I imagine this is because I'm just an average worker; never been on any type of government assistance but always barely making it. Not complaining, just stating facts. A Suggestion to ALL Voting Locations: you should have a separate line and few machines for our elderly, our disabled and our voters with precondition elements; if there's no drive-thru voting option.
Social Security offices are set-up that way. Once 1 year I have to verify to my Union's benefit office that I'm out on full SS Disability in order to get my pension. When you 1st check in, there's a machine that assigns you a ticket. I come up on the screen, go to the right window, show them my ID, they hand me the paperwork I need and I'm out the door. If it wasn't set-up that way, it could be hours.
My 1 hour wait was nothing compared to the 6-12 hour lines in Georgia. Those folks are absolute heroes for sticking it out. I figured if they can do it, so can I. I went prepared and now I have all these snacks. 😁 Way to go Texas. Let's show those assholes they can't suppress our vote and get away with it! You're next Abbot.

States run by Trump supporters are acting on the supposition that Trump supporters are more likely to stand in long lines than non-Trump supporters. I don't think that that's true. In fact, it was an unexpectedly large turnout in Midwestern States that got Trump elected. They MAY be working against their own interests.
I voted on Friday. There was a line through the parking lot but it moved quickly. Once inside everything was very organized. Altogether there was an upbeat vibe. I voted like our republic depended on it.
In Georgia, some people wait for Eleven Hours to vote. Why? Because the Georgia legislature closed down hundreds of polling places in Democratic and minority areas, while leaving them open in Republican areas. I'm serious. It's beyond disgusting.

I voted today, a Saturday, at 4:00 pm at Carver Library in Austin, TX; the Travis County Clerk's Wait Time Map had the wait time listed as 0 to 20 mins; the truth? There was no line. the wait time was 0 (zero), so the map works as far as I'm concerned. The key to early voting is not to vote on the first or last day. According to the poll workers, the number of voters has been very steady since day one. It helps that the polls are open all day on Saturday & Sunday too. Remember that during early voting, you can vote at any poll location; it doesn't have to be your registered precinct like on your voter registration card.
Unfortunately most Americans, even those that consider themselves to be educated, I really do not understand what the Electoral College is or does. For one, the Electoral College does not and I repeat does not, have to vote the same way that the citizens of the state that represents have voted. That means your entire State can vote for a person a and its electoral Representatives can vote for person B. Which in all actuality makes your vote as a citizen meaningless. Don't get mad at me. Ask Google.

I voted it only took thirty minutes! I am 69 years old and I do not put on a mask. They never said a word. We social distanced . And used a finger guard. And there was hand sanitizer available. O by the way I voted REPUBLICAN!

YOu know what these long lines of voting in person mean? Americans would rather brave the threat of the corona virus, even waiting and standing for hours if only to make sure that their votes are going to be counted. Personally, I have every reason to believe that majority of these people are Trump voters as they are the ones, on record, who have the patience and resolve when they attend Trump rallies.

No straight ticket option means taking more time for each voter to vote. Slow down the process making longer lines, lower turnout. But what we’ve seen in early voting is anything but.
There were no ballot measures for my precinct, so that made things a bit simpler. Curiously candidates for the Democratic party were listed second in each field unless there was no republican (or no other candidates) for that office.
It takes an extra 30 seconds to fill out the rest of the ballot, especially if you're voting straight ticket. If people are not prepared to know who theyre voting for, maybe they shouldn't be voting.

It took me 7 minutes to vote at my town hall in rural Maine. I am appalled at the long lines in Texas and Georgia. But I am proud of people sticking it out to make sure their voices are heard.
I've been an election worker for the past 6 federal elections and 2 provincial elections, and one thing I've seen is that when voting is up, especially early voting, it results in a vote against the incumbent.
