Starter Fail on my Minneapolis Moline G950 Heritage

On your starter issue, I bet the contact points under the black cover on the end are corroded. I've taken them off many times and cleaned them to make the starter work. Keep up the good work.

It's always something, isn't it? When you have so many tractors, there's always something to fix, even on the "running ones". It never ends.

In 1980 I bought 15 acres and I needed a tractor. I was shopping far and wide for a tractor a poor boy could afford. I didn't look on the internet but I looked everywhere within 150 miles and all I could afford was a 1959 Case 830 diesel. They were asking $1700 for it but it needed a starter. So I started shopping for a starter the cheapest one I could find was a rebuilt one for $1700. I passed on the Case. I finally found a worn out MM M602 that I could afford and it worked out well.

That Ross is really a great guy, I really like his channel and his humor. Of all the things that would go wrong on our MM's the starter wasn't one of them.... Yet. That tractor would really be great at the show. Most of your tractors would I like the work clothes they wear

hey dan we had a white 2-105 on the farm it had the 3speed shift we left it at the end of the drive way in the winter to pullstart we had to leave it in direct drive now i dont remember if you had to leave it in direct drive before shutting it down before it would work or not

Yes the starter is one of the few things that can fail. If it not the solenoid the drive goes thx Dan nice to see someone restore Moline. 😅 lots of farmall john deere oliver but very few do Moline Case or some of the others hx agai n Dan

Not trivia? ..not a riddle.. ? …here goes- …how does American film noir relate to the old tractors you love that were built in Minnesota and Wisconsin….and throw in an actor who was definitely not your everyday actor?… “ you might as well give up suckers and hand over that dough “…I was recently enjoying some leisure time with an old film from the 1950’s starring the actor that I think typified the genre more than any other …. James Cagney(for my money nobody played the part of the American gangster in film better …he took the bad guy role in crime dramas to another dimension) ….so I notice at the beginning of “Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye “ Cagney and his cell mate cohort putting the kibosh on a guard that was Lucy’s and Desi’s old landlord Fred Mertz …while attempting their escape from a prison work yard with something of special interest in the scenes background …a nice and new pretty little ole Minneapolis-Moline tractor and also an Allis-Chalmers W D too…so they are forever linked…or at least until some scene cutting editor comes along….so if interested …check it out …I recommend !

Starter issues? Well some youtubers are better known for these than others. LOL not hinting at you ;) The G950 sounds good when she is running. Getting good starters seems to be a problem these days. Are there many Amish in your area?
