My son suffers from schizoaffective disorder with his bipolar, so he has no grasp on reality when he has a manic episode and it is horrifying to witness. When it is all over, he doesn't have much recall and it is hard to get him to understand where we are with him during those difficult times. He is currently doing well and we are grateful. So glad you have a grasp on your illness Maurice and missing you on GH with these baseball playoffs going on.

You are so loving and real! My Dad, and Uncles suffered from bi-polar, depression and anxiety. My son does as well. My Dad and Uncle (his next, older brother, committed suicide, just a few years apart, in the late 60s and 1972. I have worked my ass off to help my son, but it is really his road to walk. I can walk along side, but must drop his hand. At 47, he must take the raines and do this with God's love and guidance. You have no idea, how helpful you have been. I just adore you and your family. Sweet baby, what a blessing you are being born into. What a wonderful life you will have with your new Grandparents. I am so grateful to you, for sharing your thoughts, feelings, and journey. Anxiety is horrible! My Mom had mental illness, she had cancer , I'm an only child so it was all on me when she was at the end of her life, I spent her last days with her and battling my anxiety the whole time! I am so grateful for these messages state of mine. It help me to understand better as a single mother. My youngest son 15 year old soon to be 16 has mental illness. I will never give up on my son. Even though I get verbally abuse and always walking on egg shells. He is getting meds, counseling, and treatments that are needed. Even though my health is declining God is always their to care for us.

Congratulations Heather, Phil, and Maurice. It is a struggle to deal with Bi-Polar. Bur having a good support system thru family and friends is a blessing. My oldest son suffered 2 head injuries as a young boy. Thru these my sons life changed and I lost the son I raised tge first12 yrs of his life. I had no idea what he and I were in for. Congratulations on your new granddaughter, Maurice! I have 2 little grandsons, and they are my reason for living. I almost gave up during the quarantine. But my son brought my grandsons to see me on one of those really dark days. And my 4 year old grandson asked me, "Why you don't feel good, Grandma?" That question from that sweet child forced me to call my doctor for help. She changed my medication, and I am feeling so much better! Thank God!

I am so thankful for you and I thank you for bringing awareness to mental health. I’m 33 with anxiety and depression and it’s not easy. I really loved what you said about turning the tv on and that message about The preacher saying “I lived my whole life with anxiety and nobody knows how difficult it really is.” That is the truest thing I have ever heard. There are days I don’t shower, days I sit alone, days that it takes everything in me to force myself to get up and leave the house. You are not alone! 💚

It's taken me 50 years to see my worth and to love myself. You're blessed to have people who love and support you. Congrats on the new little one.

I really needed to hear this tonight, Maurice. I am not bipolar, but I do suffer from anxiety and feelings of being unworthy. When you suffer is when you learn, but you don't believe it when you're in it. OMGosh, truer words were never spoken!!!! I had an emotional meltdown just a few hours ago, and I told my husband that I can't identify why I have the state of mind that I do about how I see myself. I am constantly in a state of feeling ashamed about so many aspects of who I am. My mom shamed me throughout my childhood and into adulthood. I know that has had a huge affect on me, but I believe there is something deeper, but I can't identify the origin. And I believe that if I could figure out what that demon is, then I'd be able to battle it head on. But how do you battle against an unknown? So all of those thoughts led me to wonder if I have some sort of childhood trauma that I've repressed. Now I find myself in search of others to speak with who can identify with what I am feeling. I'm of the thought that if I can't identify the root of the shame, I'm not going to be able to move forward with what the Lord has called me to do to serve others. If you have a perspective on this, I would be grateful to hear it!!! Thank you for sharing the most vulnerable moments of your life with your fans!!! I've been watching you on GH ever since you joined the show, so I feel like I know you. But now that you've shared so much of your mental health journey, I feel like I know you more deeply. It's always refreshing to hear others share their (raw) stories because it helps others of us feel less alone in our battles!!

Wow! This is amazing. I am so glad you created this forum. So much of this, I have lived with my entire life. Now, my 16 year old son suffers from Anxiety and situational depression. I've always been open with him about this subject since he could speak. Although, like you, I tried to hide my anxiety and sadness from him, by encouraging the sharing of feelings and emotions from a very young age, when he had a "breakdown" last year, I immediately recognized the signs. I made him talk to me in a safe and comfortable "zone". At 14, he recognized the need, and asked for help. I found a great therapist for him and am elated to say that this Wednesday, October 7th, is his final session... ending on HIS own terms, and with my blessing. I couldn't be more proud of my son. Thank you for sharing something so personal with the world. My continued wish is that the negative stigma surrounding mental health, will one day be just a faded memory. Too many lives have been lost because of it... many teens... so many I know personally... gone too soon because no one would listen. You are an amazing man Maurice Benard. I've always been a fan of your work... just as much a fan of how you live your life. May God continue to bless and watch over you and your family always! For me... faith is everything! 😊🙏✝️💞

Good afternoon Maurice & family! Hope you're having a wonderful day today! As I've stated in a previous video, I too suffer from depression, anxiety & severe panic attacks. I'm 47yrs old & I've been suffering from this since I was 10 yrs old; depression came later on in my life. When you stated that you were shaking, I completely understood that because I too shake, tremble, feel dizziness, weakness, heart palpitations, etc. I also understood when you stated if others are aware because we feel it's obvious but I know I try to cover my systems to not let others become aware. It's definitely been a long battle which I try to get through each day, some days are better than others. Maurice, thank you for bringing Heather on board for the chat today, she’s sweet, beautiful and honest. I’ve never hid my Bi-polar illness from my daughter’s, they’ve even visited me in the hospital when I first had a breakdown (which has been years ago) but because they’ve seen me at my worst, they don’t like it and don’t want to talk about or even want my illness (disease as they call it) around my grandchildren. But what they don’t understand is that I wasn’t diagnosed with Bi-polar disorder until I was 40 years old and now I’m 62, and they are 32 and 40 years old so it can happen to them just as easily as it did to me. Thank you Maurice, I love these little talks, they help me so much. Also congratulations on the baby, Heather will be a great Mom and you’ll be a wonderful grandpa.

It has to be a huge relief to you that you don’t have to hid anymore. The biggest thing to take away from this is you can’t be too proud to ask for help and rely on those that love you to get through the really tough times. With luck and God willing those times will become less and less with the help of medication and Psychotherapy. I wish the best for you.

Thank you for being so candid and vulnerable. I don't understand how your and where your video came from, but it appeared on my RU-vid feed. I'm 53 and have suffered alone with anxiety and depression for most of my life. I've been able to " fake the funk" for many years. However, I'm feeling like my shell is breaking and I'm unable to pretend anymore. I feel like I'm about to be exposed. If it wasn't for my faith in God, I wouldn't be here. I try so hard to not let anyone see the pain I carry with me internally for fear of being looked at as beinhcrazy, weak, and unstable . Your videos have provided comfort to me in knowing that I'm not alone . Again, thank you for sharing.
