Well done! Always interesting to see behind the scenes things like this. The ending made me chuckle. While I'm decidedly a dog person thank you for saving those cats. Going through a fire is traumatic enough but losing a four legged family member would make it even worse.
On the aerial shot of the station it looked quite small to me - there were as much as *six vehicle bays* and not a lot of room for that many people to live. But when A.J. told us that the station was usually staffed by 7 people it made a lot more sense to me. But I still wonder - there's Tower, Medic, Safety and two cross-staffed brush apparatus, so... what's the sixth bay used for? [Also, the cat rescue thing is hilarious. It proves what my boss once said on a TV interview: "Well, you have to realise that the average firefighter never matures past the age of 12." :D]
Having 1 ladder for the entire South Metro area i(geographical footprint) is a pretty healthy stretch to cover! Great tour of station #18! Thanks for sharing! A. Portman, retired firefighter (captain)!, Houston, TX area
This is a bad ass video. I’m with the City of Chicago FD and this looks like some great work to be done. I wish I did more than structural fire fighting
That was cool I wis they would have showed more stuff like what they do in their spare time and for fun but this is the first episode so they can always add more stuff in the video
Our stations get toned for all calls, all stations, all traffic. Its a nightmare but progress right? Working for such a good dept must be an absolute pleasure.....
I can relate to whiskers. I work for a county ambulance service (also in colorado), and we are housed at a fire station. My nickname is “El Gato” (not for rescuing cats though. Mostly because I walk very quietly and accidentally sneak up on people) I decided to embrace the name and bought myself a pair of tie-dye pajamas with kitten faces on them that I wear when we play 4 square. It is definitely a sight to see.
Great Video! Whats the story behind the yellow helmet with the Swedish Flag visible at 6:42? Thanks for your service! Greetings from Stockholm, Sweden!
PIO Hurst, what’s the paint scheme for South Metro Fire Rescue going forward for the engine, tower, and medic units? Is there any plan to make it all uniform at some point?
@@SouthMetroFireRescuePIO Thank you for referring me to that video. It was very insightful. Do you guys plan on doing a video related to the fire academy during COVID-19?
Any chance someone could elaborate on your 48/96 schedule and how you establish daily routines? My department is considering the switch to a 48/96 schedule and any information you could share would be appreciated. Thanks.
