Karen, you are one of the few social media women that promotes self expression in dress versus the safe beige on beige on beige dressing in all classic streamlined styling. I love to express myself through my clothes- it’s fun and satisfying. I have a modest budget but am always looking for unique styles. Really enjoy your channel.
It’s best to start with structural pieces, neutrals, and classic pieces then venture off to unique pieces that elevate your style especially if you are on a budget. Having those classic pieces helps you to create several outfits out of 6-12 pieces.
I have a vintage 100% wool Harris tweed trench coat that I found in Santa Cruz ca for 150 bucks and the woman who owned the store sold it to me for 75 because she liked it on me, I've had it for 12 years, there hasn't been a day that I've worn it and not received compliments
Love you and your videos! Best fashion content out there! I’m a woman of a certain age (60s) and I am sick of people telling me how I should dress for my age! Phooey!! I like fashion that stands out, odd pieces, and memorable outfits! I’m learning from you how to make my own style! Now about that Botega zebra clutch, GIRL! I love that bag, but it is quite out of my price range. No fear though ! I found a clutch nearly identical on Esty for a fraction of the price! I can’t wait to get it and style it with my wardrobe! Thanks for your styling tips! Keep doing what you do! Carol
OMG! I’m 61 and I feel the same way. I’m gonna wear what makes me feel good. I don’t pay attention to those who say dress your age! If I feel it, I’m wearing it!
Hey Karen - this old lady (64) loves watching you for inspiration … nothing dowdy or dumpy about my Wardrobe 😂. Many thanx to you for helping me embrace the fun side of fashion and helping me figure out my style. BTW - I picked up those beautiful Missoma earrings that you wore in this video and a few necklaces too 😊 at 30% off … thanx for the heads up and keep brining the 🔥. 🤩
I have a 70s black leather coat jacket, dock workers union style. Bought it second-hand in the early 2000s when I was at uni, still have it many years later. Should probably start wearing it more often again. 🤔😄
When I travel, I look for unique pieces that represent the culture I am experiencing. These are the pieces that receive the most compliments. Your channel inspires me.
My favorite vintage piece is a suede jacket that fit me like a glove. I'm often asked what brand it that? It's unbranded. I believe it was custom made for someone who chose to donate it. I'm so glad they did. I love wearing it.
What makes a look? Belts. for me always belts. I will always try to find a way to work them into a look, even if it doesn't need a belt. If I had the talent to rework old belts into bag straps or necklaces or cuffs or suspenders or jackets, I absolutely would. My favorite so far of all time is a belt made of watch faces with gold accents. It's so quirky and OTT and I love it.
Very nice video…. Love it all, but l think you forgot to insert the 3 tips: grey coat, the vintage looks and “the not more than 3 colors” looks. 🤔😞That’s what l like…. The examples you give.
I bought a periwinkle jacket and I love it. It elevates my mood whenever I put it on. My favorite vintage pieces are actually jewelry. I have a YSL statement necklace that I thrifted. I think it’s from the 70s or 80s. It’s a gold tone Maltese cross with an electric blue glass “stone.” Anyway I like how you encourage people to develop their own style and wear what makes them happy and don’t be afraid to experiment and switch things up. Life would be so boring if we all looked the same.
Karen Hi, I've been trying to find those beautiful Jimmy Choos that you (borrowed) wore to the Jimmy Choo event. What is the name of those shoes I CAN'T FIND THEM!
I don’t come for judging or ironing. I come for the tips, tricks and styling and you never disappoint. I love those off white boots and that cropped tiger, grrrr🔥🔥🔥🐫😊. My hot pink trench always gets compliments, you can see me from 4 blocks away😂🤣😂, looks great with winter white, blues, greys, greens, and blacks. I adore it.
I finally found your cargos!!!!!!!yassss! I can not afford the ouest apron jeans, I guess I'll put a kitchen apron over my own! Lol! I'm tickled pink I have YOUR cargos!!!!!
I couldn’t agree more with u about beige/white boots..! Gorge! 💖 with monochrome outfit to me..!!! I have 2 crop winter coats, one in Alpaga long black hair (from Gérard Darel (soo Paris.!))..! and one vintage red shearling round neck..! (bought at the ICONIC Killywatch Vintage boutique in Paris🇫🇷like 25 years ago).. Both sligtly overzise (got them for decades, they are timeless). Agree with jumpers worn upside down, I do it with oversize shirts too..!!! Beanies, Fedoras, Berets, caps... I’m a HUGE hats, glasses, and shades kind of woman...!!! Always been...!!! Don’t know if u filmed that vid before Thanksgiving but u look good..! Have a good one ..! 🥰🇺🇸
Excellent tips on this Black Friday! I love the oversized blazer trend and purchased one second-hand first to make sure I could pull off the look. My wardrobe is basically black and will look for ways to add that pop of color:)). Enjoy the weekend!
OMG!!! Karen, Yasssssss! you hit the nail on the head with choosing a bright coat. I just bought two, a trench graffiti coat and a red shearling coat for winter. 😍😍🔥🔥
Appreciate your love and promotion of color! I love different color coats and boots. I think I have more fun color options than “staple” colors like brown or black and don’t really see why black or brown has to be the staple color. The only thing I don’t quite get is mens clothing. I can understand pieces like blazers but every time I’ve tried to wear/purchase mens shirts or pants, I have to size way up to get it to button over my chest or go over my thighs, hips and butt and then the pieces end up being way too big or too long elsewhere.
Hi Karen! Love those apron pants you're wearing!!! Wow! I agree about the coat; I have a lavender wool coat,! I love it and always get complements when I wear it!!! Those fan-like earrings are gorgeous! Yes, for the boys' section!!! I have a white button down for that department. I have a few young men's slacks and jeans that my son no longer wears! They fit me so well. He was actually on one of your videos of What Everyone Is Wearing In NY 🙂. Hmm, I will try the cardigan backwards. A hat? Hmm, i'm a shortie. Love your channel!!!!!!
Thanks Karen for putting this together, despite battling food poisoning. I hope you’re on the mends. As for my vintage piece, I bought a Dior trench on your recommendation - from eBay and I love winter because of it. Thanking you now! I also have Bottega combat boots in Cream, based on a former tip, and this boot is A STATEMENT piece for sure! Next, I’m upping my jewelry game. I’ll thank you later for that. Missoma, here I come😂🎉
As usual, you’ve sparked about a gagillion ideas for pieces I have in my wardrobe that I could play with. I have a few dresses I am going to try on back to front and the cardigans as well. The light coloured boots ….. I didn’t do this with the boots but I have been on the hunt for a good pair of chunky loafers ( I love chunky shoes so I have to restrain myself right now with all things chunky being on trend) and I kept trying on pair after pair after pair and just felt “meh” and couldn’t figure out why. Every pair of penny loafers Ive ever had have been chunky. This is my moment! Why was it so meh feeling? Anyhow … I realized I already have a few chunky black footwear options, all boots. I was looking for something to sing to me. Anyhow, I found a pair in this magical colour: not beige, not nude, not green, not tan … some fabulous colour that sits between them all with a slightly contrasting sole in a unique version of the lug design and they’re patent leather which gives them this delicious gloss to them but because it’s a muted tone they don’t stand out quite like a black patent (I am a sucker for patent leather) would. I mean my heart just SANG. They will go with EVERYTHING I own. And they’ll be that subtle but fantastic little punch to any monochrome outfit. Because they are chunky and I wear mostly long pants or long skirts/dresses they will have the same effect as a boot but will also be a shoe when I need them to be a shoe. Anyhow …. Blah blah blah lol it just made me sit up and say “YES!!!’ when you exhorted us to think outside the box with the boots. Now I am thinking I might just go ahead and get the boot version of the shoe. I just adore how excited you get when you stumble upon a good look whilst you’re doing these videos for us. What a joy you are ❤
This is how you know you are a bad b*tch. I'm creating a pinterest board for psychedelic prints while watching this video.... Karen pin pic with spring psychedelic floral dress in front of flower market appears🤔🤣😘
Hey Karen, I love your style. My jackets and blazers are nearly all vintage, I love them all, at moment I really enjoying a Escada leather jacket with 7 golden stars 🌟.
💟 Yes, they were always referred to as "vests" here in the U.S. A vintage piece, a statement piece & layering enhances an outfit in my opinion. Thank you kindly! 💟💜💟
Hi Honey. First of all…you’re amazing and you inspire me so much. Question(perhaps stupid), but what style of jean would you size up? I.e. high waisted, carpenter…
Love Love Love everything and your advice given is spot on! You are so right how many more black coats or boots… Man for me so I am walking on the KarenBritChick Style of life make it my own and add some color, different fit and lengths. And the reason is because I can (smile) And turning the sweaters backwards I began doing that in my fashion class at high school many years ago. It is timeless and such a good look! Thank you so much and keep shining 🤩🙌🏽❤
Hi Karen, thx for another great video. Can I request an idea of a video please? Could u do do a video on your Max Mara camel teddy coat? I’d like to see how you style it - to get some ideas. I’d also love to see exactly where the sleeves sit on your arm/ hand placement. I bought the Max Mara weekender teddy coat (very similar) but less expensive. But I’d love some inspiration on styling and how yours fits. I know it’s over sized on you - but still want to see where the sleeves sit. Please consider this request soon. Thank you, love 💕
I love that you love color I got rid of my beautiful boots cause I listened to channels that are classic style or minimalist capsule , I was dumb to do that , now I’m trying to find myself again you are so inspiring. Thank you !
Okay. I have tan colored boots. I’m going to wear them with light washed denim. I have a cropped denim jacket. I have a teal green winter coat. It might be a while before I wear it. I have lots of jewelry. And I’m starting to wear it more.
Thank you for the light colour boots suggestion. Except for a few silver & animal print ones most of my every day boots are dark. Ive just ordered myself a pair of beige Dr Martins in their cyber Monday sale 😊😊 I think they’re what my wardrobe has been missing 🙌
I have worn a high necked blouse backward so the buttons show and it looks like an open neck. THANK YOU Karen!!! Great vlog of pcs and tips!💕🔥🔥👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 Hi Michael and I hope you both had a great Thanksgiving ❤️❤️👋🏾
Hi Karen. I do love sunglasses and bag's. But I do agree with you 💯.. love you and everything's u do ❤ ♥ . Keep up great work. Lots of love 💘 💕 ❤. Happy Thanksgiving 😊
Hi Karen!!!If there is one thing i have learned from your fashion guidelines throughout the years is,try the male section.Apart from the sizing, specifically with suits...the tailoring is impeccable!!Regarding a statement piece,I totally agree...a statement piece in winter should by all means...be your coat and boots!Where live is so freaking cold, most times even indoors my coat still remain.Thank you!!!I simply cannot wait to see that Kermit coat(as it is called)from The Frankie Shop.Keep on,keeping on!!!!Congratulation again....ON EVERYTHING!!!!!
The pants look fine (wrinkle not noticable) but I got to take the opprotunity to say #1 need to be plan and press your clothes because for some reason my adult kids seam to over look this process that was a routine for them to do growing up for school. I already wore my 9West blue suede leather knee high boots and so happy that I got them while thrifting and was only $10. So # 2 is just mixed it up your look and stop being predictable. I saw you on IG in a photo wearing a red coat and I went on Poshmark and purchased a red one (so out of character for me) and I am determined to make it a color statement to my winter outerwear. I do have some accent bag color but I need to go thru them because I kept a lot of things in storage during covid and not going any where that they got damage by just being stored in seal containers. Such story of drama with the zebra large clutch (I was leaning in).🤣 I called them vest if they are more loose fit layer and outerwear sleeveless but I call them waistcoat when they are tailored men suited wear. I had bought way back in the late 80s a men's overcoat from a surplus store (secondhand stuff but more focus on men hunting/military) but my renewed for thrifting was brought on by you showing what was being sold there. And all my leathers are second hand, cowboy boots, and I acquired great tailoring pieces from the men rack of wool coats, blazer, button ups, and a couple of 3 pc suits. When I went thrifting I headed over to the men's section first (trying to stay away from thrifting because it become a fravorite past time and addiction). Gosh I have too much to pick out a favorite, I love the leather coats and furs that I thifted. The backward hack don't work all that well for those more endowed in the chest because of the pulling of the chest against the flatness of the back. I have suceeded in doing this with a loose fit pullover knit sweater and putting the too low cleavage v-neck to the back and with skirts bring the back kick split to the front for a leg baring look. I been wearing men hats back in the late 80's (baseball caps as a preteen into college) and guys at my job would compliments me on wearing men's brim hats. It hard for me to wear what I had stash away because of now having natural strands and it don't give the same vibe of when I had relaxed hair coming from under it. This was a very good video. Qestion: Is amazon sellling anything else other than just the white cargos that was on your drop? Thanks for sharing and blessing to you and all in the days to come.
I have peacock blue and yellow boots - the only boots I have and I love the statement they make. Although I am going into summer, so won't be wearing them for a while.
