Hey friends! Welcome to our vanlife with a baby shake down road trip! In this episode we’re heading up to Scotland to test out life on the road ready for leaving for Europe in the Spring.
This time in Scotland we’re crossing the border near Gretna Green and driving the Borders Historic route up to Edinburgh. Along the way we stop at Hawick, Selkirk, Melrose Abbey, Dalkeith Country Park, Haddington, Musselburgh and and take a detour into the Moffat Hills.
While there we decide to take on our first proper hike with Ady and climb up through the epic scenery of the Grey Mares Tail Nature Reserve to Loch Skeen.
We’re wild camping the whole way - save emptying and refilling our tanks - so we’re really trying to work out if we have everything we need on board for leaving the country proper.
Tune in to see how we get on, what travelling with a 4 month old baby is like and check out the awesomeness of this Scotland road trip route.

Nice quiet days with your family is all that's needed. You shouldn't feel like you always have to give your audience something extra. Simple days in your van (home) is enough. She is absolutely adorable.

Looks great area. Ady is enjoying it too. Food looks fab as does the donut. Enjoy. We took our son everywhere, not van life, but holidays and days out. And yes can take forever to get out of the door. Fab job. X

"Everything takes longer with a baby" that cracked me up because it's so true 😊 I really wish I could have done what you are doing when my babies were that age... I am sure its challenging sometimes but its definitely the perfect way to live. ❤

Haha, yeah I know I was staying the obvious but until you have one you just don’t realise quite how much longer things take! There are definitely challenges and advantages but we’re enjoying it all 😊❤️

Another great vlog! I love how you try out the local food and drink. Your cooking looks delicious too. Baby Ady is so chilled. I’ve not visited towns at the Border but hopefully will this year. Enjoy the rest of your travels in Scotland. Look forward to your visit to the Kelpies. Whenever we have visited there it can be very cold at this time of year but worth it. Safe travels!

Thank you! It always amazes us how many different foods we discover up here, considering it’s just across the border! You should definitely try the border towns, there are so many gorgeous, quaint little places to explore. This was our first time seeing the Kelpies - they’re absolutely incredible. And we got decent weather for it too 😀

I grew up around Moffat and have been to the Grey Mares Tail countless times. I think you're the first people I've seen taking a wee baby up there! 🤘😀 Also, tablet is great for a hike. Especially if, like me, you can't stomach Kendal Mint Cake! 🤢 A few Moffat Toffees to counterbalance the richness of the tablet helps too! 😋😂

So glad to see you back guys with baby Ady. It's lovely to see such a happy chilled baby, it is obvious she takes after her happy chilled mam and dad, doing a great job guys (sorry guys retired Health Visitor). Getting our van back soon and will be following in your foot steps that's for sure. Another great video, with amazing scenery. Take care and stay safe guys xxx

Oh wow, 7 daughters! That must have been a lot of fun for you all but definitely would have been a challenge to all fit in a van. Great video. Love that you always try to include local foods. I had to look up sultanas and discovered they are Thompson seedless grapes and dried different than our US raisin. Interesting! Ady is adorable and seems to enjoy her hikes and massages. Thanks for sharing, always enjoy and looking forward to the next video.

Hari OM &*> Educational moment; Hawick is pronounced 'hoick' - and thank you, James, for honouring the bannock with the A+ for it is truly a tasty bread. My dad was a dab hand at making tablet... a can of condensed milk, caster sugar, 'fat' milk and butter. I'd've chopped each of those bits you had into four. More than enough in one bite! Sigh... the Borders, land of my childhood and youth. Edinburgh is such an easy city to get around, too. Glad you liked it so much!!! Ady is clearly taking it all in too - sending my usual ether hugs to her! YAM xx
@TheWholeWorldorNothing
@TheWholeWorldorNothing 2 года назад
Haha well that’s embarrassing 😅 We didn’t actually hear anyone say it so just pronounced it as we saw it! The bannock is genuinely one of my favourites, really rich and indulgent. We got two but still haven’t finished the first. We’re still going with the tablet too 🤣 We really love the borders, it’s somewhere we’ll head back to again and again, I’m sure. Hugs from Ady 🤗 ❤️

Strangely enough I actually think it may have been a fox and in my sleepy state I misheard the sound as a whistle because we found some fresh fox droppings outside the door when we went out that morning… But it was pretty freaky regardless!

Hey folks, again, loving your content. Just a request that maybe you've seen or some other people have requested or recommended... You go to some STUNNING locations... would you consider dropping a What3Words link on your videos to show where you've been? We’re still trying to get to grips with moving and working and filming alongside being parents 😅 If you have any specific locations you would like to know then send us a message and we’d be happy to try and provide you with the details. Thanks again ☺️

Another fab video guys and to see your vanlife with little ady has been so lovely 🥰 I don’t suppose you’ve found out anything more on the router? I nipped into a three shop last week and they were totally oblivious to any router with aerial plugins! Anyway, looking forward to the next one, sending hugs xx Jen, Nick & Luna xx🐾

@TheWholeWorldorNothing 2 года назад
Thank you 😊 We have been looking into the router and have found a few threads on vanlife type message boards saying very similar things to what you’ve found and there are a few people who have made suggestions for alternatives but unfortunately we just haven’t had time to look into them fully yet. We’ll let you know once we do. The product just seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth! Should have some time this week to look into it further so will update then xx
