@@abfranklin8492 I never saw them live. The album was recorded over several shows and mixed together with the jams that sounded the best to them at the time. According to what I’ve read, they never played these songs the same way twice. They were a jam band.

Been a Taj Mahal fan since I was 13 years old. He came out on stage with a stool and a banjo and started off by himself with Fishing Blues. Then the curtains came open and there was a full on band, horn section with Howard Johnson. One of the best concerts I've ever been to. When that horn section opened up it was on. Still love the man at 66.

I hereby pronounce that you possess a refined taste in music. When I was 16 (in 1969) I caught Taj in concert at Devonshire Downs in June in the broiling hot San Fernando Valley. Taj killed, as usual. That man's a natural showman. 200k people sitting on their asses in the dirt, no shade, hotter than f, but the music sure was good.Jimi Hendrix did a 3-hour set that same day, high as f on acid. Ike and Tina did a set as well.

Cajun blues? Taj grew up in Harlem and later in Springfield, MA. His father was an Afro Caribbean jazz arranger and piano player. Taj created the first modern arrangement of Statesboro Blues which inspired Duane Allman to take up slide. Won’t say he’s never played Cajun music, but he is a master of fusing blues and other genres.
