Man, my back hurts just from watching all that digging by hand. 🥴👏👏👏

Mine started to again when I watched the clips for editing Jon! These guys worked tirelessly and I was severely tempted to bring them back to the UK with me to create even more ponds! Lots more on this to come, not sure if you have seen the latest episode. Thanks for the support, best wishes - Joel

I’m imagining you’re really appreciating all the machinery you have here to save you all that backbreaking work. That ground looks SO hard! Really enjoying these videos, Joel. 😍

What hard working guys. It will really make you appreciate having heavy machinery to dig your ponds back home! A great experience for you though!

Hello! Thank you, so sorry about the delay in responding but so many comments to catch up with and I've been working away for 3 weeks now. But I'm editing the latest episode now and hope to upload for Friday. These guys are multi-talented, hard working and I certainly wish I could have brought them back with me, they'd certainly cope in Scotland and Wales where I've been! Best wishes, Joel

Great to see part 2 Joel. I have absolute respect for them Native Indians who knew how to respect the land and only use what they need. Ponds coming on nicely 👍

With some overhanging plants that'll be the perfect breeding habitat for red eyed tree frogs and other Agalychnis species 😊

Just curious as to why you dig slanted sides instead of steps or terraces of 3 different depths? I would think it be easier to add plants and large rocks into a pond with terraces rather than in one with slopped sides? But maybe slops are better for critters?

Thank you, so much - it was an absolutely incredible location to work in, and aided by such hard-working and determined guys who made it all worthwhile. Another episode uploaded lastnight, where there's even more hard work going on! Best wishes, Joel

@DJG999 - it's absolutely for the critters to get in and out, but we plant directly into the soil, rather than with baskets so it negates any unnecessary use of plastic and the more plants the more cover for amphibians, and the more floral diversity the better it is for the insects :) Hope that helps, best wishes - Joel

Thank you Edwin, these guys worked unbelievably hard and they're now keen to install ponds for wildlife in the villages where they reside, which makes it all even more worthwhile. Another episode uploaded last night, and you'll see that the hard work didn't go away! Best wishes, and thank you again - Joel

Dang, Joel. You must’ve sweated several buckets that day 😃. I hope you drank LOTS of water. Plenty of surface roots to contend with, but not too bad. I guess the soil gets compacted from all the rain pounding all the time. You’d think it would be easier to dig. Glad you had plenty of help. Probably could’ve done it in less than half the time with machinery and much less sweat.

Hey Joel! That soil looked like hard work! What hard workers your helpers were. Can't wait to see how it progresses. Loved the chair they made you, hope it made it back to the UK with you. Best wishes.

Hello! So sorry for the delay again, but have been working on a large project in Scotland and also Wales, so just catching up again during lunch break. But yes, these guys are absolute power-houses and their stamina knows no bounds! I really wished I could have kidnapped them and brought them back to the UK, but they're now armed with knowledge and keen to make more ponds in the villages where they reside, so it's even more worthwhile :) That chair weighed a huge amount so it now sits proudly next to the pond - more updates to come on this and another episode uploaded lastnight :) Hope you're all keeping well, best wishes - Joel

@@SisterDogmata 😄Sorry! Didn't make it clear that the chair had to stay at the pond in Panama, it weighed a ton (or thereabouts!) and would've cost more than my seat on the plane to get it back home! But it's sitting in pride of place and I do hope to return and sit on it again and watch all the wildlife enjoy the pond. I guess kidnap was the wrong term too...👀😁

Hope no one injured their backs with those boulders. I’d love to see what dragonflies, butterflies and other wildlife are attracted to it. I remember the humidity in the Eden project tropical biosphere, did you get used to it after a few days?
