"The Black Death Mansion Murders" is based on the story of the Japanese mystery novel "黒死館殺人事件" ("The Black Death Mansion Murders Case"). The novel was originally serialized in 1934 by the author Mushitarou Oguri (Insutaro Oguri). The story is centered around the "Fuyugi" household in Kanagawa which lives in the "Black Death Pavilion" castle. The residence is feared by the populace as "Black Death Mansion" for the many tragedies that occurred in it, such as a pair of lovers slaughtering the other half of the "Black Death Pavilion" and then committing suicide. The family bloodline contains cursed and poisonous blood of European witches. A group of Four musicians and disabled housekeepers gather in the "Black Death Pavilion". The contemporary head of the family, Maatetsu Fukiya, also committed suicide by leaving a suicide note for unknown reasons. The murders increase, and the protagonist detective Fa Shui investigates the case.
