new to my channel! welcome! So what we do here is focus on learning! I've been sewing for over 50 years...I purposely show mistakes. I started sewing in factories back in the 1970s and it's important that I share being real as part of the process of getting to the end result. So glad you were able to stick to the end. Editing out part of the process would not have been helpful and would have given everyone a false sense of what I am doing here. My goal at the end of every day is what did I learn...mistakes are full of data...It has made me successful in everything I have accomplished in life! I wish the same thing for you! Laughing about it ....even better!
I love the video. Your attention to detail is awesome. I like that you walked us through the steps. I wish I had a cylinder arm machine. I love the drop in linings Please share where you get your hardware. It is so beautiful, I would love to know your source.
Glenda thank you sew much! I have several sources for hardware! My fav is Ning Bags and they have decided to close their retails store! So bummed about this! I also shop Pursesuppliesrus on Etsy as well as Bringberry. Those are the top 3 I shop.
The drop in lining…..I kept wanting to yell at you! So funny. You started today what you liked about the duckbill scissors, but then you had to answer the door. What do you like about them? Enjoyed the video!
I kept that in on purpose Karen! I thought it was hysterical! I have two pair of those scissors! They reduce the risk of catching fabric on two thicknesses and you can cut closely and precisely also great around curves! Thank you again! I appreciate you and your sense of humor!
Beautiful bag! Great video and very realistic! When sewing with leather, and even some vinyls, whether the 1541or your Thor, how do you stop the feed dogs from chewing on the leather/vinyl? I wish they made a Teflon walking foot for the 1541, but then there are still feed dogs.
Where do you buy your double sided tape? Thank you in advance for your help. Really enjoy your videos. I love bags and love making them but my stuff is very simple.
Gee whiz. I wish I had seen this video before I made my last two bags. I was so upset with myself when I added the slip pockets. I did not like the bottom of them, not to mention when turning out..they just never look crisp and straight like the one in your video. Guess how I’m doing it next time. Thank you for sharing this technique.
Hi Renee, in the video you said you were using the same grey thread throughout the bag. Does that mean the same weight as well? If you used the Mara on the domestic Juki were you using that as well on the 1541 and on Thor? Just wondering how fine you can go on the thread on those two industrial machines. Thanks
I only used the gray Mara on the domestic for this lining. The rest of the bag was violet leather. I use Tex 69/70 bonded poly on the industrial machines for this bag. In the old days I have used the Mara 70 on my industrials, but not in a long time.
Thank you Betsy! This bag is the Chloe bag from Shamballa! I am sure that I finished my version differently than the pattern though as all my interiors are done the same.
I received it in a bundle from Springfield Leather. Unfortunately they no longer carry it!! I contacted them two days ago and it is not in their stock currently. 😫
The pattern is the Chloe by Shamballa, however, I do my own interiors on each pattern. I pretty much do all my interiors the same as I have shown here.
