In the second game they have pretty distinctive personalities and they reveal fragments from their pasts. I actually really like Law and Ollie.

Came back to this video because I'm enjoying SoD2 now more than ever and it's about to overtake SoD1 regarding total playtime... And I didn't like it at release. But I'm wondering: did you ever come back to it? I think it's improved a lot and now just offers more of what I knew and loved about SoD1 in a better package abd with superior graphics and gameplay. It's pretty neat and has me hyped for SoD3, I hope that will be GotY material or at least great after a few patches, I'm down for a new definitive Zombie game like that...

I have State Of Decay on 360 & I played it for weeks after I got it & it's still fun to play. Even though I've raided almost every place for resources....and its super short story. You could escape the valley in about a day, give or take gameplay time.

Hell no, from the very start it was stressing more than funny. Every time you cleaned a plague heart another appeared within 5 minutes. You had no time at all for anything so it was stressing more than fun. The characters were super flat just as the first one, which is another matter; the game didn't improve more than graphically

I really enjoyed the first game. I like the moral, and overall Sims like quality of base management. I def. see what you mean about the boring aspects of the game. Also, I was annoyed that they would not just call zombies, zombies, as well. I managed to keep my first character to the very end of the game where he was ripped in half. The perma-death feature was new for me, at that time. Thinking back though, I am unsure if I was attached to my character because of story elements or just because I had managed to keep him alive the longest.

I think the only way to make a zombie game even a little original is that you make the special zombies the standard then make up new shit. 1. Super Mario-Jumps 20 feet into the air from a standing start. 2. spider-man-Climbs walls. 3.Fused bodies- Centaurs, minotaurs, chainsaw for an arm, something from Sharknado etc. 4. Intelligent, Aggresive, Talkative and Hangry. 5.Others. And then it takes place in Ravenholme or something, traps lots of traps.

It's not a disappointment. If anyone liked the first game, they will like this one. State of Decay was never an all appeasing game, it has its own niche, which incorrectly gets painted by the wide brush of "another zombie game"
