I'm not happy with my Jackery solar panels as they are not waterproof which for there price they should be. So days like today although it's raining my roof panel is still charging well but can't use the Jackery panel to charge my Jackery and I can't leave it out and go out if there is a chance of rain. also brought the Jackery 240 and 100watt panel together but wasn't told the max input on the 240 is 63 watts so the cheaper 60watt panel would have done the job just as well

yawwwwwnnnnnnn was decent this chanel at first now its just boring. van build that takes over a year do owt for views .your subs will get lower not higher and your videos will get less and less views take a leaf out of outdoor gear review and steve wallis

Thing is Will, the manhole / access points should be on the top of the tank.. Also you need some rubber / neoprene between the tank and the bracket and elsewhere if there touching anything… 👍🇬🇧

To me it doesn’t make any sense for them to go on the top. Then you’ve got to take the whole tank down, disconnect all the pipe work just to clean the bloody thing. I probably won’t ever clean them anyway so was a stupid decision from me to install the man holes anyway 😂😂

@@WillsWhereabouts If they still leaking, stick a very small bead of silicone around the 'plug' and then when it comes to cleaning day, just use a blade to slice the silicone and unscrew the plug. Re-silicone when you are done. Ideally get food safe silicone on the fresh water tank.

what you call a overflow pipe is surely a tank breather pipe and should be connected to the tank to let the air out as it fills'

I suspect the man hole covers should go on top of the tank and you'd drop the tank out to clean it.

Have you thinked about days, named Winter? If you install the Watertank under the car, you have to isolate the Tank and add a Tankheating. And this 2 times white and grey water

Great vid, one important tip, where you have exposed plastic pipes under the van, cover them with lagging using cable ties, otherwise they will puncture from stones and debris that flicks up when driving,

My wife is forever moaning about tools. "You have to much tools" "There's no such bloody thing as to many tools". Love the build man. It's getting on like. Glad to see another video. Nothings ever plain sailing but when you have a mate like Neil, there's a way to fix it. I've learned not to ask Google. Ask mates like that.

Yes, I would have too, the edges of those straps can cut into the plastic as the tank vibrates and empties and fills. A strip of inner tube rubber would work.

If you can or think you need to, turn the tanks over so the man holes are on top. But guess you have managed to seal them so they don't leak. Travel vibrations could cause them to leak again. Next project>think about all aspects before starting so as not to have to do it right the next time. Great video and thanks for sharing. Have a great day.

The tanks are shaped on top to fit round the box steel on the underside of the van so that isn’t possible.

Should have PTFE taped the threads on your manholes, then the water cant pass the threads so you dont need to rely on the O ring

Surely that’s the breather pipe, which will in turn allow water to escape once full - needs connecting to the tank so the air can escape when filling it?

Great video but who puts man holes at the bottom of a tank. There designed for the top. Then you drop the tank for access and cleaning purposes. Looking forward to the next part. Keep it going.

Just been watching your India travel uploads from 4 years ago.....I did alot of the same travel twenty years ago ...made me very envious re- living my own memories watching those places....treks, Nepal, Etc etc...when the kids are grown, I'm hoping I can start where I left off. Some inspection hatches are designed to fit on the top of the tank only. Maybe, you got one of those?

Surely you should have insulated the tanks prior to fitting ? have you checked the cap breather spigot is drilled out, mine isn't TBH, you really need the breather on the tank or else your tank will overpressure every time you fill it (that's probably why your inspection holes failed (they should be on the top as well)

Ok so lesson learnt maybe man holes are meant to go on the top of the tanks 😂😂. Buuutttt the reason I decided to put them on the bottom was because I thought it would be a right pain in the arse to drop both tanks, disconnect all the pipe work just to clean them out. Anyway if you read this and watch the video for advice and info, put the man holes on the top, thankfully enough sika flex has done the job 😂

Your "overflow" is not an overflow at all... its to release the pressure of the tank when the temperatures changes. Normally there should not be any water comming out and it should not be nesseccary to pipe it out the bottom of the van. Could have saved a hole in your van here... Just having a pipe going out of the insulaton should have been sufficient as at most there should be vapor comming out of it. What you did however will not distorub its purpose. Wouldn't hurt to have dampening between the tanks and the brackets and using locknuts or duble nuts to make sure they stay where they are when going donw the road. I think you ve seen it by now, but the maintenance holes are supposed to be on top of the tank and you are soppsed to release them for cleaning.... Like your kitchen tho :D

Nah, check out any RV and you’ll see that they have an overflow just like this one. It makes sure that the water goes out when you fill it up to much.

I wonder if ptfe would have worked on the threads for the manholes. Could prob do without them and clean them from time to time with same stuff that wine brewers use to clean their stuff.

I would recommend to add some insulation for the tanks and hoses. And maybe some sort of electric heating. Next time in austria winter will be difficult without.

I would have the kitchen at the back of the seats. And incorporate the storage under the seats. Is 400 units that dog leg u see the seat. To house extra food.water etc. Pull out and drop over head storage on the driver's cab.

How is the drain going to work if the piping is ducted to the frame (going UP).... Water isn't going upwards usually.. so the release valve and pipes should be near the lowest point.

Will Mate, I couldn't handle doing things twice! My mind would be twisted sideways and I know I would be beyond frustrated. Those exterior tanks would not work here in Canada, guarantee to freeze for sure. I also think the holes are meant to be on top and you would drop the tanks for any service requirements. There shouldn't be any cleaning needed being a sealed unit unless you allow gunk in the filler inlet. Carry on Mate, I hope this layout works for you!

I’d have wrapped the tanks in some sort of insulation, rubber between brackets and manholes should be on top, no need for them anyway.

Watching this while making me rage with anger, gave me some good tips. 1 plan your gd build. 2 make a layput drawing of your van build. 3 let the pros cut the holes and also insolation last. Oh and put a small amount of water in each tank for leak checks.

Would it not have been better putting the fresh water tank to the passenger side for the pipes to be in the correct position Then the waste closer to the kitchen on the driver side Would be a lot neater for the pipes and then they wouldn’t be crisscrossing over eachother

Second that about the covers being on top, rubber between the chassis, brackets and tanks ( they WILL) rub through and using pace tape on threads. As an engineer vibration is your enemy, things that rub will wear through, albeit slowly, but most importantly when you DON’T shan’t it to happen.

Whilst you're at it, you should consider putting a shower in and the kitchen by the sliding door so the cooking smells and smoke and escape easier

Overflow pipe should be a 6 o clock as you look at it. Therefore, if you over fill out spill water in the pipe, it drains away. Have a look at your diesel cap, it'll have a small hole too. Hope that makes sense
