Its not f2p, its got the same monitaztion as hell divers, 40 dollars with in game stuff to actuallt grind for and cosmetics that arent 500$. I personally believe the box model is the future again because if you've played any f2p shooters latley, theyre all infested with hackers and at some point the devs are gonna lose, theyre constantly playing defense and the hackers keep getting smarter and eventually the devs will just run out of solutions. This is why every game is trying to implement ways to varify you but the community never likes that stuff, like with overwatch and its phone number issue it had when it launched ow2. And now if you play ow2, its so bad that hackers can interrupt your connection to the servers and make you lag. So while it sucks it creates a barrier, that barrier is honestly the only real way to protect against hackers in the long run. I mean this nearly killed the finals on launch, and still could, the games riddled with hackers from day 1 and eventually f2p games are gonna drop with bigger playerbases of hackers than actual players and theyll be nothing the devs can do to stop it.
