My Dear Step Mom talked about when her Dad bought a new Rumbly Oil Pull Tractor. The very first farmer in a huge farming area to buy one. It came on the train to a small town just across the Canada/USA border called Emerson, MB.. From there they had to drive it home 60 kms! The Rumbly’s did not have a very fast road gear at all, it must of taken a very long time to drive it home! It came new with a drum of Kerosine and a bag of spark plugs! True story!! LOL!!
Urs They have two forwards gears, one work and the other road speed which is still very slow! Plus one reverse gear. I have driven our local museum’s Rumbly in there parades, I love the Rumbly tractors!! If I was healthy I would take over looking after the Rumbly, they really wanted me too but my health is no where close to that. The clutch needs replacing on the pulley, this way they can not run anything using the belt. It pops out of 1st gear so that needs looking after and lots of other small things.

Would of loved to be there but was not able to!
Urs Yes we got a blast of that wet snow too! We got 3’, yes thats 3 feet!! Never seen anything like it in my life! It was super wet before the snow it’s going to take a lot of drying as there are still lots of crops out there! I sure feel for the farmers!! Lots of people with out hydro still! We were very lucky here, one hour was it. I hope to one day visit the Steinback museum as well. I hear good things about it.
The box up front has radiators on three sides of it and the engine exhaust is blown into the middle of this empty box and there it makes a 90 degree turn straight up. The thought was to blow the exhaust air upward and it would cause the cool air to be pulled through these radiators and end up cooling the engine. Anti-freeze was not used in those days and they used oil instead and that's were is got it's name from "Oil Pull". I hope I explained it enough so it makes sense.

camerl2009 yes these were designed to burn kerosene the fuel line for kerosene was wrapped around the exuast several times to preheat the kerosene however it is not hit miss it is throttle governed, a friend of mine owns this particular E its a 1916
Cody Isaak Yes, throttle governed. The engine just wasn't igniting reliably because it was cold, it smooths out some and starts to fire reliably right before the video cuts off.
Now we are too lazy to hold the steering wheel of a new car while it's going down the road, and cry when CHECK ENGINE LIGHT comes on, or a dead spot in cellular service for our phones.....GIVE ME BACK THOSE GOOD OLD KEROSENE AND STEAM ENGINE DAYS.....PLEASE❤
TexasRailfan21 Yes they run on kerosene and other fuels as well. Most people now a days run them on gasoline. As least the ones I have started and drove. It’s a very neat experience for sure! TexasRailfan21 Personally I love the Rumbly Oil Pull better, but then you would really like my Friend. He runs the local Case Steam Engine and has his licence and takes the steamer our local parades and even at our yearly festival here in the City he brings his steamer to cook pills and pills of corn on the cob! There is no way they would be able to cook that amount of corn on the cob so fast as with the help from the steamer! It works great!
Yes it is unsafe but that’s how those old bigger Rumbly’s were started back in the day! My Grandpa bought a brand new Rumbly and they had to drive it home, it took over a week as they move very slow. It came with a 45 gallon drum of Kerosine and a bag of spark plugs.
I realize that this is all new to me and that i don't know anything about these great antique tractors. But that doesn't exactly look like a good safe way to start it. Especially the guy sticking his feet into it! Really?
Wayne Metevia I have started a Rumble as well and it was a much smaller one but stun the flywheel over by hand. Growing up on the farmer we had a A JD and you spun the flywheel over by hand as well to start it!
its basically got a big hit and miss engine it likely starts on gas until it warms up then switches to kerosene but that said if it can burn kerosene(it needs to be hot to mystify it) it will burn just about anything
