You are demonstrating why I hate Revit very well indeed :-) Tip: I would decide on approximate floor areas and number of storeys first as they can be used to determine what is possible within client’s budget at the appropriate cost/sqm for that part of the world before ‘fannying about’ with site layout, most of which is fairly pointless without knowing more about the constraints. That is why I tend to start where you ended !
You make a valid point about considering floor areas and the number of storeys early on. However, this client only specified the number of floors, not the exact size, and they didn't provide a budget. Plus, it's not good to look solely at the math without considering the site. Understanding how a project could fit on the site is crucial to provide accurate guidance and avoid looking unprepared.
Hey Russel Qs here I think the cost per square can be about 350 to 400 dollars. And the cost should be slightly higher coz its off town, the availability of labour and materials is not sharp like in the town.
Thanks. I got the figure from a builder. 400 or 350 would be great I’m not sure the quality would be that great tho u think?. That’s interesting I thought the opposite to town because you have to get a lot more permits and permissions in town.
@ArchitectRussell I think the house will just be standard especially in the African context. The costs of approvals may be true but they are one off costs which may not have a major impact on the overall construction cost. I can mail you a cost handbook though its for the Kenyan market it may be of use to you.
Hello, Do you have an Email where I can send you one document and one question?. I am not an architect, but I have loved architecture since I was young. Thank you in advance!
