I don't mean to be greedy, but if Summon Sign stays around the 3 to 4 hour mark every week... I'm not going to complain. Great stuff, guys. Matty/Brad/Chris is a trio I already want to see more from.
Love it, love it, love it. Brad is getting in his flow already, asking really good questions to spur discussion. Matty is always great, but I have to admit I'm not an Xbox/Bethesda guy so I don't listen to much of his stuff. So I love hearing him talk about these things that crossover into PlayStation/Switch. I'll take what I can get! And Chris has a crazy ability to just naturally hop into a conversation and always belong. He always makes me laugh and I'll admit his views on games really make me think about them in ways I haven't before. His view of the story in GOW Ragnarok spoilercast really made me respect him, and I love the point he made about FFXIV/JRPGs feeling like you're bingeing a TV series with multiple seasons. What an astute observation. I love these guys and you're killing it, Brad! Keep it up!
Thank you Brad, seeing Matty and Chris who are my 2 favorite LSM members bounce off each other and discuss like this is amazing and your additions just fuel the fire perfectly. Summon Sign is one of my favorite podcasts already!
It’s just down to who’s played what if a lot of games have been played by the guests it’s a long show that’s the way frame trap was they never really cut the convo short for time .
you making up your snake is the whole point of mgsv for sure. kojima was leaving the IP but he left us with a mechanically modern game that’s never supposed to end. never be game over.
I think the amount of freedom it gives the player has been very unlike previous Kojima games, which is perhaps why the opinions differ so much on this game. People who find it repetetive probably expected the game to guide them more towards the diversity in playstyles that is possible. It has scripted adaptations for the AI that is supposed to discourage the player from using the same tactics all the time, but I still see a lot of people brute forcing missions and not experimenting enough with the tools the game gives you. It's good to see Chris finding a new appreciation for MGSV, but judging from the discussion, there is still so much they seem to be missing out on. I find it interesting that Brad doesn't seem to be aware how controversial MGS2 was at the time. If we had social media then, it probably would've made any MGSV controversy look like childs play. MGS3 is probably the most beloved, because it played it relatively save. Hopefully as time goes on MGSV can truly be appreciated for the masterpiece it is in my opinion (and that also applies to the story of the game, which unfortunately is still an aspect that many people are sleeping on).
I didn't understand the character creation what was happening so I made it look exactly like Snake, which kinda broke the reveal later when you see his ID/face in the mirror lol
I am totally into that theme but the issue was the cut content and missing final mission. It was apparent from playing the game something rushed at the end. I would imagine they fell out with Kojima mid production and just ended development early. Travesty as the game is nearly perfect.
The whole "You are Venom" message falls completely flat in my opinion. I have no interest in being Venom or Big Boss. I wanted to see Kojimas final chapter for the real Big Boss, instead we got a Far Cry style outpost game/base builder with some light story elements sprinkled in every 5th mission or so. Terrible.
I actually really like the format of this show. Just good vibes. People from the xbox and playstation podcasts getting together and just talking games.
completely agree with chris. give us well directed and paced games. not every game needs to be 100 hours. or give us the optional content and superbosses in the end game again where we can choose to tackle it if we truly loved the game that much and want more to do.
my top 5 most wanted games this year: ff7 rebirth, metaphor, yakuza 8,metal gear solid 3 remake AND daybreak, glad it got mentioned super pumped to do the Calvard arc
Ys is one of my all time favorite franchises. Recently, I finally broke the entry into the Trails series with Cold Steel 1 and I had such a good time with it. So good in fact that I bought the entire series on Steam during a sale. Now i'm about midway into Cold Steel 2 and looking forward to heading into the other arcs. The world building is incredible and very satisfying. Plus it's falcom so you know the music is killer. I highly recommend both franchises!
Just got to the end of the podcast, awesome job Brad. Really great topics and discussions. Loved the look back on mgs5 and hearing chris' thoughts. Lots of final fantasy and baldurs gate talk, also great discussion on elden ring. Keep it up. Looking forward to next week :)
Chris I'm waiting for the day you replay MGS4. Times change and perspectives change, and while it will be like watching a movie at times it's themes are also prescient like MGS2 and it's definitely the epic conclusion that wraps up the series as we know it, as Brad stated. Emulate if we never see an official release, it's a must.
Really enjoyed the conversation, I got really into trails during COVID. For Brad, the nice thing about the games is that it all connects and nothing you spend doing in those first games is wasted. Every location, character, and story is still being referenced as of the end of the cold steel saga. With great music and gameplay throughout.
I would like to thank Easy Allies for catering towards their few mentally ill fans over at Resetera and in return driving Brad away to LSM. Seriously what a huge lose and fumble for Easy A but I ain't complaining lol cause now at least Brad can actually make $$$
I really think the strength of the finals is every class has things that makes them op. The imbalance is what makes it balanced imo. The only thing that needs to be changed is the light should have a few equipment/abilities that effect the team. I understand they are pretty much the assassin/rogue class but they need an option to buff teammates. They have the invis grenade but it's bugged out. They should give their team a speed buff or something like that. Other than that it's just a great game. The best mp shooter in a long time by far.
Problem with BG3: - Levelling ends at 12. Which is about 20 hours before the end of the game. Yes I know beyond that DnD levels get crazy with powers. However, devs should NEVER have levelling stop with 20 hours still to go in a giant RPG. Ridiculous ... game went from a 10/10 to a 9 because of this for me.
@@quezcatol Yeah ... I did as many side quests as I could. Not all of them though. Still I was equal level to most opposition in act 2, and the challenge was pretty intense. In a game that has such amazing progression, it's a bad design decision to stop levelling entirely with 20+ hours left in the game. It's like being punished for doing side quests instead of rewarded.
I get that. I played bard on my playthrough with my friends, and I’ve played bard to level 20 in D&D and man was I a little disappointed. Bard gets rediculous around 15 or 16. Hell even level 13 you get to choose some more level 6 spells from any other spell book. I just assume there’s gonna be an expansion
@@marcushankins8171 Exactly, and I just don't see any reviewer bringing this up. Can you IMAGINE if you'd stop levelling in Starfield after level 20 or something? It would get destroyed online.
Still sucks that Vicarious Visions were forced to be absorbed into Blizzard after the great work they did with Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2. Each earned 10 million+ sales each and were critically acclaimed. Now most of the dev team is all broken up or left. Jen O'Neal was not happy about it understandably.
Demon slayer does have a mario party style game coming 26th April but I bet it won't sell aswell as the 3d fighters and thats why we get the same shit. I do enjoy the 3d fighters though as I just want to play as the badass characters from the show.
I like Sea of Stars but don’t love it. The story gets by because of a few twists and turns that keep up the momentum. The battles can be repetitive at times but at least the game doesn’t promote grinding. It’s quite linear. Garl is probably the best character, but I don’t use him much because I prefer Serai in combat. Zale is my least favorite but I appreciate his Sun powers. The game lets you switch out party members mid-battle which is nice, but I only need to do that in the more drawn-out battles.
Other than the “wrap it up” stuff, and giving awards off screen, with TGA, I enjoyed the show. There was a ton of games shown, which is what E3 was. A longer show with more time for awards and speeches would be perfect for me as a casual viewer of TGA.
Didnt have any bugs in Starfield, it was just a boring game, that ran like dog poo on a high end system. Im personally done excusing them because "aww look how sad todd is" Dont care.
2:38 - this just seems weird. And a reminder that hosts on big podcasts aren’t interacting with videogames the same way their audience is. Their takes are based on an understanding of gaming and tech where lots of things are just free.
Trails series is never coming to Xbox and the only way it comes to Game Pass is if it is on PC. There is no financial benefit for the games to come to Xbox. Also Xseed owns the rights to the Sky Trilogy and Cold Steel 1 & 2 and they have no plans to ever bring the Sky Trilogy to the consoles unfortunately.
I've the smallest complaint to make. The intro music, what's going on there? You have it sort of cut into itself and repeat then fade out into the podcast itself. It happened in the first episode and its back here again so I imagine it's a choice but a bad one. Let the intro music cut right into the podcast or cut that first 10 or so seconds. I can understand the patreon spiel at the start, what bothers me is the way you've just mashed things together there. I hope that somewhat got the point across.
This podcast has taught me how much diction means to me, personally. Also, reading. Is this the illiteracy problem Colin goes on and on about reading its ugly head?
@@spenny2cents English is my second language so I didn't notice that. But does it really matter? Most americans are illiterate anyway, as Colin has stated multiple times.
What a great addition! Not just Brad, but just the idea of a big chunky podcast for LSM peeps to talk shop is such an easy listen. But also Brad is killing it!
Coming from EZA, I'm really digging this show and the LSM crew so far. Great stuff! Matty defending FF13-2 is awesome. It's up there with some of my FF favorites as well and fixed so much of what FF13 did wrong.
Insomniac studio is overrated. They are mediocre storytellers, but great at doing character traversal action and showing shiny graphics. Sony fanboy MBG call it middling and I agree with him. It was a sketchy episodic game that had no resolution or consequence. Venom was used as an ad for future dlc. They are milking their customers.
I remember when Brad made a joke during some Jackbox game about somebody eating cheeseburgers and it seemed like Jones had to give him a talking to. I thought the joke was funny as hell, no insult to overweight peeps. It’s nice to not need a filter, but also Brad is probably more wise so he can be selective about his jokes.
Love how the questions come in as part of the relevant discussion and arent saved for some unrelated segment. I'm amazed Brad, you've really improved the formula. 👏
As much as I love the news and commentary from the other shows it’s really great to hear you guys talking about games and your experiences with them. Didn’t know I wanted this kind of content from LSM as I usually skimmed through the “what have we been playing” sections. Keep up the great work Brad!
3:19:45 Dude... I had the same exact experience. Two of my friends would come over, we'd order food throughout the day, play games between the conferences and talk about the announcements. S tier day right there.
Brad, or as my son affectionately calls you, Dustin 2. Loving the show, it's great to get into the nitty gritty of gaming conversation like this, it really scratches the itch that I don't get in my adult friend circles. Keep up the great work 👏
First off, shoutout Trails through Daybreak. Kinda surprised Matty's playing with a fan translation when the official release is in like six months, but you do you. Second, holy shit thank you Matty for shouting out the weird grammatical stuff in Sea of Stars. I noticed it right away when I played and it really never let up. It's not bad enough to be egregious, but it's distracting enough to take me out of it every time I notice it. And no one else I've talked to about the game has really said anything about it. Anyways great episode! Looking forward to more.
