Hi Jack! Thanks for the question. Do I recommend it? Yes I do. Do I love it? I don’t know that I love it, but I do really like it. I have been using it ever since the unboxing and have no real issues to report. The only trouble I’ve had involves waking my monitor from sleep with a single keystroke and getting video from my Mac’s display immediately after putting the Mac to sleep and disconnecting it from the dock. I can’t blame the dock, as I haven’t troubleshot the issue and isolated it’s cause. So, until then, the jury is out. Other than that, my experience has been great. I have a quick question...my new Macbook Pro is not recognizing the LG screen I have connected to the docking station as an extended display. How did you connect yours?
Hi Christiane, My display is connected to my dock via DisplayPort. I almost always mirror my desktop, so I can't speak to issues that may occur when extending the desktop. I hope you manage to resolve your issue. Thanks for watching! Best, Aaron
Aaron, Thank you so much for responding! Yes, my problem is resolved. Finally! Bit not without trying multiple solutions.... I first tried connecting my docking station to the display using the Startech cord provided (USB-C to Displayport) which did not work. I next tried connecting my docking station to the display using the LG cord provided (DisplayPort to DisplayPort); that did not work either. I was not able to use the HDMI cable that the display came with because neither the docking station nor the Macbook have an HDMI port. I then purchased an adapter (USB-C to HDMI) and used the HDMI cable the display came with to connect the docking station to the screen. That finally worked. I am still wondering whether I have a faulty docking station? Whatever I plugged into the DisplayPort ended up not working. I am also wondering what you think about the fact that the new Macbook Pro comes with FOUR thunderbolt ports. Why not leave one ports for HDMI and one port for regular USB to make connecting your phone and display options when traveling easier? In any case, thank you for your videos and thank you for writing back! I love my new set up and I used your tech savvy videos to educate myself abut the equipment before purchasing. Christiane
