I came to the comments section to say something similar. Even if there weren't preventative measures to killing birds, the amount of birds that die from wind turbines is miniscule compared to the amount that die in, for example, oil spills, so I do have a little bit of an issue with the way wind turbines are talked about in this way. Obviously the video was talking about it in comparison to solar panels, but in real life I've seen people use the same point to argue against green energy

@@PawsBuild Just to add weight to the comments above, while turbines do kill birds, it's largely negative publicity misinformation. Domesticated cats kill more birds by several orders of magnitude. An estimated 214,000 yearly for wind turbines vs. 2.4 *billion* from domesticated cats according to the US fish and wildlife service. Even more birds are killed by collision with buldings (glass) which are estimated to kill around 599 million birds every year. Data is from 2017 and, of course, just from North America. I don't think YT will like me to provide a link, but if you want to look at the same thing I am referencing search for "US Fish and Wildlife Threats to Birds" or "Bird deaths per cause" and you should get it to come up in the search.

And when we talk about solar energy, we often don't talk about the materials needed to build the solar cells, which come from destructive strip mining and often slave labor. So overall wind energy has a lot of positives.

Hey just to say my dad works as a head of a solar and wind company and the whole “birds get killed by wind turbines” is true but not nearly to the extent that people think it is. It’s mostly misinformation that people believe on social media but it’s not really true. And ultimately wind and solar is much better for the environment than fossil fuels.

A couple of notes on franchise mode, you cannot edit the entrance in franchise mode (due to a bug a while back that allowed people to farm money, so they removed the ability too). Also, any conservation credits gathered in franchise mode carry across to ALL future franchise zoo's you make, the same with your animal storage, this allows you to make breeding zoo's to gather animals and conservation credits for your main zoo. It is quite fun trying to get hold of certain animals, as sometimes you have to wait a long time to get certain animals due to availability and rarity.

In construction wind turbines are often not the first choice because they do have quite an impact on local bird and bat populations (anything that flies really haha) but yes they’re better than a lot of alternatives - I think here in our tropical forest eco-zoo we’d probably end up killing more species than we’d save so definitely wanted to use solar panels 😂
