It would be great to do a video on how to end you're milk supply when you are done pumping/breastfeeding.

I breastfeed every 1-3 hours and pump every 6 hours. I've been building up supply for going back to work.

Is it working well for you?

@@NewLittleLife I have about 10-20 ounces put away each day. So I think so? I'm new to breastfeeding and thankful he is willing and able to breastfeed during the day. At night I pump and bottle feed. I exclusively pumped every 2 hours during the day with our first so this is all new to me. I didn't pump at night with our first, but I'm trying to push on and continue pumping when he gets a bottle this time. Helps me stay on his schedule, have bottles from that time, and keep supply up. I worked at home doing a desk job with our first. I will be returning to a busy clinic this time so I won't get to pump as much. I'll try for every 3 hours.

Is there any point in starting to pump again when babe is already 15 months? I stopped at 12months due to constant thrush and mastitis but I do miss it at times but is baby too old now? I still make small amounts of milk

I’m struggling with a huge wave of anxiety induced by the vibration of my pumps. Can you recommend pumps that are more gentle or that don’t vibrate at all? A wearable or portable would be best.

Which pump are you currently using?

@@NewLittleLife I’m using the spectra S1 and the willow go as my main pumps, but by night -time I switch to the medela hand pump because it’s the only one that empties me and has no annoying vibration, so no extra anxiety.

I love the MomCozy M5. It has a stimulation mode, a combo stimulation/expression mode, and an expression mode. This is my third child. Pumping was awful for me first few kids.. but this time with the M5 and correct size and better understanding has helped. I also use the Haakaa on the opposite boob while he breastfeeds. The haakaa let down is building a freezer storage for me in addition to M5 MomCozy pump.

One thing I wish I did was learn how to use a breast pump before I gave birth. I went back to work at 6 weeks post partum and while in the hospital, I was only helped with how to breastfeed. At the pediatrician, the IBCLC helped with the latch because I was so sore and it was all I could think of during the visits. I waited until I was 2 weeks post partum to start building a freezer stash (which I have learned was “too early”) while nursing exclusively. My first SEVERAL sessions were in stimulation mode because I had no idea how to use the pump. I’m hitting my 1 year mark and will go as long as I can but it has been an experience that I will cherish.

I would add focus on your physical health too. You may think you need this or that to boost your milk supply but if your body is not healthy is going to be hard to produce milk. Sometimes you need to balance your vitamins and diet and that will help more than the viral magical pill on social media.

A tip I got from the sales lady when i bought my pump was to rinse my pump parts and store them in the fridge between sessions then wash and sterilise them at night - I'm not even back to work yet but this has really helped me hugely
@NewLittleLife

With the fridge hack, we usually don’t rinse them. The idea being you don’t want to introduce any outside bacteria from the water, just leave the breastmilk on. Here is some additional info for you: www.genuinelactation.com/blog-for-breastfeeding-families/the-refrigerator-flange-hack

Allison !!! I'm so confused. I sized for a 19 flange, but I get way more output when I use a super big size like 28 🤦🏾‍♀️ why is that?
@NewLittleLife
@NewLittleLife 4 месяца назад
Good question! It can take a little time to adjust to a new size. Also, if it’s possibly not quite right still it can create difficult output. Pumping with a huge size like 28 isn’t great for your tissue long term and isn’t like to empty fully long term either. Keep experimenting and be patient when adjusting sizing. Are you working with a professional to get it figured out?

@@NewLittleLife thanks for responding. Not yet I'm waiting for an appointment to open up. Toy channel is so amazing. I don't think about a lot of the topics you cover! Thank you!
