In the books, when Harry happily shares the treats with Ron on the train, it says something like "he'd never had anything to share before or indeed anyone to share it with." Neglected 11 year old Harry is so precious and it breaks my heart as an adult. Excited to be on this journey with you!
Who told you this was overrated? Whoever they were, they deeply lied to you. These films and books literally have the same size of impassioned fanbases as Star Wars, LotR, Game of Thrones, etc. Maybe even more so. You'll want to watch them all again the moment you finish the final scene of the final film. And then you may watch them over and over again for the rest of your life.
I know so many people who don't even watch it fr just have had it playing in the background before and they go " it was boring" Like if you actually watch it it wouldn't be
I'd say more than GOT's simple because the Harry Potter series got a proper ending...where as GOT the books are still not done and the show became horrendous after season 6 lol.
according to last year servey HARRY POTTER literally has 2nd largest fandom in this world after BTS{the band} idk who told her that ...clearly they have no taste😂
@@GrumpyOldGuyPlaysGames not the evil lol but your not wrong and she threw a lot of the cowardly people in ravenclaw too like Lockhart and quirrel like dude what was the point if they have intelligence they shouldn’t be cowardly lol
@Idontknow27799 this is true lol, but it's also true that it's not necessarily your own qualities but the qualities you admire that get you put into certain houses. Like Pettigrew was put into Gryffindor because he admired bravery not necessarily because he was brave. And so I think it makes sense that both Lockhart and Quirrel are Ravenclaws because they admired intelligence and knowledge. I mean, Quirrel traveled the world learning about all sorts of stuff, that's how he found old Voldy in Romania (I think lol) and Lockhart wrote loads of books (despite not having achieved those things himself) because he admired the knowledge and ability to achieve them.
It's not explained in the movies or in the books you have to go into a deeper dive on Pottermore which is now Wizarding World. But there you find out that one of Harry's great-grandfathers made a potion called Skele-Gro that regrows bones. Then his grandfather took that money and made Sleek easy hair potion which then made the richest what they are now. Which was then passed down to his father James.
@@MiyaElizabethReacts James was also a pureblood (like the malfoys) meaning he had old money the potions were what kept his family so rich he also had a job adding to the already vast wealth so Harry is very rich now
It explains in the books that because of magical reasons and such, Harry is safe at the Dursleys. If he lived anywhere else Voldemort and others could find him and attack him. But because of magic and love and family. They are all safe there. There is more to it, but that's the basics
Yeah, that isn't explained until later though. It's explained that because Harry's mom died to save him, then living with his mother's blood relative kept him safe from Voldemort
I also feel like it’s because his aunt and uncle hate magic and refuse to except it into their lives. I could be very wrong but I always got that interpretation🥲.
When she mentioned carrot cake I paused because I suddenly remembered I had some left so I went to take a slice and ate it during the rest of the reaction 😂😂😂
@@AriaIsara 😂& before I watched this reaction I was just saying to myself how much I was craving carrot cake. I gotta go find me a slice or 2 somewhere lol
At the end when dumbledore says love was how he couldn’t touch him it sounds cliche but hes being literal when u die for someone in this universe the killer can no longer kill the person who was being attacked
This always bothered me because why on earth is Harry a singularity in that case?! People have done that throughout history across the world, but are we to believe that wizards-who miraculously hasn’t taken over the world the way other humans would have-DON’T sacrifice themselves like that? EVER? That we know of? If the book gives more of an explanation let me know because I’ve forgotten a lot and probably never understood certain “explanations” when I read them lol.
@@NoelleMar i could be wrong, but i feel like harry isn’t a singularity in the sense that someone sacrificed themselves for him (and then Voldemort couldn’t touch him), but in the sense that he’s the only person known to have survived the killing curse (plus the fact that anyone Voldemort targeted up until that point always ended up dead) my guess is that people have sacrificed themselves for their loved ones before, but there are many ways to kill besides using the killing curse + harry’s survival was the cause for Voldemort disappearing, so there was no way for the ministry and whole world to not know it happened
@@NoelleMar The books never explicitly say so you have to put the pieces together yourself. Of course there would have been people who sacrificed themselves for others but the thing that makes Harry's situation unique is Voldemort gave Lily a choice. Snape begged him to spare Lily because he loved her so Voldemort did something he had never done before, he told Lily to step aside and he would spare her life. But, she refused. Most killers wouldn't have given someone the choice, they would have just killed the person or pushed them out of the way. Also, it seems like the killing curse is very rarely used in the wizarding world so there probably wasn't much precedent for a situation like that to happen.
This is only true though if the person who died protecting someone was given a choice. Voldemort told Lily to step aside and he would spare her life but she refused. It was the only time that he gave that choice to someone and it was because Snape begged him to spare Lily because he loved her.
There are no best Hogwarts houses. Every house has good trait qualities. If a student is good or bad it is because of the choices they personally made in life. Not because of the house they are in. They never explained it in any of the movies but Harry did meet several good Slytherins while also meeting several bad people from the other houses as well. So it makes no difference what house you are sorted into. It is the choices that we make in life that determines who we are. 🏰😉👍
Welcome to the incrediblely wonderful rabbit hole of a ride called the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Enjoy it well. 😊 This is the song that the Sorting Hat sings in the book version of Sorcerer's Stone/Philosopher's Stone before he sorted the first year's students into their houses; "Oh you may not think I'm pretty, But don't judge on what you see, I'll eat myself if you can find A smarter hat than me. You can keep your bowlers black, Your top hats sleek and tall, For I'm the Hogwarts Sorting Hat And I can cap them all. There's nothing hidden in your head The Sorting Hat can't see, So try me on and I will tell you Where you ought to be. You might belong in Gryffindor, Where dwell the brave at heart, Their daring, nerve, and chivalry Set Gryffindors apart; You might belong in Hufflepuff, Where they are just and loyal, Those patient Hufflepuffs are true And unafraid of toil; Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw, if you've a ready mind, Where those of wit and learning, Will always find their kind; Or perhaps in Slytherin You'll make your real friends, Those cunning folks use any means To achieve their ends. So put me on! Don't be afraid! And don't get in a flap! You're in safe hands (though I have none) For I'm a Thinking Cap!" 🧙♂️🧙♀️🪄✨⚡🖤 BTW, I was sorted into Gryffindor and my brother was sorted into Slytherin in the Pottermore (now called Wizarding World) official website. The website was created by the Sony company and the author of the Harry Potter books, JK Rowling. I had to take a fun and special personality test to find out what house I am in. Go go Gryffindor! ❤💛❤🦁🏰🪄👍
Hagrid is a half giant! His mum was a giant and his dad was a wizard. Harry has so much money mainly because his dad came from a rich, pureblood family, so there's a lot of inheritance money. Gryffindor is house of the brave and loyal, Ravenclaw is house of the intelligent and creative, Slytherin is house of the cunning and ambitious, and Hufflepuff is house of the fair and hardworking and generally accepts anyone who doesn't fit into one of the other houses. STOP NOT SNAPE IN IT GIRL TIKTOKS 💀💀 Yes! In her dying moments, Harry's mum, Lily, used very deep and ancient blood magic (that she wasn't aware she used, it was kinda instinctual or an accident) and protected Harry with her love.
They've never really explained why Hooch has yellow eyes like a hawk, but a lot of fans believe it was either a botched animagus spell or a spell she cast on herself to give herself hawk-like vision so she could efficiently ref the quidditch games.
The movies don't really discuss this at any point, so I thought I'd mention this just in case (it's not a spoiler, it's just additional detail on what the houses are). The houses all represent some kind of value or virtue. Gryffindor is for bravery/courage (symbol is a lion, not a griffin, despite the name), Ravenclaw is for intelligence (symbol is an eagle, not a raven, despite the name), Slytherin is for cunning and ambitious people (symbol is a snake), and Hufflepuff... it's hard to pin them down but they essentially stand for kindness - they value hard work, loyalty, self-sacrifice, that kind of stuff (their symbol is a honey badger - just a reminder, honey badger is closely related to wolverines, and wolverines are the most ferocious creatures in the world, pound-for-pound, so don't mistake them for "weak", honey badgers can feck you up). There's more to each house than this (and particularly how they work and who gets sorted where), but I won't mention further because getting deeper into it WILL spoil a few things (even if minor), so it's best if you just know the basics about the houses
Girl, my mom told me the same thing & that it “got too serious” as the movies went on and I didn’t finish it until years later (stopped at Goblet of Fire originally) and I LOVED it. Was lowkey kinda pissed that my mom told me it wasn’t good lol
Both movies and books are made for children that grow up into teens. The characters (main trio) is 11-12 at the start and they end being 17-18. And I love that is so entertaining.
I love how the story matures along with the characters and the intended audience of the time. It was so unique and I've never seen another story do that (only thing that comes close is My Hero Academia but not exactly)
walder frey isn't the ONLY GoT actor you'll notice there are technically like a dozen but I forget who they are heavily hidden makeup wise but The wildling girl who travels with Bran she played Tonks you don't meet her til the 5th movie & the other I recognized is mama stark played mama granger you don't see her properly til the 7th movie which is part one of the seventh book
yes!! otto hightower from hotd plays xenophilius lovegood, mance rayder plays aberforth, pycelle voices aragog, and a maester (idr his name) plays slughorn!! there's probably more i'm forgetting too
Just gained a new subscriber can’t wait to see you on the journey. Before this comes up from the other movies Harry is not rich but he is comfortable so middle class. Also in the books they explain that Ron is embarrassed how poor his family is and he saw all those things in the mirror because all his brothers (5 of them) have done everything so all his accomplishments aren’t as great and with him being the youngest brother but having the only girl right after him he really feels like he isn’t noticed as much.
My biggest piece of advice to you is to read the books. I can’t stress how important that this actually is, the movies actually relied on the audience to actually know the story first as they compressed parts and even had to leave quite vital parts out. And whole (semi pivotal) characters were never even included in the first place (Peeves anyone). If you don’t (or now can’t) do this, we’ll the next best option would be to read each book after each movie. This will be of absolutely huge benefit in regards to the 2nd and especially the 3rd books. The 3rd book needed two to three movies alone it was that big. The first movie does a pretty good job of the first book though. One thing to keep in mind is that the age level of the movies and more so the books, increases as it goes along. They age with the characters. It really gets dark and Death is theme that only gets stronger and stronger as it goes along, but however it was still very brilliantly done all the same. My only gripe is that the fight scene in the last movie was a huge let down as the book was so much better. The last movie ruined a few things, but also improved one plot point way better than the book. And that’s a theme throughout the entire series. You will be begging for help but we are getting a bit jaded, and you will actually enjoy all of the movies so much better for having followed the books along as you go, even if you read them second. The movies had to compress things, but they also heavily relied on the very fact that the audiences already knew the story by heart. And that’s my point. The movies simply can’t be enjoyed to their fullest potential if you haven’t read the books. No other movie series so heavily relies on this. I dare anybody to prove me wrong. So as soon as you can. Start reading each book before the movies. The later movies relies on facts in the book that the movies never even mention. Edit P.S. The first book is a good example of what I mean by aging. The first few chapters are really written like they are for very young children, but it soon gets older, and more enjoyable for older readers. Their is a very good reason why adults love reading these books too. Half way through the first book, is a very different experience indeed. And this experience just gets more “intense” as each book comes along. Without giving away any actual spoilers, BUT. One last thing to keep in mind. This series is particularly about redemption, and in so many subtle different ways. It’s a story arc that stretches throughout the entire series and affects various characters (not just one). And you will see it played out in some “not so obvious” ways too.
I actually think that the Harry Potter movies did an excellent job incorporating as much important information from the books as possible. I've seen so many book to movie adaptations that were absolutely awful. I agree that you get a lot more enjoyment from the movies having read the books, but I do think that you can still enjoy the movies by themselves and understand what it happening
Because I watched GoT before binging on this series, I have a cross-world theory: Arya killed Walder, took his face, went west of Westeros. What’s west of Westeros? HOGWARTS! Filtch is Arya and she’s learning how to be a witch! 😉☺️😅 #LeaveLogicAndHPLoreOutOfThis
Girl I am laughing out loud throughout this, I'm obsessed. Your editing is hilarious and smart and I'm loving your commentary. I have been obsessed with Harry Potter since I was 11, and I'm the same age as Emma Watson so I grew up with all of them. I've seen these movies countless times - but watching YOU watch them for the first time is so much fun, especially with how naturally funny you are. I can't wait to see you watch and experience the entire journey omg, you are in for a RIDE❤
There's tons of HP reactions but your stand out because of the edit, well done! You really gave it your personal touch 👏👏👏 Also kudos on being the first reactors that I've seen who predicted that they were putting all the attention on Snape to distract us from Quirell 👍
you are the best reactor ever known to me. with you i do not skip to those parts that are certain to provoke certain emotions in homo sapiens with you i'm watching every second of your recordings cause you do a great job just being you (and editing, of course).
oh my god you’re gonna love these movies, i can already tell 😂😂 about the houses, i think you’re definitely a hufflepuff!! i wouldn’t say there’s a “better” house, and this has been an argument for many years since people see slytherins as the house who produces the most dark wizards (which is true, in a way), but has also many wizards and witches who fought against the dark. I, for once, am a proud slytherin myself 💚💚 Anyways, all four houses are amazing and important on their own!! Love from Brazil 🇧🇷
Missed your reactions miya your one of the best need to do more look forward to more harry potter reactions in the coming weeks keep up the good work miya from UK ❤
I can see you being Ravenclaw or hufflepuff but Miya you’ll love Harry Potter it’s a amazing series!!❤️🔥 It’s also fun seeing what house you’re apart of what type of wand you would have it’s a great world it’s for sure up there with the GOATs of media!!Another part of the magic is the cast absolutely amazing it’s so great to see the kids grow with the movies!!❤️
Totally enjoyed your reaction. Cant wait to go on the rest of the journey with you. Im a devoted HP fan and love hearing your ideas and predictions. Hope you're enjoying it as much as we are.
With the exception of Peter Pettigrew aren't all of Voldemorts Death Eaters from Slytherin? I might be wrong but I thought only Slytherin (not all) turned out Dark Wizards/Witches
@Scorpion-Gamer82 Professor Quirell is the only confirmed Ravenclaw. However, there could be other Ravenclaw members, even other witches and wizards from other countries. Not too much of the Death Eaters were confirmed who was who.
I love this! I've never seen someone watch HP for the first time, so it's amazing seeing you gather all the info and seeing all the magic for the first time! :D
I love your reactions 😂 You are def gonna love the series. The whole magic world has so much lore and excitement and as the kids grow the movies get darker and plot-ier!
It used to be pretty common for British schools to separate students into four houses.AFAIK it was by your surname, in alphabetical order. In theory it was meant to instil some team bonding, but that'd only ever happen in the posh schools. It was simply the line you stood in, to be let back in after break.
Miya, when I was only 6 years old back in 1963, I flew alone from Denver to LAX to visit relatives, and flew home alone a few weeks later. It was a different time....
Please just remember to watch the 20th anniversary celebration… it goes deep into how it inspired an entire generation and rounds off the journey well.
I grew watching all these movies when they came out and.i still live watching them today especially during the fall szn It's just a great time and each movie gets better! Love your reaction ❤
To answer your question towards the end ("So Quirrell couldn't touch Harry because of his mother's sacrifice?"), essentially, yes. She'd sacrificed herself in all senses of the word. She'd had the choice to save herself (Voldemort was after Harry, not her, and told her to stand aside), and she didn't. Beyond that, though, she didn't try to defend herself. She literally just stood between Voldemort and her son. When reading the books originally, this always seemed like a big plothole (surely there were other people who had tried to save their loved ones and would have sacrificed themselves given the opportunity?), but it's this specific circumstance that's important. The fact that she didn't defend herself or raise her wand in any way after having been given the *choice* to live is what put the protection charm on Harry. I'm sure there were other situations where people stood between Voldemort and their loved ones, but Voldemort didn't usually give people the choice to live if they got in his way.
actually as a Slytherpuff I think Slytherin is also very neglected. Quick explanation - I have always managed to be sorted into Slytherin (since the sorting came out) but WHEN I answer honestly I am a Hufflepuff. So I am Slytherpuff. No house is bad per se - every trait can be used in a bad/evil way. But JKR needed a "bad" house, so that's Slytherin in both the books and movies
I also think that Slytherin is viewed as the "bad" house because the story is told from Harry's perspective. For one, Gryffindors and Slytherins are rivals so Harry of course views them more negatively. Secondly, his first experience with Slytherin was Draco who of course is a bully and then he views all other Slytherins through that experience
In the books they had to get through another task gaurding the stone. Snapes task. Which required them to drink the correct potion after a riddle. They left this one out of the movie. Ron had been left behind after the chess match. And it was just Harry and Hermoine. Hermoine figured out which potion could make you proceed. There was only enough for one more. So Harry took the rest and went on and Hermoine took one that let you escape backwards and went back to look after Ron and get Dumbledore. Fluffy was Hagrids contribution. The plant that nearly strangled Ron was professor Sprouts task. The flying keys was professor Flitwicks task. The chess board was professor McGonagalls task, they skipped Snapes in the movie. And the mirror was Dumbledores task.
Filtch/Frey thought he was on the “Game of Thrones” set. Telling the kids, detention in the old days had them hanging by their thumbs and he misses the screaming 😆 I’ve been on a Harry Potter Binge lately, moved to watching reactions and I’m really looking forward to seeing you react to the rest of the HP series. It’ll help get me thru work 😁 So, thank you. New Sub here
I just subscribed, I can't wait to watch the rest of your Harry Potter Journey. The series isn't for everyone but I find that most people that watch it, really enjoy the films. If you like the films, Then I welcome you with open arms to the fandom. If you don't like the films, at least you can say you gave it a shot and thank you for actually watching the films for yourself and not listening to other peoples biased opinions. Some things to keep in mind... -The first two movies are for kids and was marketed that way. Those were the only two films showed on Disney channel. - The movies get darker and darker as the characters grow. The story matures along with the characters - The movies are Gryffindor centered but the other houses are just as important. Not all slytherins are bad, Not all Gryffindors are good. Professor Quirell is a Ravenclaw and he was this movies villain. A lot of people seem to forget that. I Hope you enjoy the film as much as we enjoy your reactions.
since you’re pretty much done with the series i feel like i can say this about a little comment you wrote about dumbledore not letting snape be the dark arts teacher. voldemort wanted the position and dumbledore said no, and in retaliation voldemort cursed the position so that no one could hold it for more than a year. i assume dumbledore knew something about this and didn’t want snape to be affected by it, making him potions professor instead (something he also excelled at). and when dumbledore finally does give snape the position, its when he KNOWS he will not be in it for longer than a year no matter what (6th year)
Something that always intrigued me about this is that they made it sound like Quirrell had been teaching for multiple years Edit: I just looked it up and apparently Quirrell taught Muggle Studies prior to this and then he took a year long sabbatical where he ended up meeting Voldemort and when he got back he taught DADA for Harry's first year
Glad you're starting this series. One of my favourite series ever! Both the books and films were fantastic. Philosophers stone is one of my favourites within the series. But if I had to pick my number one... I think i would go with "Order Of The Pheonix"! Anyways, you're in for a wicked journey! Enjoy!
@MsAppassionata yeah I agree that and others like Goblet of Fire (I think) had lost the most details from book to movie. Considering they were longer. I wish every book had two movies like Deathly Hallows. I get it was a cliche and sort of cash grab move to split the last film of a series in two. But I also liked it because it meant at least one of the books gets more screen time that it likely needs😆 Here's hoping the new TV series is a good proper complete adaption. But I'm scarred they'll change things uncessarily and for the worst.
Hagrid had a habit of sitting on things. The baby was safe with him, though. He wrote to Harry's parents' friends to send photos and made him the album.
Girl tell me why I thought I was subscribed to you and turns out I wasn’t.. how embarrassing for me. thank god RU-vid had my back and recommended this to me. I AM SO EXCITED FOR THIS JOURNEY ❤
