I am getting the idea you are an old time "Seiko shaker" like myself. Didn't know there was a name for me, until I saw it on the internet, and I still do it even if automatic watches have a movement with hand winding.

The sticky out thing ( technical term) on my Heimdallr sea ghost clasp fell off - luckily, the watch fell on my bed.
