It worked 🤩 I ran out of yarn…. But this was such a helpful video!!! I have never knitted anything and it was so exciting to see a blanket being created right before my very eyes…. With my own two hands!!!🙌
😢really struggling the edges as in the sides all look so wonky and I really struggled with going back and forth feeding the loops to the top but then the bottom 😅
I learned more from your video than anyone else’s. Thank you. My throw is pretty but my ending end is not as wide as my beginning end. What did I do? Inconsistent loops?
Thank you Thank you Thank you sooo much!! I looked through A LOT of videos and then I found yours🎉and you made it slow and easy! This is a $50 blanket that don’t “look” like a $50 blanket!…lol…want to do with all the scrap pieces I’m going to have😅
You shouldn't have much scraps at all. Mine were for cutting the ends after I tied them off but now in this video I learned something WAY COOLER like burning the ends! I'm still trying to find out the size of this blanket or how many skeins she used. Anyone know? LOL
Thank you for showing the burning of the ends to attach together! I have seen another video of someone going for a torch, but edited out what they did with it. I love that trick instead of tying the ends together. No bulky knot to try to hide!
Amazing Tutorial!!! Thank You so much for showing & explaining it very clearly that I feel I can do this and make my own blanket! You are wonderful for showing & sharing this! Blessings
Thank you very much for your tutorial! I am pretty sure I have the exact same yarn (in white). I've been trying to knit it into a blanket for quite a while but it's been challenging using traditional needles. I'm excited to try this out! Very easy to follow and I appreciate all of the little tips and tricks from beginning to finish
It turned out so beautiful. It makes me really want to try one but so afraid I won’t be able to do it but I love watching the videos. Maybe someday I’ll try.
YES, TRY! You will LOVE IT! I was going to take a class but then watched a few videos and made 2 huge blankets already! Still learning too so this video was new for me and I learned even more! The best part about these (cuz I screwed up at first, threw it in a bag) and started with a new skein after watching another video! LOL That's the great part, when I got down to the end, I took that one out of the bag and just undid it! They are just loops and come undone really easy if you make a mistake while going along! I LOVE THAT! LOL GO FOR IT & Have some FUN! :) I buy my yarn at Hobby Lobby because it's 30% off every other week which makes them about $5.60 a Skein. EASY PEASY! Please GO FOR IT!!
I never thought about burning the yard together. Thanks! I use the pattern to alternate looping up through the bottom and then down on the next stitch. It keeps the blanket from curling.
Thank you so much! I’ve been saying as soon as I finish crocheting the Afghan I’m working on I might try one of these. You have convinced me! I’m so excited to make one. I’ve never used this kind of yarn. Where do you think has the best yarn like this as far as quality and price?
@@thehivetopeka you carry your own? Oh wow that’s great! I’ll definitely remember this. I’ve noticed Hobby Lobby has a better selection. I haven’t looked at Joann’s but I will check it out. Our Michaels doesn’t have a nice selection either. Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to me! I really appreciate it!
@@melaniegee Just curious how big are you making your blanket or should I ask, how many loops did you start with? My first one I did 35 loops and the second I made 15 loops. Both using 8 skeins but they are BIG! So big that I am going to make a couple lap blankets & I think 6 will work for that. I watched another video and she used 15 loops to make a lap blanket. I've also read where someone used 18 loops so IDK but I will probably do 18. We'll see! I'd love to see yours or know how many loops you used. My first one is a beautiful blue and the second one is yellowish gold which my house is decorated kind of beachy themed! LOL LMK how it goes! I love looking at pictures too! Can hardly wait for Monday so I can get some yarn on sale. I have 2 birthdays in March that I want to make one for each! :) Take care and Happy Saturday from Northern California! :)
Awesome video!!! I'm doing my very first blanket. Loved how you showed from start to finish. How do you know how many stitches across and how many rows for a standard blanket or baby blanket?
I start with 32 stitches across on my first row. i use 6 balls of yarn that are approx. 26yards in length. I honestly do not count past the first row. i will putting another video up about dropping a loop. Be sure to kinda tug at your blanket otherwise I’ve seen start getting tight that it starts to be round - don’t want to make a tree skirt.
Thank you for this great video! I've watched about 3 or 4 and then came upon yours today and I really liked it! Easy to follow but always learn something new! I've made 2 blankets already and used 8 skeins but I've been wanting to do smaller so your video popped up just in time! Not to mention burning the yarn at the ends instead of knots? I LOVE IT!! Great Job and I LOVE THAT YELLOW! What is your website again? I don't know that I've seen that yellow before. Actually the 3 colors together are gorgeous and fit perfectly in my home color scheme! LOL Thank you! :)
I just wanted to say thank you so much for helping me make my blankets. Your video was so helpful and easy to follow! My daughters love their blankets! The only thing I have to comment on is I didn't like burning the yarn, I may have done it wrong but it felt very hard. Is there any other way to connect the yarn?
Ty for making a video thats ez to understand and the burn🔥 tip is awesome Im going to try to make an American flag🇺🇲 my plan after watching this is alternate🟥⬜ red/white 2/3 the way then switch to✨ sparkle 🌌navy blue halfway through the row switch🪢 back to red/white till middle then back to blue ect. hopefully ending up with a🟦 blue square edge🇱🇷 i figure i could then 🪡tie tassel's into the blue & trim to look like⭐ stars if i wrap tassel correct it should be fluffy on one side 🇱🇷but still able to see a pattern on reverse 🇲🇾& because the blue is🌌 sparkly i think it will look like i was attempting to create a flag🤞🇺🇸 I'll be using the same type of fuzzy yarn as you shown It would be very helpful to know how many skans you used i was thinking 3 red 3 white 1 sp.navy blue and 1 small silver/white regular yarn for tassels and maybe tie off a border depending on how it finishes and if i need to hide any boo boo's LoL i find the bigger the mistake(s) the more tassel's are required! Giggles I'm making blanket for my best friend, 🪂Air Force 🪖 vet🎖️ returning home🎗️ for the 👏👍🏻2nd time.🥂🥹 I'm excited so any suggestions/tips would be great! Thanks! And again great job on video appreciate you just keeping it real for normal people 👍🏻
That sounds awesome! Good luck with that and if you run into questions let me know. For tassels you will want to use different yarn to get a good tassel look. Would you like a video on making a tassel?
I love this and would like to try!!! One ball of yarn is $13. For a baby blanket I was told I’d need 5-7 balls. That seems awfully expensive. Am I figuring this correctly?
Wait till they go on sale (EVERY OTHER WEEK) at Hobby Lobby for 30% off of $7.99. So I figure it's about $5 a skein. Not so bad since I started my blankets off with 8 skeins. I'm going to drop down to 6. Their yarn is 28 yards for that price also. $7.99 is their regular price at Hobby Lobby! Good Luck & have FUN! :0
If making a blanket using the 32 loops as you did & using ONE color, about how many balls of yarn would I need? I’m just trying to get an idea of how much to purchase. Thank You so much
Everybody’s blanket can be different by the size of loops. The bigger the loops the bigger the blanket but also the “holey” it is- the smaller the loops the smaller the blanket. I use 8 balls mine is 30 yard in each ball. Find a happy medium loop and my guesstimate would be 12
What kind of chunky yarn are you using? And how many skeins did it take you for that blanket? I’m unable to get out to the local craft store so I have to rely on online shopping and it’s sometimes difficult to gauge size by pictures.
Most are 100% polyester & i've heard everyone say they wash them in the washer...I'd probably do delicate and not a HOT dry. However, a double size is big! You may want to take it to the laundromat & use one of those HUGE machines. Safer that way! Good Luck & keep us posted! :)
Yes! Just tie a knot when adding a new skein & pull as tight as you can. I have YET to break it like she did by pulling it but then I clip off the excess from the knot on both sides as close as I can and pull any loose freys, then keep going. However, for me, I am going to start burning & melting mine together because it will be a cleaner look or I may not be able to tell. Who knows but it's easier to me! HAVE FUN! :)
What happened to the pink ivory & grey how to make a blanket with 3 colors video! I watched it yesterday thought I saved but now its blue & yellow blanket and doesn't have the info tips I need & you are the only person who does it without cutting keep yarn on sides I need to know which goes under Ugh Been searching for hours 5 rows into red/white now ready to add blue cant bcuz cant find directions 😭😫⁉️🤷♀️❔😭
That’s the same video the thumbnail got mixed up when posting and didn’t get changed and decided once out there not to change it. The thumbnail is the pink but the video is done with blue and yellow same video. Sorry for the confusion
@@thehivetopeka This.. this perhaps need the backstory? My former degree program was in Hazardous Material Technology. And we were taught about materials that would react on their own and introducing a flame would further the reaction, right? Well, a couple years later, I was all into organic gardening, but there were some invasive plants that needed to GO! Being male, albeit a gay man but still male, I researched recipes for "home weed killers". The first worked decently. So, I mixed about three different home recipes TOGETHER. I figured if one was good, just mix them altogether, right? I mixed them all into an approved container with spray apparatus. And the container began heating up, MAJORLY. I was like... oh crap!...I moved it to the backyard with oven mitts. I checked on it later that night, and it was hotter than ever, and thought it best to move it to an empty field next to my house. It took two days for that concoction to stop reacting and the heat to dissipate. I stay away from lighting things on fire and chemicals these days. LOL
You mean at the end of the first chain? You leave the end loop and if you go through the first you just pull that loop out that is why you start at the second top. Then you grab the loop when you come back on the next row. I hope that helps
