Mark A. Moyad MD, MPH, discusses how reducing caloric intake and improving heart health can help patients fight prostate cancer and reduce the odds of recurrent cancer. He also argues that experimenting with supplements along with cancer treatment can be disadvantageous and that over the counter drugs should only be taken with a certificate of analysis. Dr. Moyad further discusses how dietary changes for cancer patients will also improve their heart health, mental health, and quality of life.

Greatful for focus on Obese BMI 30+ discussion. You’ve helped me water Fast 3-days each week and drop 40 lbs in 90 days, and set a goal prior to youre support that I did not have a chance of meeting. I turned ‘Fresh Vegan’ but I soon hit a ‘flattened curve’ when my body adapted. Learning your point of whatever is heart healthy should be my focus and my obesity is a focus, then greater benefit from weight even beyond plant based diet, well then I doubled down on Fasting, while remaining plant based. Regrettably Intermittent fasting with 1-vegan meal a day only supported my weight on a nearly flat curve, so I upped anty to water fast 72-hours and remainder of week is 1-vegan dinner meal a day ended up being my ‘secret sauce’. Thank you for focus on OBESITY, grateful! Headed from 264.7 lbs May 30 to 178 lbs by Nov 30 goal with EBRT & Brachytherapy boost for Intermediate Unfavorable T2bc with Gleason 4 showing a subtype Cribriform aggressive & lethal morphology

What if the root cause is missed completely in these trials? First myth: cholesterol is bad for you, at least LDL. Not true, cholesterol is so important for your body, that the liver will make it when necessary. Higher total cholesterol is healthier (low mortality), this makes statins highly ineffective and actually quite unhealthy drugs. Second myth: LDL is bad cholesterol. HDL and LDL are both part of the same transport system actually they are converted in each other over time. LDL returns to the liver for absorption. When LDL is altered by sugar, or is oxidized, it is not recognized by the liver. Blame high blood sugar.. Oh yes, high unaltered LDL is actually lowering mortality. What IS important, is low triglycerides and high HDL, so ratio TG/HDL is a good marker and should be low. Third myth: lower caloric intake is beneficial. No, lower sugar and refined carb intake is beneficial! These are leading too high blood sugars, see myth #2. I know, it is a terrible sad thing to hear for us carb junkies, but quitting sugar, pasta, grains, fruit juices, sodas, low fat dairy, 'low fat everything' is beneficial. Oh, cereal is about the worst "food" in existence. Everything that will spike insulin, including sugar surrogates and packaged food with an ingredient list will fall in the category "BAD".. It is my expectation that trials that work with this on the horizon will show effectiveness in avoiding cancer, heart, stroke, kidney, prostate issues. Insulin is not only the key to glucose uptake from blood, but also a strong growth activating hormone (enlarged prostate)... Insulin resistance leads to the production of more and more insulin while cells are "full". Insulin levels can rise 5 or 6 times higher than normal. It will be a long way before all this is accepted, because bad for food and medical industries, so do not expect anything soon in this field.. Make your own choices, but equal important, do your own research! And evidence goes for eminence..🙏🏻

Not trying to be snarky but can you provide any literature on your statements? I'm honestly interested. My family has cholesterol problems and one of my father's veins/artery was just cleared which was 80% blocked. He doesn't eat a lot of sugar but doesn't eat a lot of vegetables either. His doctor has not discussed diet with him which I think is odd because most would do so. Anyway, I would be interested to know more about this. Thank you.

@@fastrivers812 in the mean time. I list an article of the kind of approach that I follow for myself. It is one case, of reversing a very light calcification. I have seen an improvement in my lipids (triglycerides and HDL) by following a low carb diet, eating fatty Atlantic fish, saturated animal fats, and taking Vit D3, Vit K2, magnesium, boron. I go for a low calcium score, but time will tell how effective it is. Search "Reversing coronary artery calcium using a functional medicine protocol"

@@fastrivers812 ,because most doctors don’t know much about Nutrition. They really aren’t taught much on the subject. Vitamin D3 and K2 are meant to take the calcium build up out of the blood and into the bones instead.

I agree with all your comments. The problem is many doctors don’t discuss these important lessons. They are there to help you when it’s too late and you are now sick. Their is so much educational information on You-Tube right now that can help you avoid many health issues. People need to do the research. Apple Cider Vinegar has been a life changer for me. I no longer need my acid blockers. I used acid blockers for about 2 weeks and threw them away after finding out about Apple Cider Vinegar. I take 1 tablespoon of ACV in 8 oz of water before every meal and my food digest much better and I no longer get heartburn. I am 195lbs now and started out at 216lbs. I also intermittent fast on and off . Just 2 examples of information I found on You-Tube. I don’t listen to everyone on You-Tube. I pick and chose what might work for me and try it. Trial and error.

Do a Alkaline diet. Cancer cannot live in an environment of too much hypoxia (oxygen) acidic a big yes, but not oxygen. Answer Alkaline but in a strict protocol Alkaline diet. It is scientific and proven. By Dr. Otto Warburg a twice winner of Nobel Prize winner in Berlin, Germany in 1931. AUA/Urology make a lot money in prostate cancer......cancer period. Figure it out.
