It may take a while to get started, but once established and populated, it's a monthly miracle. 9 months to get my 140lt cft running smoothly (240lt wheelie bin). 2 premature harvests went back in the top end. You have a great small CFT going here. You can probably have around 50 000 (can maybe go to 100 000) worms in there to get it going good for a monthly harvest they must consume the 2-3 inches of bedding and food you add to the bin weekly or bi-weekly. Depending on how much they eat.
Thank you, I’m hoping to get a first harvest mid summer but I’m thinking maybe it needed more worms to start up there’s still unhatched cocoons in there and a lot of the worms were quite young but I’m happy to just have it well on it’s way
@@SmallholdingUK yes a start is a start and those in there will be breeding like crazy to get the population up to where they want it. They will stop breeding if they reached the saturation point of the bin?
