At first, I wasn't too pleased with my gains compared to my previous performances, I was doing so poorly, I thought I needed to diversify into better assets, so I got in touch with an investment-advisor. @@ryangrassmann No Kyle wants a physical locker, because he doesn't think they can make a virtual locker that works. (Obviously their current software isn't up to the task for some of the situations he puts it in.)

@@mp3mike237 ok, sure. He thinks they can’t. But, they actually can. It’s really simple (background in electric motor control). Spin them all with full power capacity, modulated by accelerator input. One actual example would be how they demonstrated tank turn. And, yes, I agree with you- that would be “fixing” their traction control software. Much simpler, no additional weight, parts, etc. It could be implemented by OTA update. I’d even accept the mode being limited to 20mph like most of the off-road settings.

Hope the new model brings EV, now even the 4.0L is going away. EV have more torque and reliability with zero emissions. Hopefully Toy is releasing the solid state batteries with the EV FJ. 🤞

I see the announcement about Rivian using NACS (Tesla Superchargers). Wonder if Rivian Adventure Network chargers will also use NACS and allow Tesla vehicles (like Cybertruck) to charge at Rivian Adventure Network sites (like near mountains!)

Update: Hi Guy, We’re collaborating with Tesla to open charging for Rivian vehicles at more than 12,000 Tesla Superchargers across The United States and Canada. Starting as early as Spring 2024, we’ll offer an NACS adapter that allows you to charge at Tesla charging sites. In 2025, Rivian will incorporate NACS charge ports as standard in R1T and R1S and offer a corresponding CCS adapter. No matter which charging port is built into your vehicle, you’ll soon have access to over 25,000 DC fast chargers spanning Rivian Adventure Network, Tesla Superchargers and other third-party CCS networks.

I’m starting with an iKamper Mini on the OEM racks, but have a lot of use case for upgrading to the Ruff Rax if the efficiency hit isn’t too bad (or better). My wife and are planning a major R1T road trip with overlanding from FL to WA. Gulf to Pacific across the Rockies!

Im pretty sure they would rather you get the quad motor which every wheel is individually driven which negates any possibility or need for a locker. In theory the computer will identify which tire has traction and apply torque to that corner.

@@carperdiem8754 My quad motor does the same. If I could get the truck to "lock" all wheels and spin at the same speed, I could gracefully climb rocks and dig out of the sand. Even "Rally" mode with stability control set to "off" results in one or more tires not spinning when trying to dig out or trying to help a friend pull me out. It was embarrassing, not to mention unnecessary.

Dang, that's some pretty cool kit! If anyone's looking for light bars, Rigid is obviously the top end, but I've had good luck with Quadratec light bars. They're like 1/3 the price. I had one on my wheeler and my buddy had a few on his truck. Good light quality and after a few years, still had no moisture ingress. This was like 7-8 years ago, so as long as their quality is still the same it's a great option. I had the 10" dual spot/flood bar, was an amazing light for night wheeling. Easily as bright as a regular OEM LED car headlight on high. We both no longer have our vehicles, so don't know how they are at this point.

Don’t get the Skycamp 3.0. It’s a fine tent but for overlanding go for the X-Cover 2.0 Mini or the Blue dot voyager from IKamper or even better the Roofnest Condor Overland. More mounting points on the roof or the side are key.

Another thing I would want with this setup is a custom cover that snaps on or something. Why? Well, if you have some gear in there and want to keep rain off of it. But also if I'm camping and want to sleep under the bed rack and it starts raining.

It's taking longer because the Rivian R1T & R1S aren't selling. Company's aren't going to spend money on R&D if they see the vehicle isn't selling or might not even survive. Also remember that the over lander movement was basically a fad. Most people see these rigs going down the road don't say to themselves ohhh I want that, they just make fun of them.

I would say there's a huge need for rivian rock sliders, as there aren't many rivians, and id be surprised if even as much as 1 percent of owners ever took them off road.
