State Of Origin 2013, game 3, with Gus Gould speaking exclusively, in edited form, to "the big four" of Queensland; Cameron Smith, Jonothan Thurston, Cooper Cronk, & Billy Slater.
@J. AI Rugby league is not only popular in 4 countries u idiot. Australia, New Zealand, England, Samoa, Tonga, Papua New Guinea, Lebanon, Scotland and many more
@MAN UTD why does this guy even exist honestly one of the most toxic people. Going into comments of other sports and then pasting how much fans soccer has. Literally no one asked mate, people can like different sports bud not just soccer.
The class of forwards that laid on the platform for this quartet were equally as impressive. Price, Carroll, Civoniceva, Webb, Flannery, Crocker, Parker, Harrison, Johnson, Myles, Scott, Thaiday, Lillyman, Costigan, Hannant, Shillington, Taylor, Gillett, Teo, McQueen, Papalii, Guerra, McGuire, Cooper, Napa, Wallace, Glasby.
Started school in 2006. Never saw one Blues series victory ask my school life. Had a lump in my throat in 2012 when we came so close. That QLD team gave us NSWmen and particular the young kids nightmares. Luck to win it in 2014.
That was one of the jokes towards the end of the dynasty. "There are kids going to school now that have never seen NSW win a series in their life time."
Inglis was excluded because these blokes knew each other at very young age before they even got into first grade and share a unique bond. Its a story of the 4 QLD spine and Inglis was never in the story, if he was he would have been included there to share the same story.
4 of some of the best players ever to play the game and they all played for one team for most there careers. Madness. Storm won a load but with Cronk Slater and Smith they should’ve won more
Everything they talk about is what is lacking in NSW origin. Simple, play for your mate and never let him down. Once you have that belief among a sporting group, anything is possible.
Amazing players, Thurston, best half every, Smith best player ever, Slater beat full back ever, Cronk the most meticulous player ever and one of the best halves ever.
Except that Joey had to wait for Langer to retire before he got a gig. Even Kimmorley kept Joey out of halfback for rep teams. You’re a goose Zmart! A straight up goose. Perhaps you’re joeys mummy.
john browndog that tends to happen mate. The new player has to wait for the veteran to retire. Which is why Thurston had to wait for Joey to retire and played off the bench in his test debut. Joey in his test debut played out of position at hooker and set the record for most points ever scored in a test debut, won mvp of the World Cup and was only 20 years old. Please only reason kimmorley got the nod of Joey was cuz of Chris Anderson who favoured kimmorley. Selectors wanted Joey at halfback but Anderson wanted kimmorley. Pretty sure Thurston played out of position most of his career anyway. So did Cronk and slater
As a Filipino kid new in Australia growing up in the 80s , watching SOO , The King went to our school a chopper landed on our footy field and all the kids were all hailing the king And yes Definitely a very sad moment for me the day after an origin lost 😞 , the excitement watching the origin in the 80s as a kid I’ll never forget
I've really enjoyed watching this guys on the field. They were always an inspiration for the team and audience. They were so great snd their legacy will be a always story to tell.❤❤❤❤❤
3 future immortals and a fantastic halback in Cronk, they've grown up together and know each others games inside out, i'm amazed they lost a game let alone a series, as a blues supporter its impossible not to appreciate the quality of some of those Queensland teams of the last 10 years, throw in G.I, Boyd, Scott and Civoniceva, just to good.
john browndog AHAHAHA you’re clueless. Thurston probably will be an immortal even though he shouldn’t cuz you gotta be good at more than 50% of the game, Cronk shouldn’t even be mentioned. He’s a hall of famer but no immortal. Joey changed the way halfbacks play the game mate
Joeys SOO record at HB - 7 wins 7 losses 2 draws. JTs SOO record at HB - 12 wins 7 losses. Cronks SOO record at HB - 11 wins 5 losses Langers SOO record at HB - 17 wins 15 losses 1 draw You don’t need to be much of a mathematician to figure out who has the shittest record out of these guys. In fact grade 1 math would suggest the shittest record belongs to the token immortal. So basically, the one who has no clue... is YOU!! Goose.
Inglis isn't chosen because centre is not a major position for the sqaud. They call it the big four because its three playmakers and the speedster of the sqaud.
Kmart.. Allan Langer - 4 premierships. 37 games for QLD winning 19 as halfback. Represented Aus 25 times at halfback. Andrew Johns - 2 premierships.. 23 games for NSW won 7 as halfback. Represented Aus in 23 Tests.. from the bench, at hooker, and occasionally at half. Now if you want.. we can introduce Thurston and Cronk into the equation as well. Joeys rep career was utter shite as far as halfback goes.
Because Inglis isn't as good as any of them . And although he's good it's only the respect by the indiginous communities that made him so iconic to rugby league
People keep mentioning GI but its about the SPINE, GI is & will always be amazing but a 'Single' amazing player doesn't win Games, a great 'Spine' does and its very very rare that spine consists of Super-Star Hooker, HB, 5/8 & a FB all in one team... yes there has been great combos like Alfy & wally or Fitler & Johns(& Minichello) but who was the regular Hooker &/or FB? These guys brought it to the table (Inc. Lockyer the Grandfather/King of it all) and the GI's Boyd's Civo's Price's Hodge's Gagai's Thaiday's Scott's Parker's Tate's of the Games finished what they was creating at any particular second of the game. There will NEVER be this again in our era. You pick the Top 18 players of the past 13yrs & they would beat any team from any era without a doubt.
Lads, Union is the real Rugby when will you fellaz take your love for Rugby to the next level .... I was once a League fan but once I got older and wiser - Union has more ways to score , more competition, and more followers and more entertainment
Albert Kelly Agreed, but how many of GI"s tries have been set-up by that spine, particularly Thurston? I'm not saying GI isn't a great player, he definitely is, but it's because he's got such a great spine setting up the plays that he's allowed to shine in the way that he does.
Garry Shearman in all honesty, not many. look at it this way, if GI was someone different, Thurstons efforts mostly would have gone to waste. It is precisely the greatness of GI that translated Thurstons efforts to tries. Besides that, my memory says most of GIs tries came from running over people and hence causing massive holes in defences that let him score himself or created tries for Boyd and others. In my opinion he really is head and shoulders above that spine put together. Put him in the NSW side and the 9-1 would more likely be split halfway...
My little brother born in 2002, he wasn't old enough to understand the early blues wins, but he hadn't seen a blues win until he was 12 years old in 2014. Long long time.
i only hope that every young person watching this aspires to be a true gentleman in sport as jt i am british but no person can beat him for his inspiration and respect for the people who support the game, i only hope their will be more sport people like him.. come on you salford reds.
Greg Inglis was excluded because he's such an individual beast who doesn't combine with anybody and just runs that one man army show all day. The other four have had uncanny combinations and connections developed over ten years whereas Inglis would just sit there thinking "I didn't need any help" not really adding anything to the interview. We all know how individual the bloke is
