We kick start our crazy 700cc 2 Stroke Dirt Bike into life for the very first time!
Our dream to create the worlds fastest two stroke motocross machine has very nearly been realised. Episode 6 of Project 700 goes behind the scenes of the Megalodon's final build, showing the mechanical headaches we had to overcome in the workshop and we finally attempt to get the beast started. This is how you start a 700cc Monster!

Haha thanks, Yep its a decompressor. I wouldn't want to start it without. To be fair it was quite easy to start once we got the knack

The exhaust note and the way it revs sounds kinda like my 700 seadoo. Only the seadoo twin pops twice for every one megapop.

Had a 05 fe550 brand new in the box. Best dirt bike I have ever had, period!!! It ate everything for breakfast and I NEVER had a drama with it. Soooo regret selling it, but parts are so had to get now.

I just roll start my 81 465 (3rd oversize) Yamy It and I sure know that feeling. The fastest and best powerband came from my yz 250 (last oversize) and even in top gear it wanted to throw me off the back. A D frame with an f motor. Never flipped it but witnessed a couple of people that went gun ho on it and it didn't hesitate to wipe the smile off of their face when they managed to pick themselves up from the dirt they had bitten. Hey man it reminds me of starting my dads 1980 Yamaha MX400 I couldn’t ride it until I could start it. I learned you have to get the piston to the top of the chamber before you kick it. Otherwise it’ll throw you. I was 11 years old. Circa 1981

The pipe fitment issues really hit me close to home. I put a ton of effort into my rebuild of a Kawasaki triple street bike. The crowning jewel was the set of polished stainless expansion chambers. Once everything was completed and we started putting the pipes on, it quickly became evident that they didn't fit AT ALL. The maker of the pipes was glad to correct them for free, but shipping back to England from Oregon was going to be $900 for a 2-month boat ride. I was so devastated, I went and bought the biggest milkshake I could find and then went to bed at 5pm. Eventually found a local guy to hack and weld the pipes to fit properly. It was an ugly job but fortunately mostly out of sight.

Sweet build love the beginning with them trying to get it started. I owed a 1989 cr500 that sent people to the emergency room for just trying to started without the proper footwear. I saw it rip.a chippawea super logger wookboot right up the side threw the soul and everything and my buddy still needed like 50 something stitches. So many people would ask if they could ride it and my answer was well of you can get it started I will let you ride it most people couldn't get it running and then they would ask me to start it for them and I'd say nope. What makes you think im going to be able to handle a bike you cant even kick over
