She's not so bad, I think that maybe she lets things play on her mind, when she makes a mistake, it then breaks her concentration, and leads to more silly mistakes, mistakes that she'd not normally make. But every mistake is a chance to learn, in time she can build confidence from those experiences .🙏

Dear Ms Aman, I passed my driving test today in the first attempt with only two minors, and I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for creating such informative videos that certainly helped me to pass. I'm struggling at about 30-35 hours now, manual, had three different instructors (had bad experiences with two) until finally settling with one I'm comfortable with. He's the world driving guy (RU-vid) who is very good, encouraging and patient. First guy was encouraging but didn't let me drive myself enough and talked far too much and second guy let me drive but poor instruction and lack of structure whilst spending a fair amount of time on his phone texting! In any case I'm still not at the level I should be at this point and I can't help feel embarrassed about it. I am very hard on myself and as an older learner (late 30s), I don't know if this has any bearing on my learning. I tend to get annoyed if I make a mistake or two and then it snowballs into a multitude of errors, some serious. Maybe it is because I had the bad experiences with the other instructors. I don't think I could even do a mock test as there'll be too many faults. Even so I'm still just under the average anyway (47 hours plus 20 hours private practice).
@tarajane9526

Hey your story sounds near enough the same as mine. I’ve had three instructors that taught me bad practice & habits, I’m also your sort of age. I think our age is we’re aware of how dangerous some people drive & we just want to be safe & perfect. It’s just finding that instructor who tells it like it is, prompts you when doing wrong so you’ll get out of them bad habits & actually gives you feedback at the end of a lesson. I’m with my fourth instructor I’ve only done one lesson but it did feel like a lesson he did give me feedback & write notes on what I need to work on. I’ve got a good feeling about this instructor he also told me he thinks I’ll need 20 hours more tuition to get me test ready. It’s hard to find the right instructor bc you believe in what they say after all they are the instructor, but after 10 hours of doing the same stuff & no feedback etc or your not feeling confident, then you know you’ve been duped for money. Good luck in moving forward, believe in yourself & don’t he scared to ask for what you need out of a lesson. You’ll get there with the right instructor.
@juliayang3879
@juliayang3879 Год назад
If you had over 30 hours of lessons, you would know yourself what skills and areas you need to improve, don't just rely on your instructors as you knew not all are good, be proactive and take in charge of your learning. I set my own goal before my lesson and focus on it, surely i speak to my instructor about it before driving. Reason being, i relied on my instructor until 20 hours of lesson then i realised that i got stuck as not improving as much as i wished for and still felt fear of driving on busy roads which means 'not confident'. Also i noticed my instructor picks my faults up but he didn't correct my faults, so i'm doing wrong practice continously and not improving. So i started watching educational driving videos on RU-vid to help myself. When my instructor started to criticise ' no progress' about my skills and i gave him a feedback by saying that not teaching me properly with examples. Inicially, he denied but he is making effort now. Otherwise i would have changed to other instructor as i'm preparing for a test. It's a team work as both (pupil/instructor) have to make effort, not only pupil or instructor. Also if you can, it's better to have private lessons with your family or friends along with your professional lessons, it will help. Moreover, be mindful that not all instructors are ADI, most of them are trainees under supervision of a ADI ( they are still leaning to teach) or something else..Good luck!
@tarajane9526
@tarajane9526 Год назад
@@juliayang3879 I have to say I don’t agree, a instructor is a instructor for a reason, a pupil believes everything they are being taught & wouldn’t question it bc they don’t know any different. For instance one of my instructors said she would be my eyes & ears & for me to just concentrate on the clutch & driving. So that I realised from another instructor is bad practice as it’s not making you look when your supposed to, there is a lot of bad habits I’ve picked up from bad instructors. The one I have now does seem good he prompts me when I should be signalling & looking in my mirrors, he also writes notes on what I need to work on. Tbh the bad instructors I’ve had has made me a more nervous driver then I would of been and I’ve completely wasted a lot of money through believing in them. I feel sorry for pupils because with any instructors your going to believe what they are teaching you is correct as you don’t know any different.

@Skupsiee
@Skupsiee Год назад
@@baharfacts222 hiya, go to the official government website and fill in your details and your preferred test centre. It may not display any dates or times if all of them are taken. Make sure to check surrounding test centres if you can’t find one at your local one as you can always book one there and then try to find a cancellation test at your local test centre (this is what I did). As far as I’m aware, at least in my area, it is next to impossible to get a test, with the next available tests being April next year! I managed to get a cancellation test which was for 2 months earlier than my original test, it was also at a different test centre than the one I originally booked which was for early November. All I could suggest is to check every Monday as soon as the website is opened to allow bookings (I believe this is around 6am). They add a new week every Monday so just keep a look out. If your theory should expire before you manage to get a test, you’ll have to retake it unfortunately. Try downloading an app that will allow you to view all cancellations at surrounding test centres. These tests will be snapped up really quickly so be on the look out and as soon as you see a date you can do, go for it. There will be a fight to see who will get that date. These apps will cost you some money but if you only have a couple months left on your theory, this is the path you should be taking in order to avoid retaking your theory. The app I used was called Testi, the app itself is free, however you can pay £11.99 and it will allow you to access all the features which includes an additional 5 test centres which will help massively in getting a test. It helped me get a cancellation for this month. There are many others on App Store/ Google play however, this is the app I found the most reliable and accurate, many other people that I know also used it to get a cancellation test. Good luck :))

My car has an e-brake and "hold asisst" and it's definitely a different beast to manual handbrakes. It's very unforgiving to hesitant clutch control as it releases slightly before the car is actually generating enough power to move off and can be accidentally released if you're stopped with the clutch pedal pressed and your other foot on the accelerator.

Well, people complain that the standard of driving has fallen, but from that, I think it seems pretty tough to pass the test. That van did drive straight through the mini roundabout, and why were they shooting through with no evasive action when there was clearly a learner about? I assume they would have been marked with a dangerous fault too. Many of these mistakes are daily occurrences for many licence holders, I have to say maybe me too. Perhaps we should all do 10 year refreshers.

The fact that not doing something can be a fault or not depending on the situation is weird. Not checking your mirrors is not a fault if there's no one behind you, but it would be if there is someone? That is.. dumb. The whole point is checking whether the driver can.. well.. drive. If they don't check the mirrors, that should be a fault, doesn't matter the situation 'cause later on they could be not checking when there _is_ someone behind them. It's about behaviour and habit, not situational.
@keith6400
@keith6400 Год назад
The thing about checking mirrors is the we are taught the MSM protocol when approaching a turn or change of lane etc. however drivers can repeatedly check mirrors and know no vehicle is behind if they check mirrors frequently enough. The examiner cannot really know when you last checked the mirrors unles they stare at you 100% of the time. So they might spot a lack of mirror check but had you checked them a little earlier. The fact that you pull out in front of someone is proof you did not check them at a crucial time. Examiners are trained to tell you to turn based on your speed and distance from a junction. At this time examiner will be looking at you to see if you check mirrors as this is generally the relevant time based on speed and distance. I suggest candidates do a mirror check every time the examiner speaks.

Whoops! That went a bit wrong Emily, But it's only your first mock it'll get easier and there's plenty of time to tidy things up for your actual test.

17:00 with the two right turns, I used to live near a junction like that. The left hand lane on approach was marked as a bus lane so nobody ever used it to stay in the left lane, i.e. everyone went round in the right and forced their way across. It was a one-way system so there was no oncoming traffic, but get stuck in the wrong lane and you're committed to going another mile in the wrong direction before you can turn back. And to be totally honest I didn't trust that white van to turn left. He might not have done and because he's in a white van, he's up there with minicabs and the police on just doing what the f--k he likes.

15:30 is really confusing. She was driving so well, looking in the direction of the van, did she just have a brain fart or was she hyper focusing on something we couldn't see?

think its a bit early for her to do her mocks, i only have 3 lessons with an instructor and about 10 with my dad and i wouldn’t have made these mistakes, hopefully she learns as she seems very nice and seems like she really wants to pass!

I think she could definitely make it. A little less feeling pressured into making poor judgment will remedy quite a lot of these faults.

Wow, so now learner drivers are learning how to drive.........in a Mercedes?? A far cry from back in the 90's, when I learnt to drive in first a Vauxhall Corsa mk1, then (with a different instructor) a VW Polo mk3(?). I notice the learner also is using Sat Nav??? Er, what's the point of this. You're driving where the Instructor tells you to go ...so you don't need a SatNav! - plus it's distracting and even more confusing for the learner because they should be focussing entirely on the road ahead of them. And also the car will have duel pedals (or they did back in the day)....so if a learner doesn't react quickly enough and there's teal risk of a bump or worse, the UK Instructor can slam on the break pedal at thei last minute. I think (even in 2022) learner drivers should not have SatNav in a car they're driving, because as I've said already- it's more confusing for them and therefore a distraction they don't need. Plus it's actually more dangerous too - as it can be too much to take in die learners. They should also all learn in a non-electric manual car. This will give them better driving skills and will teach them how to change gear and when to, because they will hear the different sounds and what these mean and so 'know' when to change gear. This is something you just don't get with an (automatic) electric car. You do with a petrol automatic, but the process of changing gear manually and going up through the gears and back down again are what many new young drivers now don't get to experience. Driving a manual enables you to drive a manual AND an electric car on the same type of licence. If you just learn to drive in an electric car, then you will not be able to drive a manual....as you will require a separate licence to do so. This may seem strange but it's not when you think about it. By learning in a manual it makes you a better driver overall because you have a greater "road-sense' and a manual keeps you more alert and focused. It's too easy to semi switch off when driving an automatic, because the car does alot of the work for you. Lastly when reversing, all new drivers should be made to do it the old fashioned way - by looking behind your shoulder and using your own judgement as to how close you are to the vehicle behind you. Teaching them to only use a SatNav which guides the car for you means the new driver has little or no concept of space or the skill required manually to do this manoeuvre.

@skye-louisescott2754 Год назад
You have 0 clue what you are talking about. Firstly that is a manual car which is no different to any other manual car and also on the test a sat nav is used the majority of the time so you can’t moan about a sat nav even though examiners use them!
