Stayed up late to edit and upload this one. As mentioned, there are some days here where I just don't know what the day has is store. This was one of those days. Helped out with the F-100, and well as helping with the T-A4 and A-1D Skyraider. Ever closer to the airshow!
The TBM Avenger shown at the beginning is owned and operated by ‪@LoneStarFlightMuseum‬ . She is on display at the museum when not flying, and she’s a gorgeous aircraft!

as a former Skyhawk maintainer, I did enjoy seeing the TA-4's gear being swung! Those doors close with such apparent force that you can't help but imagine a finger getting caught. Yow! The engine run was fun too! I notice that the hydraulic access panel was open and the hydraulics were being checked.... everything check out okay?

Man, that was awesome! Nice to see all the old girls converting fuel into noise 😁. The Skyraider, man. After the Phantom, it's my favorite aircraft in the video. A totally mean, badass machine. Beautiful.

You out did yourself with this one. Excellent as always. I'd love to see y'all out here at CCAS sometime. I remember the days when the active duty F4's, F105's, A4's and A7's were at KMHR when it was an active SAC base.

She does, the Wright R-3350. Different variant though as the Skyraider didn't use the turbo-compounding system that the Super Fort had.

Wow! This a gem of a video. Lot of engine running and movement of planes. With the F-100’s J57 standing in for an F-8 Crusader’s and the TA-4 Skyhawk and A-1 Skyraider…you pretty much have the noise of an Essex class carrier from the mid 60’s. Just need an E-1B Tracer and maybe an SH-2 SeaSprite. 🙂

Skyraiders are larger than most think. A fantastic aircraft that could do just about anything. Sorry that it's no longer in service. I think that it's still viable today.

Was wondering why the main gear wasn't engaging the yellow hook when it retracted, but then I realized that must be the catapult bridle hook-up (on the A-4)! I'm not putting a lot of hope in the DCS Skyraider, but we'll see. Meanwhile, Grinnelli's updated progress tracker for the F-100 puts it at just under a year to go (if you do the math)!

I would like to see more volunteers on her as well. On reflection, since she will be a static display at the airshow, more attention is being given to the ones that will be flying as we draw closer to the airshow weekend.

The next time you start the Air Cart for the F-100, you might want to blow it out before you hook it up to the aircraft incase something might have ctawed into the hose.

The gloss paint job on the Skyraider seems wrong. That and the lack of oil streak coming out the exhaust…. But it’s nice that the instrument panel is original!

Oh, she blew a good snort of oil out onto the fuselage and leading edge of the wing on that startup. The dark green paint in that area does kinda hide it a bit, but we had some cleaning to do afterward!

@@DieselThunderAviation yeah I typed my comment before it fired up. I had a pair of jeans ruined accidentally brushing up against a Skyraider fuselage and the oil out of the exhaust.
