Jiri’s unorthodox and brazen sans-defense style is excellent for generating hype, and for working his way up the rankings to title contention. It’s a terrible style for keeping a title, as well as for career longevity. It’s also not great for fighting a better, more technical, more disciplined striker over whom he does not have his customary reach advantage. I think Weezy called it dead on: the second iteration of this fight is very likely to play out very similar to the first. Pereira by TKO and we don’t get to R4. Thats what I noticed on tape. Jiri doesnt make adjustments, he's always all offense and no defense so he's not gonna check calf kicks. If he doesnt grapple early or land a big shot and get on top, its just a matter of time before Alex shuts down Jiri's calf or lands the left hook

Mayra vs Macy? Tough to predict. Mayra is…better, but Macy is a lot bigger, and probably a fair bit stronger. If Macy isn’t afraid of Mayra, I think she’s live for the upset, but I could also see Mayra hurting Macy early and Macy fighting defensive for the whole rest of the fight on the way to a lopsided decision loss. Or, if they both go for the grappling, a sub is live on either side. If ends by sub is good odds, maybe I’ll take it.

I agree about Roman needing a takedown, but when have we ever seen him complete a quality takedown? And that was at 185, now he’s facing a bigger guy at 205. If he can get a takedown he’s probably a -500, but I can’t trust him to know how to get a guy from standing to the ground unless he drops him

There isnt a fighter in the UFC's Middleweight or Light Heavyweight division who couldnt take Anthony Smith down. He has THE WORST TD defense I have ever seen. He even pulls guard sometimes so Roman might not even need the statisticians to credit him with a TD in order to find himself in top position. Smith wants to use his BJJ so he really doesnt resist TDs.

Hola! Here comes a comment dump on every fight from the the document I’ve been taking notes on. Simon vs Oliveira. Good to see Simon back at bantam. The fight should end ITD. Specifically, Simon by sub R3, or late R2 after tiring Oliveira out. IMO Simon is safe to parlay.

While Ortega’s striking has improved, I doubt that he will decline to grapple when the opportunity presents itself. Can he sub Lopes? I doubt it. And I can’t overlook how many fights he was losing on the score cards before winning by sub. Also, I think this may be the largest size deficit he’s faced hitherto. I don’t his striking advantage (if he has one) is of sufficient magnitude to outweigh Lopes advantage in power and reach. Stylistically, I think this fight favors Lopes. I originally bet Ortega before thinking it through, but now I am pretty solidly on Lopes. Happily the line seems to swinging the right way.

Can Robertson hold Waterson down? Waterson is quite scrambly. I call dog or pass on this one, and I bet Waterson early. I might put something on ends by split or Waterson by decision. If you like Robertson, I think the sub prop is the way to go.

It's such a good fight, a way better main event than McGregor/Chandler. I think Alex's left hook and calf kicks make the difference but the bet I will certainly be making in this fight is the under 2.5 or 3.5.

Unless this is the fight where age suddenly catches MVP, I think he takes a decision here. I expect he will have game-planned in some wrestling, but I don’t think he’ll have enough success that he’ll stick to it. I actually think this might end up being a very boring Adesanya vs Romero type staring context with intermittent fence pushing mixed in. I hope I’m wrong.

mark climaco and jiniushiyue both smoke hernandez, it's not his toughest test. I'm not even sure there are harder tests for him outside the top 15

I definitely disagree with that. Hernandez is a solid prospect with a good, all around game. Road to UFC is very low level, Climaco probably gets into the UFC at some point but not Jinushuye. Rei has a lot to prove still, Hernandez is going to be a good test for him.

Oddly, they will make the same claim if they get starched in R1, as well as after the outcome of just about any unrelated fight in their respective divisions. I can picture Dolidze putting a career ending beating on Smith by GnP. Anyhow, Dolidze by brutal finish (either method) from top position.

I haven't made a single bet with juice in years. The only one I was forced to bet was Toporia vs Folk but he was still the dog. The problem I see is they don't learn from losses. Every 20 something or 18 19 20 year old kid I see is spending their weekly paychecks on 7leg parlizzys!!! I can't talk sense into any of them. He damn near beat Acosta last time out as a +550 underdog. Andrei still has something left in the tank but c'mon. He's 45 years old. Got slept by Don'Tale Mayes. His fights have been so boring for so long now that I'm just illustrating that it's hard to care anymore. I think my reasoning is this… none of Jourdains WINS are against anyone good. Gracie isn’t good and neither is Vannata or Ewell. Dude lost to Erosa who would also probably get smoked by Silva. I think Silva is an unknown quantity. Don’t disagree with you guys there… but I think Jourdain is a known quantity… and that quantity is mid at best.
