I enjoy editing, so yes, I would like more such videos. Personally, I have grown to favor the texture slider over clarity; it's subtler to my eyes. Backlighting and rim lighting really bring out a lot in foliage and flowers as well. I have a recent photo of a backlit hedgehog cactus from Arizona that I'm very happy with.

Ha ha ha, got lucky, you are such a jokester. Nothing about that shot was luck. That shot was the culmination of year upon year of studying photography, thinking about photography, practicing photography, experimenting with photography, and taking photography seriously. And, it works wonderfully. Good grief your shots are always so stunning.

Steve, I really liked watching your editing. Our philosophies seem close (keep edits to a minimum to make it look like what you saw in the field). I will say I really liked the subtleness of the colors in the original. B&W very dramatic but something sublime with the color one that really caught my eye.

I loved this. Very fun to watch good editing being done. Editing is the hardest thing I’ve had to learn when it comes to photography. I one million percent understand if the answer is no, but would it be fun to share one of the worse photos in this series of photos (or any other photo), with us and seeing what our edits would be like? Like an editing challenge? Not a contest, no winners and no prizes, but just a “let’s all edit this and see what we come up with” kind of thing? (Talking about raw ofc. Not sure how you could share raws easily though.)

Enjoyed hearing your thoughts as you processed. I did think the tree canopy illumination near the end was a good touch. I would have missed that but I felt it added a lot to the image. While I liked the BW, I have to admit, the color version appealed to me more and I would have warmed the highlights ever so slightly. I often do a Lightroom snapshot of the color version than process it in BW and take a snapshot of it as well and go back and forth for a few days before settling on my final version. I find my opinion sometimes changes after some time away. Enjoyed this type of video Steve. Well done.

Hey Steve. I have been following you for a long time and I love your approach and technique for Wildlife Photography. I must say that I love the formate you have used here to tell the story of how you got the image and how you processed it. I would love to see more of this type of style from you. I follow a fair few Wildlife Photographers, but you are the first I have seen to do this process. I too thought Black and White would really lend itself to this image, as I feel it really emphasises the backlight on the deer and the surrounding ground around him. All the very best.
