That truck is amazing, starts likes nothing I've ever seen and runs like a beast. Joe's got some fantastic stuff and he's an amazing person.

That is crazy 4 years ago I made some 2-cycle gas with 89 octane and the oil actually preserved it. The day that I bought the gas and made it up I put some in a chainsaw that sat for those four years and it still started and cut a tree down. Oh and I forgot to mention the chainsaw turns 45 this year.

I remember seeing this truck in bakersfeild for the trucking for kids truck show and drags back in like 2006 or 2007 and it ran mid to high 13s all day and it was fucking LOUD

Nice to know Joe is still at it. Truck was Maroon the last time I saw it run at Woodburn drag track. Story I heard is that motor came out of a yarder somewhere.

There's a guy in Spruce Pine Alabama that has a KW with that engine with a Twin Stick big house and chrome everywhere! He shows it and hauls lumber when the Sun is shining! Big power, big noise and a lot of smoke!!!💥💥🇺🇸🇺🇸

Drop the rotor and the vanes into a bucket of parts cleaner or carburetor cleaner/dip, and, after a while, those vanes will be sliding back-and-forth, doing the job they were intended to do.

I'm actually almost certain that the build up in the fuel pump is not from the diesel being low quality but more than likely reaching freezing temperatures and turned it into jell only to be heated back up in the summer and back again a following winter until you have reached your current pardicament of gumming up the fuel pump and everything before and up to the diesel particulate filters. I might suggest that you try your own controlled experiment on this and add-in a anti-jelling additive in one and none in two different cans of diesel in the winter until you get this result. But I can absolutely guarantee that you're going to be getting the exact results as I previously stated. Drove OTR for many years and did diesel mechanics for many years as well. I've run across this very problem before myself. I used to troubleshoot stuff like that all the time to determine and resolve issues like that for other drivers, sharing my knowledge to help keep their trucks going rather than stuck in shop after shop losing loads, time and obviously a ton of money.

If we have a Diesel engine that is not going to be started for a while we put jet a fuel in it. Has all the sulfur you’d ever want.

That's certainly not the standard fuel pump. That a hydraulic pump in an accessory hole. That's how they pumped so much fuel for that horsepower. Wish I knew all the tricks.

i put used motor oil in my truck fuel a gallon every 3 fuel ups it runs so much better that way

To clean out the microbial / stuff that grows in deseal you need a fuel treatment they sell. It will clean up the injectors, fuel pump... yada yada. Those motors are RARE... you actually get good fuel mileage if you can find one in a Bus. I think Canada used to build a Bus with 12V71's... if you can get that vehicle with THAT motor for a decent price do it. They are legendary with the heavy hauler truckers. :-) You could score them in White Freightliner cabovers and they used to use them in the mountain country for hauling logs and steel.

It's easy to Talk about a 12v71 that produces 1800 horse, without telling Torque or RPM figures, and assuming high levels of Boost, but I'd rely on a drag racing gasoline engine if I wanted to display a real 1800 horse, at about 1/2 throttle.

I would love to see that truck going down the track again also you tuber gentry and sons would like Joe to build him a 1800hp engine he actually turned me on to this video he is an avid lover of Detroit engines and old semis he is building a fleet of cab overs

When starting a big engine like this for the first time since this has two turbo inlets you will need two one ft by 3/4" thick wood squares so if the engine runs away you can choke off its air to stop it. Have them ready and I did not see the guy standing on the wheel with them ready. He might have had but I did not see them. The amount of suck is incredible so be ready with this beautiful engine.

maybe put some used motor oil in the diesel tank maybe you don't have any slime no more
